Terrance Copper (1 Viewer)

New Orleans was able to move the ball up and down the field against Pit last week but the NO WR - Terrance Copper looked great... I'm sure this depends on Horn's injury status, but I see the kid playing a role in the passing game going forward...

Thoughts on this or does anyone know his background/history?

all i saw was the last 6 min or so, but all i saw him have was a crucial drop and a fumble that cost them a chance to win. he's back on the pines when horn returns.

When I first started reading this thread, I was like "Whoa, maybe I should give this guy a look?" Then I read this...all i saw was the last 6 min or so, but all i saw him have was a crucial drop and a fumble that cost them a chance to win. he's back on the pines when horn returns.

Thats enough for me to give Copper the DREADED

Copper is probably a moot point anyway;

Joe Horn practiced Wednesday and both the receiver and coach Sean Payton anticipate the Saints' all-time leading pass-catcher will be on the Louisiana Superdome turf on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals."In Joe's case, hopefully we pick right up where he left off and get him back in the flow of things," Payton said. "It will be good to have him back, because he is someone who has made plays for us. Joe has good hands in tight traffic and is competitive."

Copper played with the Saints in the preseason and looked decent. He was signed off the Dallas practice squad before last week. Copper has value in Brees' offense only if Horn is out. Brees, from what I can tell, can make anyone's #'s look good in that too pass happy offense.

...He was signed off the Dallas practice squad before last week. ...
Copper has played in every Saints game this season. :shrug:Mostly special teams, but he did catch 2 passes in the Carolina game, and one in each of the Baltimore and (second) Tampa games prior to 6 vs Pittsburgh.

He looked awfully sloppy during crunch time...the drop and the fumble were critical mistakes. The Saints were driving for a tie at the time. He rides the pine...despite the obvious talent. Coaches hate mistakes like that.

the real bottom line here is that the only 2 definites for the Saints are Colston the uber-stud, and Horn when healthy. however this is an offense that is in the infancy stage plus Horns status. the reality is that it will probably go back and forth between Coper/henderson until Horn returns.

Michael Lewis playing?
Special teams only. Haven't seen him take a snap on offense since he's been back.
hmmmI hope Payton realizes he can. I hope he has taken the time to learn the new O "backwards and forwards" while he was on PUP. He's pretty darn exciting with the ball and I felt he was a nice sub for a play here and there. He's not great or anything but his breakaway threat commands the Ds attention. He'd ruin any FF value for Copper IMO.

Copper is playing only because he is the healthy guy who knows the playbook. He was with Coach Payton in Dallas. Its pretty common for a new coach to bring in a player experienced in his scheme. Its pretty uncommon for that player to suddenly become good though. Don't get too excited about 1 week.

He cost them the game. It was brutal to watch.
I saw the whole game. Copper seemed adequate most of the game, but I felt embarassed for him at the end. :bag: It was horrible. I know everyone has drops and fumbles, but those were at the WORST TIME and place. Remember watching the fumbling and hoping it wasn't Colston (I have Colston and both receivers have a "1" as a starting jersey #). I was thinking it was Colston the staff would not trust him in the clutch - that is how brutal the fumble/drop was. Thank God it wasn't Colston.

As much as any one play costs a team a game, maybe. But when you lose 2 other fumbles, miss a short FG, allow two 70+ yd runs, and have a critical personal foul penalty that turns a 3rd and 5 into a 3rd and 20, kinda hard for me to pin it on one play or player.

Adequate ? Kid had 6 catches for 90 yds and a TD. He played a good game for a backup WR. Should never have been in that position at the end (see above).
