Davis is fully healthy and played for the 49ers last week. He was not targeted on any pass plays and was used only as a blocker in his 1st game back from injury.
If Bryant gets suspended for his driving incident then the 9ers may be forced to look at Davis more as a reciever in the near future. Battle had a sqrew put in his thumb to repair an injury but is not expected to miss any time.
Thw 49ers are also in contract negotiations with free agent to be Eric Johnson. As a Johnson owner, I don't want him to re-sign there, and I'm sure the Davis owners don't either.

Apparently he's not on the injury report this week (as far as I've seen anyway). Any insiders have word on him during practices this week?Hoping he can bring a burst to the TE position...Stevens has been a letdown.
From the Footballguys News Blogger this morning...November 25, 2006, 08:1349ers :: TEMore Snaps For TE V. Davis, More Double TE SetsDennis Georgatos, Contra Costa Times - [Full Article]At the start of the season, the 49ers were excited about getting TE Eric Johnson and TE Vernon Davis on the field at the same time. With Davis healthy again and ready, the 49ers finally may be able to showcase that element of their offense. Davis played sparingly last Sunday against Seattle, easing into his first game back from a fractured right fibula. He figures to get more playing time Sunday against the Rams, raising the possibility of more two tight end alignments with Johnson. "Whether it's two tight ends on first, second, and third down is fine with me," HC Nolan said. "We need to have our best 11 out there."
Ricky Dudley always dropped more than he caught. Dudley's "potential" could be summed up this way: "Damn, that guy is fast for someone so tall. If he ever learns how to catch the ball, he could be a great TE." As we all know, he never learned how to catch the ball. That's where Davis is right now. Don't expect much from him this year. Eric Johnson was the #1 read on his TD catch.
