Tennessee Rush Def and Tampa Bay Pass Def (1 Viewer)

Tennessee is 7th vs. the run and Tampa is 7th vs. the pass, however I can't help but notice that Tennessee is 31st vs. the pass and Tampa is 31st vs. the run.

I haven't seen much of either team this year. For those in the know, how much of each team's success is a product of actually being good at that facet of the game vs. opponents just ignoring the other option because they don't even need to.

I do see that TB is last in pass attempts against and Tennessee is 4th in rush attempts against, so I'm guessing that they may both be bad all all facets of defense.

Tennessee has looked like they're a decent run defense the couple of times I've seen them this year. It seems like a decent D overall when all of the players are healthy (they were a terrible pass D when they were missing several people in their secondary). I wouldn't bench a RB because of the match-up.

Thankfully, I haven't been subjected to any Tampa Bay games, but my guess is that their ranking is mostly because they're terrible against the run. If I considered benching any WR against them it would be more of a tie-breaker because I was worried about the same trend (WR's team doesn't really need to throw).

My Titans were horrible against the pass the first 6 weeks including 426 yards to Tom Brady and 357 to Schaub and the only team not to throw for 300+ was Sanchez/Jets. Since then they haven't given up a 300 yard passing game including games against Schaub, Peyton and Warner. They also haven't given up a 100 yard rushing game since Nov 8. Injuries were a HUGE part of their early problems.

I'm not sure if someone has the stat, but I'm guessing since the break, the Titans might be among the best in both categories.

good point about the second half vs. the first half of the season.I'm looking at players on the Seahawks (somehow I've now ended up with Burleson, Branch, Butler and Forsett) and they play TB this week and Ten in week 17.

Over the past 6 weeks, Tennessee is only allowing the 13th most FPs to opposing wide receivers.

And they're 9th against opposing QBs... needless to say they're much-improved and no longer a "plum" matchup.

In a fun twist, opposing RBs have averaged 28.19 points against Tenny.

The only teams that have allowed more to running backs in that span are the 49ers, Falcons, Browns, Bills, Rams, Panthers, Chiefs and Lions.

interesting, where does that rank? They've kept 3 RBs out of the end zone, Addai scored twice in really the only "good" game against them.

The bucs do have one great corner in Tabib when he is healthy. However the secondary as a whole has been a magnet for big plays especially early on.
