Terrible Towels handed out at SB (1 Viewer)

I have heard that yellow towels were handed out to fans before the game/after the 1st quarter for free, and no Seattle towels were available.

Anyone else hear this?
Haven't you heard? The NFL wanted the Steelers to win, so this makes perfect sense.

I am sure the NFL really didn't have anything to do with that decision, probably the employees of Ford Field, but it does say a lot.

I didn't hear anything about this... I was only kidding. So I have no idea what this is even in reference to.If true, it might have been Steelers fans handing them out. And if it was employees of Ford Field, what does that say? That employees of Ford Field rooted for the Steelers?

But again, I have no idea if this is true or not.

If Seattle items were not made available, then don't hand out anything. There were 2 teams playing in the Super Bowl I believe.

I am sure if they were handing out free Terrible Towels to the Steeler Fans, they would be free for the Seattle fans too. :P

I heard there was a Super Bowl version of the Terrible Towels...didn't hear anything about them being handed out for free. Does Seattle have Towels?

:2cents:

If they don't, they should go ahead and start. That's there schtick right? Stealing other teams stuff?:12thman:

My brother went to the game. He said that Seattle fans were handed free green "wash cloths" as they went into Ford field. When my brother asked for one he was refused because he was a Steelers fan. When he asked a Seattle fan what they called the green cloths the Seahwak fan said he had no idea.

My brother did not mention anything about anyone giving away free terrible towels. He did say that were selling Terrible Towels with the SB XL logo.

I went to the game and didn't see anything being handed out for free. There were imitation yellow penalty flags being given away by Miller Beer about a block from the field, but that was all.

Stores were selling XL-logo terrible towels around the stadium, but no handouts that I saw.

I was there. Terrible Towels were available for sale. Nobody was giving them away. As far as Seattle towels, none were available that I saw but i will caveat that by saying I am not aware that there was a Terrible Towel equivalant with regards to Seattle.

The Towel is a Steeler thing. Just because Seattle doesn't have one, doesn't mean that the Steeler towels shouldn't be sold. Completely assinine to say otherwise.

With that said, there was a tremedous amount of paraphenalia available for BOTH teams. Anybody moaning about the towels is nothing more than sour grapes. When 75% of the stadium are Steeler fans, one could expect to see alot of yellow towels.

And yet another conspiracy theory debunked.

Thank You.
Way to cherry pick. You are a class act. Like I said, there was PLENTY of merchandise available for BOTH teams.

How about next years Superbowl there are no fans. Would that make it better. :wall:

No one said it was a conspiracy theory.I have read from a few sources that towels were being handed out for free after the 1st quarter.
Not True. I specifically remember asking my friend at halftime (went out to smoke a butt during the Stones concert) if she wanted a towel. I told her I would pay. She said she did not want a towel because she was afraid it was going to hit her in the head.

Apparently the commemorative Seahawk umbrellas were deemed a safety hazard
I heard that Seattle fans had their mouths duct-taped at halftime unless they signed a contract ensuring they would cheer only for the Steelers.

:goodposting: I was there. This is absolutely true. Pittsburgh fans also had the families of all the refs and the Parents of Stevens, Alexander, Josh Brown held hostage and were only returned after a Steeler win was assured.

I was there, Terrible Towels were selling for $20 each. Though they did have a promotion buy 5 Terrible Towels and you get to replace an official for a quarter.

Instant classic. :lmao:

Isn't this sort of a dumb comparison? It's like saying that "no Steelers cowboy hats were ever available at any of the Super Bowls that they played against the Cowboys."The "Terrible Towel" is a Steelers thing. The Seahawks have their own team-specific stuff, though I don't know what it is.

As for giving it away, it sounds like you have a *very* unconfirmed rumor on your hands. Did it really happen? We don't know. Even if it did, who was doing it? We don't know. If it was some rich Steelers fans who wanted every other Steeler fan to have a towel during the game to support the team, then I'd say those are some awesome fans.

In short, I think this is definitely a case of, "Move along. . . nothing to see here."
