Team Quarterbacks (1 Viewer)

I am in a two qb league and we are going to a "team qb" position instead of drafting individuals. I would assume that this would raise the value of qb's with injury concerns (i.e., Mia, Cin, Stl, and Ari). Has anyone ever been in a league that does this, or have any idea where to find rankings?

Thanks in advance.

Ive never understood this. Why not use team RBs? If people want to lock up a teams QB position, I think they should have to use a roster spot to handcuff the backup. Its a strategy thing. Is it more valuable to have the backup, or is more valuable to have a different starter on a less appealing team?

I've seen this before. Look for Team QB rankings to get a decent picture of the overall passing offense.

However I would draft off of how good the starting QB is going to be. And only let the backup QB's come into play if there isn't much difference between team A and team B. Overvaluing a team because they have a good backup could backfire if he never sees the field.

I'd make sure you get 3 QBs though as not every team will be able to.

I'm not sure that I like the change, but we have had a number of teams absorb 0's at one of the two qb spots the last few years. Bye weeks and injuries are impossible to replace from the ww when 50 qb's are on teams rosters. Some teams were able to have five starters on thier roster at one time......and would hold teams in need hostage. The opinion is now we all take three team qb's, leaving two starters available on the ww at all times.

At this time I am not sure how team qb's value is effected vs. the choosing of an individual. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ten team league. We can all have three qb units.

I've been in a 2 QB league before and the stashing of QB's happened also. Now I understand that you could have the strategy of garnering all the QB's and then trading a mediocre QB for a stud RB or something when the other owner has zero options. But that can easily ruin a league. There is two ways your league can handle this:

1. Team QB's

2. Limit on QB's.

During the draft a limit of something like 3 starting QB's and 2 Backups maximum.

During the course of the season if the backups become starters then you can have 5 starters. However if a QB goes down you can not pick up the back up QB as a starter if you already have 3 starting QB's.

This option allows you to still be able to do a player draft which would force you to take into consideration injuries (Palmer/Culpepper..) or if there is a QB with a short leash or something.

My league does this and I have a report for you.

Team QB Ranking 2005

We are a 16 team league. The 2 Conferences of 8 each hold their own draft (of all NFL players). We've been around since 1994 and implemented the Team Quarterback concept to account for those PLAYOFF WEEKS when the stud QBs would sit.

Scoring for Team QBs is:

1 pt for 200 yds passing

1 pt for every 25 after

4 pts for Passing TDs

6 pts for Rushing TDs

6 pts for Receiving TDs (yeah, rare)

-1 for INT

-1 for Lost Fumble

other minimal scoring for Rushing/Passing 2 pt conversions

Hope it helps!!

You have nailed the two options that we are left with. Unfortunately, we have chosen to go with team qb's. I believe that this will change my current qb rankings. I now feel more comfortable taking the Miami qb position over risking a pick on Culpepper as an individual.Has anyone ever seen "team qb" rankings?

Thanks Raider Z! That is a great resource. I noticed that Ari and Stl thrived in this format while owners of Bulger and Warner had some unfornate weeks last year.

my league has used team QB for several years now. The main reason is that the QB is the primary point scorer, and if your QB goes down, it can mess up your week pretty quick. W/ team QB, you at least have the back-up coming in and back-filling the points, so it is less likely you will lose becasue of a freak injury. We use team kickers too, but that's only becasue we don't want to waste any time thinking about kickers.

As far as ranking QB's, in FBG's VBD excel file, I modify the projections to lump the back-up and the starting QB's numbers together - so essentially each team has 1 QB with 100% of passes. That way, the team QB's are represented accurately when compared to the other positions.
