TE Cole Kmet, CHI (1 Viewer)

Well I sure am happy with that trade today. Kmet is probably a top 6 TE rest of season.
this is a guy I want on every team this year given cost to acquire and likelihood of success in this offense
I don’t know about that. That’s a lot of pass game options for a rookie QB to support. Kmet was top 10 on TE snaps last year. With a legit 3 WR group and the addition of Gerald Everett, those snaps surely fall. I’m not into Kmet this year.

I don’t know if his snap count will be down as they will likely run a ton more pass plays. Maybe Keenan Allen/Everett borrow some of that piece of the field, but I am definitely a buyer at TE 14ish price.

With the Kmet stuff, the point isn't necessarily that Everett will stay ahead of Kmet, that could change. It's that the two are going to rotate so much that neither will be able to score enough points to be a fantasy starter at any kind of consistency.

“Gerald Everett is the Bears' new lead tight end: Everett appears to be ahead of Cole Kmet in the Bears' tight end rotation…Everett started the game with Kmet but then played each of the next two snaps out of 11 personnel. The Bears continued to rotate the tight ends, at times with both on the field or at times with just one, with Everett taking more snaps and running more routes than Kmet. This included Everett playing all of the passing plays on third down. “

Bears OC Shane Waldron called TE Cole Kmet "one of the top tight ends in the league." As far as the personnel packages, Waldron said, "That's more on us, starting with me, of getting the reps balanced out." Lack of rhythm on offense limited that, too, he said.

I think Gerald Everett is a capable starting TE in the NFL. I liked the move when the #Bears signed him.

But he shouldn’t be taking more snaps than Cole Kmet. The contracts show it, the tape shows it.

Kmet was underutilized Week 1 — I hope Shane Waldron doesn’t make it a habit.

I can't be the only person who thinks Kmet is not only a buy low but likely available on a waiver wire near you
Follow my logic here...and BTW, Caleb looked like a deer in headlights, that's hard to ignore, However...
-They play Houston Sunday Night and the Bears can't expect to win playing like they did on offense last week.
Odunze is OUT, Allen is hurt, DJ Moore is likely to be double covered, a week of film and coaches telling Williams he needs to progress thru his reads
-Boom! Kmet, 4/50/TD Sunday Night in Houston

This guy has sleeper written all over him as soon as Sunday Night

Problem is Everett is the apple of Waldron's eye from having worked with him with the Rams and Seahawks.

FYI here's the highest fantasy finish of any TE he's coached in the NFL by season:

Year - team - role
player

2008 - New England Patriots - offensive quality control coach
Ben Watson (TE34)

2009 - New England Patriots - tight ends coach
Ben Watson (TE19)

2016 - Washington Redskins - offensive quality control coach
Jordan Reed (TE9)

2017 - Los Angeles Rams - tight ends coach
Gerald Everett (TE36)

2018 - Los Angeles Rams - passing game coordinator
Gerald Everett (TE22)

2019 - Los Angeles Rams - passing game coordinator & quarterbacks coach
Tyler Higbee (TE9)

2020 - Los Angeles Rams - pass game coordinator
Tyler Higbee (TE17)

2021 - Seattle Seahawks - offensive coordinator
Gerald Everett (TE22)

2022 - Seattle Seahawks - offensive coordinator
Noah Fant (TE18)

2023 - Seattle Seahawks - offensive coordinator
Noah Fant (TE33)

Kmet's value has never been lower, so he should be cheap enough to acquire, in many cases for free. Problem I have is most of Waldron's offenses have a TE committee approach: Everett was featured a lot in all those Rams offenses even the ones where Higbee got the better production. I feel like Kmet's usage will be frustrating for fantasy owners, especially when the WR corps is all healthy and active. As long as Everett is active he will cut in to Kmet's share despite Kmet's body of work and new contract.

With both Odunze & Allen missing their third practice of the week Kmet's stock should be rising at least a bit.

Frankly, he seems startable of both of those guys miss the game against the Texans.

If there's one thing the #Bears did well today, it's bringing Cole Kmet back into the forefront.

After Gerald Everett starting as the top TE, Kmet out-targeted him 11 to 1. I don't know how it took Waldron 3 games to figure out how to use Kmet, but they used him well.

I wonder if he is more appealing in trades than Goedert for example. He's only 26 and a tremendous athlete. Depending on his cost to acquire, KC could be interested in him as Kelce replacement in 26.
