Teen eggs Australian senator blaming Muslims for Christchurch attack (1 Viewer)

Interesting.  So what type of person would hold those views?  I mean "politically"?
I honestly have no idea what you’re getting at with this.  This world is full of racists and people who hate other religions and there are political parties that prey on those feelings all over the world in many countries.

I'm just trying to figure out how "hate" is a political view.

Australian Teen Who Egged Islamophobic Politician Donates to New Zealand Shooting Victims

On Saturday, an Australian teenager made international headlines for egging a controversial politican who made islamophobic comments following the New Zealand shooting. Senator Fraser Anning was speaking with reporters when Will Connolly, who has since been dubbed "Egg Boy," snuck up on him and smashed an egg on the side of his head. Anning responded by punching the 17-year-old on camera. Shortly after the moment went viral, a GoFundMe page popped up to raise funds for Connolly to take Anning to court, but now he's announced that he's donating most of the money to the victims of the shootings.

The GoFundMe page, which is titled "Money for EggBoi," posted an update confirming what Connolly intends to do with the funds that have been raised. "EggBoi (Will) plans to send a majority of the money to the victims of the Christchurch terrorist attack," the page revealed. The campaign has already surpassed its $50,000 goal, but since Connolly can't profit from a crime, he won't be keeping the money to himself. The initial post on the page stated that the funds raised would be used for "legal fees" and "more eggs."

Connolly is currently under instructions to not post much on social media. However, #EggBoy has been trending across Twitter and Instagram ever since video of the incident surfaced online. Melbourne-based artist Van T. Rudd even painted a street mural to pay tribute to Connolly (photo of mural at above link).

I think sometimes Squis likes to argue for the sake of arguing. He is 100% wrong here and hasn't had one person back him up. Of course you can get physical if you're physically attacked. In this case, it took the guy a second or two to process what had happened, but it was still immediate enough to claim self defense. How did he know the guy wasn't reloading with another egg? Or if it was actually even just an egg? He just felt a crack to the head and felt moisture run down his scalp.
I hope you are not confusing me as the one backing up squis.  I'm asking questions where people draw a line when somebody eggs you or something similar.  I bolded your sentence above to ask, if a woman slaps a man in the face, or you ok with that man punching her back?  assume a normal 120 lb woman and a 180 lb man

   But that is not what happened.  I thought we were discussing the egg attack that occurred not hypos.

Plus the kid wanted back at him after he was slapped. They should have let him go as it may have been a decent bout.
talking with you is absolutely brutal.  you tell me which rhetorical question I want you to answer, I tell you which hypothetical question, and you come back with 'but that's not what happened, I thought we were discussing what happened'.

no, we were discussing hypos and this has been clear for sometime, you even bolded the hypotheticals and then answered that you'd be ok with whoever was egged with punching whoever egged you.  that alone speaks to the hypothetical question.  I asked you if I heard you right and you've spent the last few posts refusing to answer any hypothetical question.

I already answered it to Squid.  Also answered a couple of times that nobody knows how they would react in the heat of the moment when someone smashes an egg on your head.  I am leaning on most people doing the same as the guy in the video.

You did not answer my hypo to you.

I have asked that several time but haven't gotten a straight answer as to what circumstances a physical retaliation against someone who has egged you is appropriate.

The talking point seems to be "I have a right to strike anyone of any age, gender or physical condition if they strike me first," but when you start to pose hypotheticals as to women, adolescents, children, seniors, or the disabled, you are met with silence, as a consistent line can not always be drawn without splitting hairs and sounding irrational (for instance what age is the cut off from 17, is it 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11 or 10 and why?).

Either this Eye for an Eye retaliation is always justified or it never is. For the sake of consistency, you can't start making a determination that vengeance is acceptable depending on some physical attribute of the attacker.

For me, I know it when I see it.

That kid was punchable.

Grandma would not be.

You get an egg in the back of the head turn around and a kid in MAGA hat is standing there with his phone in your face what do you do?

Personally I don’t think I’m punching anyone, I’m a lover not a fighter, but I get a punch in the face coming in this situation.

How quickly are these "moments" passing in your mind?!  In your video, the egg cracks at the :31 mark.  The first punch is literally being thrown at the :32 mark.  And you think the "moment has passed"?
It’s a pure flight/fight reaction.

I probably wouldn't hit the 120 pound woman but I do believe any adult (really anyone probably 16 or older) that initiates a physical altercation with another person is fair game and I certainly wouldn't feel sorry if the original attacker got punched back.  Have some self control and check your violence.  You don't get to hide behind your gender when you go around assaulting people.

There is no straight answer to any situation as all are different. Revenge retaliation later is totally different from split second retaliation.

Eggboys attack was thought out, planned and premeditated.  Plus the fact that he wanted to video himself doing it means he wanted it to go viral.  Getting punched in the face to him was well worth it.

Per his Twitter account, he might feel otherwise (and he didn't even mention that he got kicked which I saw in some videos).

I got hit twice, strangled, sat on, legs pulled, threats in my ear, I couldn't breathe or get out. #eggboy

What would have happened to him if he  just listened and talked about how he felt and did not smash an egg on a person head?  Eggboy was taking a video of the attack to post.

I will answer..nobody would know who he is or be talking about him..he got what he wanted and a little more.

I don’t mind the guy tossing the egg quite honestly. The dude he hit is a scumbag.

Just don’t be shocked if you get a punch in the face.
I never questioned the guy is a scumbab.  Eggboy had it coming too. Doosh + Doosh= Doosh

I am OK with the end result..guy gets egg smashed on his head..Eggboy gets punched in the face. They both get their comeuppance.

The red/blue divide in some of these threads baffles me.

Then we have mr tough guy here in the last post-

“and nazis around the world praise this little hitler.”

the guy making racist islamaphobic statements about Muslim immigration in another country being the reason some nut jobs shot up a church is probably the one the nazis are praising.

I suppose I could just say “if you make a bunch of stupid racist comments prepare to pay the price.”

Wait, someone compared eggboy to hitler? That's funny. Presumably unintentional, but funny nonetheless

That kid deserved to get his ### beat.

You assault someone, a politician for the Twitter likes no less, you better be prepared to pay the price.

And Nazis around the world praise this little Hitler.
Not everyone sees what BB posts, so I try not to quote, but yes. The irony of that statement....

Teenager who egged Fraser Anning won't be making police complaints

The teen who egged Fraser Anning will not be making a complaint against the far-right senator for striking him twice in the head, or against bystanders who tackled him to the ground and restrained him in a chokehold, his lawyer says.

Peter Gordon, who is acting for the 17-year-old pro bono, said all of the donations collected through a fundraising page set up to cover the teen's legal fees would go to victims of the Christchurch terror attack.

The page raised more than $57,000 by 2:30pm.

"[He] is committed that every cent of the money raised from the GoFundMe page go to support victims of the tragedy in Christchurch," Mr Gordon said.

The incident took place on Saturday at a political meeting in Moorabbin, in Melbourne's south-east, and police have been investigating the incident "in its entirety", including the actions of the teen, Senator Anning and others.

Mr Gordon said the teenager was cooperating with police, and in a statement Victoria Police said a 17-year-old boy had been interviewed and released pending further inquiries.

"A 69-year-old Brisbane man is yet to be interviewed and the investigation remains ongoing," the statement said.

Mr Gordon said his client did not wish to take any action against the senator or his supporters.

A Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed police would require a statement from a victim in order to lay charges over an assault that did not cause serious injuries.

"He's considered his position fully and he has no plans to make complaints or take any action of his own of a legal nature," he said.

'Police have been awesome'

Mr Gordon said the teen wanted to thank Victoria Police for their handling of the matter, including their response to the incident on Saturday and the support they had provided to him and his family since.

"To use [his] words, the police have been awesome," Mr Gordon said.

Mr Gordon would not say whether his client had received threats since the incident, but thanked police and his school for their efforts to keep him safe.

Sounds like the police chided him about attacking public officials and gave him the old wink and nod.

Always best when things work out without the law getting involved. Police tell Eggboy we won`t press charges on you if you don`t press charges and it is a wash. Eggboy seems like a good guy and took his medicine.
