Tennessee Titans - least heralded 9-0 team ever (1 Viewer)

Everyone makes a big deal about their schedule, but it's the salary cap age and anyone who's been in a survivor pool can tell you that so called "upsets" are happening more than ever in the NFL. Thery are a 9-0 team that has allow fewer points than anyone else in the NFL and their offense is ranked tenth in PPG. Yet a lot of people seem to think the Titans aren't even the best team in their division and are just keeping the throne seat of the AFC South warm until the Colts over take them. I am not a Titans homer, or even a fan, but isn't this the least we've ever heard about a 9-0 team?

1. Small market;

2. Last year NE went 18-0;

3. Weak schedule. Now NE had an easy schedule too, but NE was blowing those teams out;

4. Media is more easily impressed with offense, not defense.

If TEN won it all and went 19-0, you'd still have many feel they weren't that great a team. Just like the way 2007 NYG are looked upon; good team but got lucky.

Yes it probably is. They aren't a very exciting team from either side of the ball, they are just good. They are a true reflection of how Fisher wants to coach, play good defense, play field position, run the ball, then run the ball, then run the ball, don't turn it over and win by a FG.

I'm not a Titans fan but Fisher is one of my favorite coaches, he's just great.

My thinking is that they are not talked up so much because they are not a dominating team. They have just barley won a hand full of games. As far as 9-0 goes they are at the bottom of the list of the teams that have done it. Not knocking them, but would any of us be surprised if they lost in the first round of the playoffs?

I agree with all but #4. That is just crazy if they went 19-0 I doubt anyone would have any doubts about this team. That would be plain crazy.. The Giants were looked upon not as lucky but as they just got on a roll at the right time. Now they are proving it was more then a roll, it was that they just found themselves as a team late in the year and that has carried over to this year.

I think it's because they arent winning in a dominating fashion. There's a handful of games they could have lost but were "lucky" that the other team wasnt playing their A-game.
