TE Brock Bowers, LV (1 Viewer)

He's the best TE in the NFL.
Maybe. We thought that about LaPorta last year, too.
Bowers was lightyears ahead as a prospect coming out. He'll best LaPorta in most receiving categories too as rookies, TDs aside.
I think this is a fair assessment. LaPorta obviously had a fantastic rookie season, but a lot of that was driven by a high TD level (10), which is unpredictable. He did average 7 targets a game, which is clearly nothing to sniff at, but he's the clear second option (at best) in the Lions' passing game. Bowers is already averaging 9 targets a game and there is reason to think that he'll be the alpha (or worst 1B) in Raiders' passing game for years to come.

I had apprehensions about drafting him 1.4, even in a TE premium league. I feel good about it now. In most start 1qb ppr leagues he was drafted at the 1.4. Perhaps earlier if the TE premium was high enough. I hope the Raiders can solve their QB issues in the off-season, whether trade or draft.

Guilty. 1QB TE+ league and I took him at 1.4 and immediately received trade offers (nothing of substance) as I had traded up to get the 1.4 and I had a surplus of picks.

I can confidently state Bowers is a key reason I am contending!

One of my old school dynasty leagues is adding a dedicated TE slot in 2 seasons, so I drafted Bowers at 1.5 this year. TE slot be damned….he’s basically my WR2 after Lamb. Amazing year.

Being drafted by the Raiders caused him to fall and I didn't understand that from a dynasty perspective. Fortunate for me as he fell to 7th in our 16 teamer. QBs go earlier because of the 16 team format so that helped. Both Caleb and Daniels got picked before Bowers which I thought was insane, but I could see the reasoning. But guy at 6th took Brooks which made no sense to me at all. He was regretting it almost instantly, especially after I sent him a "thank you" PM.

In PPR leagues he would be 7th in total points for WR's, #12 in PPG and two of the players ahead of him are out of the season.

He does not turn 21 until next month. The only WR ahead of him in PPG scoring that is not at least two years older then him is Nabers. Other then Rashee Rice and Nabers every WR who has scored more then him is in their third season or later.

I only have him on one dynasty team and it's a team with Gibbs and Jefferson. Love those two but feel like Bowers is my most valuable player, biggest difference maker/edge I got vs the comp. A lot of strong options for people picking 1.1 in a FFPC style dynasty startup. He won't be everyone's choice for 1.1, but he'd be mine.

I drafted him in one league at 1.07. Was a bit leery about the pick considering previous "can't miss" NFL TE prospects (Vernon Davis & Kyle Pitts) who turned out good, but not amazing.

had the 1.03 and the 1.06 in last years draft, was afraid of not drafting Bowers at 1.03 bc I didn't think he'd make it to 1.06, ended up going with Odunze and he still fell to me. Then Daniels fell to me at the 2.02. Two players who will just plug and play for at least the next 8-10 years barring injury.

Bowers looks as good as any TE has in recent memory, with his skill after the catch and the versatility. He's like Taysom Hill x Evan Engram on steroids. Speaking of which, it's incredible to see Bowers score 31 PPR points but still only be TE2 for the week.

I believe he played some QB in high school, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to consider some wildcat opportunities. Let's just hope he can stay healthy.

How much more with McBride would you have to give to get Bowers in Dynasty?
After last week, probably all of it. You have to hope Bowers has a few down weeks and McBride has a few up weeks in order to have a shot of not giving up the farm in most cases.
Yeah, trying to buy Bowers in dynasty now is not going to be success unless it hurts.
In TEP/IDP I offered up Nico, Diablo, and mid 25 2nd. No dice and thought very solid offer. LB issues abound throughout league

Will be interesting to see how high Bowers gets drafted in redrafts next year. Probably will need a second rounder, maybe even a top 15 pick.

If he has a few more games like last week someone will take him in the first.
1st round Brock. Makes my plums tingle.
I think if we redrafted for the rest of this season, he's not making it past round 2, and presumably he'll have a better QB situation next season.

For people asking what it would cost to get him, I took Bowers at 1.04 in 2 dynasty leagues and he's not for sale. It would cost more than anyone would be willing to give up. I have no motivation whatsoever to trade him. If there would be anything that I would consider that involves draft picks as primary compensation, I would have to know where most of those picks are going to be and at least one of them would have to be higher than 1.04. I'm not going to simply trade him for future 1sts knowing they could be anywhere in the round. I look around both of my leagues and I don't see anything with any team that would realistically get me to trade him.

I wouldn’t even consider it. He seems like he could be one of those plug in and play guys for the next half dozen years or so and those kinds of guys are incredibly valuable on a roster.

Can easily see him going top 5 next year in most redrafts - similar to peak Kelce. That positional advantage over everyone other than perhaps McBride is enormous.

Worth noting, the 3 games since Gesty was fired, Bowers has:

40 targets
27 catches
306 yards
2 TDs

That would be a full season pace of:
227 targets
153 catches
1734 yards
11 TDs

That's like peak Michael Thomas numbers from a TE. And that's playing with the Minshew/Ridder/O'Connell trio. What if say, Cam Ward is his QB next year onward? Obviously, the volume is unsustainable at that level, but why can't he have elite WR volume?

I feel like a lot of teams have to be kicking themselves passing on him or not trading up for him in the draft. I think for the most part, everyone thought he was a top 5 player in this year's class, it was just about the positional value of the TE position, but he seems like he's ALREADY beyond that question. If the NFL held a draft from scratch going forward, I think he might be a top-20 overall pick. Serious question, how many non-QBs would you take over him?

Rookie TE Reception record - 66 Sam Laporta

Bowers - 84 with 5 games to go

Rookie TE Recieving yards record - Mike Ditka 1,076 (14 games)

Bowers - 884 (Thru 12 games) Laporta had 889 in 17 games

Forget the 2nd rounder. Top 12 pick easily next year.....maybe mid 1st rounder. Bowers is so awesome.
That's too rich for me and I'm the biggest BB fan in world. I'm just too old school I guess in taking a TE in the first. But I would respect the hell out of whoever did.

When you can get WR1 output from a TE, that is a gamechanger at that position and and gives you such a positional advantage that it would make him an easy first round selection.
