Team Defense - Sleepers (1 Viewer)

Really depends on the scoring system. IF low points and low yards are worth more, then the big time D's like Pitt and NYJ are the ones you want. If you get more points for turnovers and sacks, then there may be some mediocre defenses out there that score high.

Detroit might be one of them this year. They look like they have a solid defensive line built to sack the QB. This will apply pressure and force bad throws which will hopefully create int's. I don't know if they can stop teams from moving down the field on them though. So if you lose points for letting up yards or scoring, its not really a good choice then.

Do pats count as a sleeper?

If so, I'll post my reasoning later.

I'm pretty sure pittsburgh and the jets don't constitute sleepers.

Houston might be a decent pickup. This is a defense that looks vastly improved, and while they may give up high yardage, they'll force turnovers and sacks to make up for it.

I'm looking at Atlanta. I expect their offense is going to keep most teams in 'catch-up mode', and I think they'll be able to tee off with their pass rush, even though they have an average secondary. Obviously I'd like to have several others instead as my starter, but as a late-round backup D...

Any team that's playing at home vs:

Bengals

Seahawks

Colts (w/o Manning)

Bills

Niners

Panthers

Jags (w/Gabbert)

Dolphins

I'm thinking Houston & St. Louis, too.

Staying away from the Top 10 Defense, who do you guys think will be a late round gem?
Arizona, and you can have them with the last pick of the draft. But you should really fix your defensive scoring so that team defense matters. When it's as capable of scoring points as any other position it's more fun.

Opening weekend there will likely be 2 rookie QB's on the road.

Cincy @ Cleveland.

Carolina @ Arizona.

Tough to start a career this way.

Worth the mention, since Houston appears to be on the sleeper list - they could open at home vs. a Manning-less Colts team.

I looked over their schedule since they're on the wire in the one league I've already drafted. I have Baltimore D and the weeks that look tough coincide with nice matchups for Houston, save the one where they play each other.

Week 1

Balt v. Pitt - Hou v. Indy (likely no Peyton)

Week 5

Balt v. Bye - Hou v. Oak

Week 6

Balt v. Hou - Hou @ Balt

Week 9

Balt @ Pitt - Hou v. Clev

Week 14

Balt v. Indy - Hou @ Cincy

Week 15

Balt @ SD - Hou v. Car

might be time to carry 2 DSTs. 19 rosters spots and all . . .
