Team Turmoil (Dallas Cowboys) (1 Viewer)

Looks like I may have thrown dirt on the 'Boys too quick. They are playing GREAT tonight given all the distractions this week.................Color me impressed.
The team is too bipolar. They have the capacity to look unbeatable some weeks...other times, the implosion is of such epic magnitude, they can lose just about any game. Every week is an adventure.Another Ware sack...unreal.
agreed that they can be bi-polar. but, their defense has emerged as probably the top playing unit in football right now. they are dominate right now. if they can continue, Dallas will be in any game they play.
You didn't watch the Ravens/Steelers game today did you?
no, i did. did you watch the Cowboys/Giants game? Cowboys had the most sacks in a game in 11 yrs, against the mighty Giants o-line.i dont wanna split hairs here. i'll rephrase and say i'd put the Cowboys right up there with the Steelers D right now.

the Steelers defense is 1st in rushing defense, passing defense, yards allowed, and points allowed coming into this week. And this is while having the worst punter in the league giving their opponents great field position for the last several weeks. I think its safe to say that the Steelers D is the best in the league by a pretty good margin.

Cowboys by 3. Line hasn't even moved because of all the press, entire country thinks the Cowboys are in disarray. Smart money is on the Boys.
... and if that damned anti-Dallas media would stop talking about how the Giants are the defending superbowl champs, have the best record in the NFC and bludgeoned Dallas earlier in the year that Dallas would really be favored.Damn anti-Dallas media. :hot:
Yeah, I think you get my point. Dallas should win this game. Yes?
Of course Dallas should win!If even that damn anti-Dallas, liberal media outlet ESPN, with their "gotcha!" questions says that Dallas is the best team in the NFC then it's got to be true!
Are you being serious ESPN has all but written Dallas off as a playoff contender. According to ESPN Dallas should not even show up.
Of course he wasn't being serious. And of course you wont find him in here yapping now. And of course I am laughing all the way to the bank. :lmao:

If you are taking the whole year into account you are probably right but how they are playing right now I would say Dallas is right up there with them.

If we thought the distractions of the Giants in recent weeks were bad the Cowboys' distractions are of the meltdown variety. The in-fighting, jealously and bickering between teammates have killed any chance for this team to make a playoff run. The Cowboy in-fighting headlines have made the game secordary vs Giants. It will all come to a head in news conferences tomorrow after they get crushed by the Giants in the Texas Stadium finale 30-13.
Nice try......you can try again next week.
+1Suck it Giants. See you in the playoffs.

Cowboys by 3. Line hasn't even moved because of all the press, entire country thinks the Cowboys are in disarray. Smart money is on the Boys.
Or Vegas is luring money to bet on the Cowboys.
What was that? I can't hear you over the sound of all the :bag: I'm trying to gather up and take to the bank.
Congrats... you are a wise gambler indeed for placing a huge bet on the Cowboys -3.

I was thinking the same thing... lol. I'm sure he's FOS, but anyone that put a lot of money on that game won't beat juice in the long run (or short term for that matter). But let him gloat now before he has to pay back with vig later.

you missed my point. of course the Steelers D is the best defense overall this year. if you dont want to acknowledge the Cowboys D as being right up there RIGHT NOW, then you prolly havent been watching them.

I don't know about their defense being as good as the Steelers but it's an argument you can make. They were awesome last night. I would have really liked to have seen how they'd fared against Jacobs. That's two games in a row now where they've been just smothering on defense. Defense kept them in the PIT game and won the NY game.

I think it is more than just the last 2 games. 1st half of the season they were down right awful, but the d has been pretty good since the Tampa game. The only less than stellar performance since then was allowing Hill to throw 300 yds (but they were focused on shutting down Gore, who only gained 26yds on 14 car).

I'll yap. Unlike some fans or certain teams here, I won't just post when my team wins.My points are still valid. It is ridiculous to blame some media conspiracy for reporting turmoil on the Cowboys when turmoil clearly follows TO wherever he goes.

Enjoy the regular season victory Dallas fans!

Since they won't let us start playing the playoffs yet, we will. "It is ridiculous to blame some media conspiracy for reporting turmoil on the Cowboys when turmoil clearly follows TO wherever he goes."

This is really a chicken or the egg thing. I will say that TO's past actions have brought the media attention to him and being part of the Cowboys has intensified it. The media is waiting for the explosion, wants the explosion, needs the explosion. They would rather be early than late in announcing it so they are not too worried about accuracy.

I am not going to feel sorry for him by any means since he has brought it on himself by using melt downs to get out of 2 cities but I am not going to buy what the media is selling either.

I doubt the explosion will every really come because the grass is greener where he is at than it would be anywhere else he could go at this point in his career. He also wants a Superbowl and realizes his clock is ticking down. This team is his best shot.

As a Giants fan I'd be really nervous right now. They certainly don't look like Superbowl favourites anymore. Peaked too early. No Plax is a bad thing for that team.

If you're looking for somebody to concede the point that they've been as good as anyone the last month, I'll be happy to do that for you. I'm not sure what the larger "point" is though. Is it that they're just as likely as the Steelers (who have been playing like this all year) to carry it over into the postseason? That's going to be a tough point to sell.

Who really cares the Steelers have a great defense and is the best but I think it is safe to say if somehow these teams were to meet again in the Super Bowl, Dallas wins, unless it is 7 degrees and 20+ mph winds and in Pittsburgh. Hats off to the Steelers, but they could have easily lost the last 2 weeks and should have, but they are a great team and find a way to win. To me there is no dominant team and whoever makes it to the playoffs this year has a legit shot to win any game.

I said this in another post, they are the Cowboys of last year. I would not be surprised if they lost the next 2 and missed a bye week.. If the G-Men can pull it together and win this week they have a great shot as good as anyone. If they lose, well that is another story. Get it together Gints cause the Panthers are playing some great ball right now and I would hate to see you lose 3 in a row. :lmao:

It's actually been a bit longer than the 2 games you mention, Joe. I've noticed the difference ever since Wade Phillips took control but it is the last two games that stick out and really mean something because they were against quality opponents, where the other ones weren't.I would have also liked to have seen a healthy Brandon Jacobs run last night to see how the D would have stacked up but I also don't mind seeing it in the playoffs when all the chips are on the tables for both teams, not just the Cowboys. For anyone making the claim that the Dallas D is as good as Pittsburgh's, it's not a fair argument. It takes more than a handful of games to compete with the No. 1 defense in football. Pittsburgh has done it week in and week out consistently since the start, they are the elite defense of the 2008 regular season. If Dallas can stay healthy on defense and play the way they have been, which is relentless pressure on the QB, good tackling and decent coverage in the secondary, they can make a run. Even with this optimism, it's also a reality that they won't even make the playoffs. They play a very good Baltimore team next week who will be desperate for a win.The game that bothered me most all season long was the game in Philadelphia. When I looked at the schedule before the season started, I said to myself "I hope that Dallas doesn't NEED to win that game for something big."It may even be worse than that. They may NEED to win that game to make the playoffs and the Eagles may also be in a position that if they beat Dallas that game, they'd be the team that gets in. That will be a tough game to win in Philly.

Maybe the Giants just wanted you guys to have some hope before another LOLmo season-ender. If that is the case I applaud them.
 YEAH SURE YOUR RIGHT. WAY TO GO G-MEN THANKS, NOW YOU PROLLY JUST LOST HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE. :lmao:
I don't want to call you a "typical Cowboys fan" because there are some Cowboys fans in here who's opinions and posts I can respect, but it is typically comical how you don't post even once in the "TO: Conspiracy between Romo and Witten" thread when all is going to #### for the Cowboys and you're first post in here is right after the game ended last night and now you're posting as fast as you can when you have something to crow about. If you were in here crowing before the game at least that would be something but now you just come off with ridiculous bravado, shouting only when things are fair sailing for your boys.Again, congrats to the Cowboys and their fans for a win over the superbowl champions and you'll find me, obviously a Giants fan, posting on this board to complement or criticize my team regardless of how great or crappy they are doing on or off the field.

The reason you did not see me in the thread about TO and Witten was I have been in them type of threads all season and it is pointless. Sorry I was not here for you to see during the game but I was watching the game and did not feel like getting on the computer while watching such a big game. I have been on these boards all year long about the Cowboys during good and bad times and always will be no matter what. All I see is post after post when things go bad for the Boys but when they go good if any Cowboys fans expresses joy or comments back about some jack "fill in the blank" post about how terrible the Boys are or their season is done as has been said about 3 or 4 times this season already you get this kind of response that you are a fair weather fan. So if you did your home work about my past posts more then just a couple of threads you would never have made that BS comment. Just ask Tatum Bell we have gone back and forth a lot this year in threads just like the nonsense Witten TO Romo thread that I did not want to per take in.Hey thanks for back handed congrats as well but it does not change the fact that Dallas just smoked ELI and the Giants offense. Better luck next week you are going to need it.

BTW here is a post I made in the Cowboys team thread well before the game vs the mighty G-MEN. Just to shut ya mouthQUOTE (simmonjm @ Dec 10 2008, 06:47 PM) *QUOTE ({Syrus} @ Dec 10 2008, 07:36 PM) *Congrats Steelers and their fans for a hard-fought win this past Sunday. Many say Dallas gave the game away. No. The Steelers found a way to win. Championship teams do that.I've been watching a lot of the early-mid 90's Cowboys video clips from when I was a teenager on youtube. There is no comaparison between those Cowboys teams and this current team. The talent may be similar, but what this team lacks is leadership, from top to bottom.Jimmy Johnson (leader) vs. Wade Phillips (Coach Cupcake)Joe Avezanno (leader) vs. ?Troy Aikman (leader) vs. Tony Romo (oh well, you win some you lose some)Emmitt Smith (leader) vs. Marion Barber (quiet as a mouse)Michael Irvin (leader) vs. Terrell Owens (only guy on Dallas showing any kind of passion to win)Charles Haley (leader) vs. Demarcus Ware (freak of nature but not a field general)Ken Norton (leader) vs. Bradie James (meh)Deion Sanders (leader) vs. Terrance Newman (meh)Jason Witten is not a leaderKen Hamlin is not a leaderJason Garrett is not a leaderDallas' entire team is a like an army full of infantrymen with no field generals. Lead them to the massacre.I remember in the early-mid 90's never lacking confidence that Dallas could win any game, the only time I got nervous was when Dallas played their nemesis the SF 49'ers, but I knew Jimmy Johnson would have the team ready and most of the times he always did. With the current Cowboys, I don't feel confident at all, never have, and as long as the same staff and core of players remains I never will. The current Cowboys are not a championship team, they are not a playoff team. I do not see anyone except Terrell Owens etting fired up and showing any emotion. I have ben pretty pissed all week, not at the Steelers, but that Dallas imploded and I've shown more emotion than most of the Dallas players. Whens fans take a loss harder than the actual players there is something wrong. Aikman/Smith/Irvin hated to lose and lost sleep and appetite all week after a loss. These Dallas players don't show that commitment and passion. The only guy I commend somewhat is Terrell Owens. Believe me I have never forgotten his dance on the Dallas star (thank you James Washington) , and I know you guys think he is selfish, but the guy wants to win bad, and he's right...when he gets the ball Dallas wins. Get me 52 guys that want to win as badly as him and you have a dynamite team.I do not think Dallas will make the playoffs. If they do happen to win out the rest of the season by slim chance they will not make it past the first round of the playoffs. This team is not built for championship football. When the players themselves are not leaders all is lost. Tony Romo, yes, nice stats...but you never will be a Troy Aikman. Marion Barber, nice tough running, you will never be an Emmitt Smith. The only bright spot I see right now is Tashard Choice. Felix Jones doesn't impress me (yeah he's fast). Tashard Choice has IT. Choice has a confidence in him and that remonds me alot of Emmitt Smith. He's not afraid to say he's ready and go out and do it.If Jason Garrett becomes the head coach next year, we're in store for a lot of mediocrity. The guy is not a leader and last year was an aberration. I will no longer care about the Dallas Cowboys until they start caring themselves.bye1.gifTHIS IS MY PART OF THE POST**************************************************************************Wow guy, you just jumping off like that on the Boys. I understand that this team lacks late game leadership and still does not know how to win close big games but damn they just played in Pittsburgh in weather that totally favors Pitt and had the game won with 7 minutes left, showed toughness to stick with one of the best teams in the league with every thing favoring Pittsburgh. I realize it looks bleak and the lose really hurt but damn you never give up and I really believe Dallas will beat the Giants this week. Look it will not be 7 degrees and windy in Dallas this Sunday. It will be a different offense this week and next week vs Baltimore (in Dallas) which I really feel they will win also. Give up on them if you like but please if they happen to roll off 3 wins do not come back in here all, hey what's up the Boys are back. The injuries to the secondary tells me this Giant game will be a shoot out. This may not be their year with all these injuries but let's not go out like punks like the Skins let's fight are asses off and at least beat these Giants and maybe knock them from the top spot in the NFC. Remember WE CONTROL ARE OWN DESTINY, lets start acting like it. football.gifGO COWBOYS!!! thumbup1.gif++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++--------------------The only thing I was wrong about was the shootout part. Dallas still won and like I said I beleive they will beat the Ravens also. So when that happens and I show up after the game is over DO NOT bother with the you only show up after they won BS.

Maybe the Giants just wanted you guys to have some hope before another LOLmo season-ender. If that is the case I applaud them.
:lmao: YEAH SURE YOUR RIGHT.
If you were in here crowing before the game at least that would be something but now you just come off with ridiculous bravado, shouting only when things are fair sailing for your boys.

Again, congrats to the Cowboys and their fans for a win over the superbowl champions and you'll find me, obviously a Giants fan, posting on this board to complement or criticize my team regardless of how great or crappy they are doing on or off the field.
Just ask Tatum Bell we have gone back and forth a lot this year in threads just like the nonsense Witten TO Romo thread that I did not want to per take in.

Hey thanks for back handed congrats as well but it does not change the fact that Dallas just smoked ELI and the Giants offense.

Better luck next week you are going to need it.
Way to take a "congrats" with the class of To and the Cowboys!Best of luck the rest of the season.

As oppose to the class of Plaxico and Antonio Pierce and the Giants organization who tries to cover up the whole shooting incident. Nice :lmao: Atleast TO is just a moron that runs his mouth without thinking and not an idiot who breaks the law and puts innocent people in danger.

I think its safe to say that the Steelers D is the best in the league by a pretty good margin.
you missed my point. of course the Steelers D is the best defense overall this year. if you dont want to acknowledge the Cowboys D as being right up there RIGHT NOW, then you prolly havent been watching them.
If you're looking for somebody to concede the point that they've been as good as anyone the last month, I'll be happy to do that for you. I'm not sure what the larger "point" is though. Is it that they're just as likely as the Steelers (who have been playing like this all year) to carry it over into the postseason? That's going to be a tough point to sell.
no larger point. all i have said is they are as good as anyone RIGHT NOW. i swear, some of you have to jump all over anything that comes from a Cowboys fan.

... and again.Great win for you guys.

Hey Mimo...Wha happened?
Ummmmm...........Giants got crushed by the better team last night......SIMPLEI can't hide, I thought the Cowboys were ripe for implosion. As has been stated throughout this thread the D is playing at another level. You can only hope it continues.
