Terry Glenn - Cut on His Hand? (1 Viewer)

10:14 PM CDT on Monday, September 25, 2006

BY TODD ARCHER / The Dallas Morning News

IRVING – When the Dallas Cowboys resume practice today, there's a chance they will be without both their starting wide receivers.Terry Glenn suffered a cut to his hand Monday, according to several sources. The sources said the cut is not considered serious, but it's not clear if Glenn will practice today.

Terrell Owens, the Cowboys' other starting receiver, had a plate inserted into his right hand last week.

The Cowboys are counting on Glenn to be an even bigger part of the offense with Owens' availability in doubt for Sunday's game at Tennessee. In two games, Glenn has caught 10 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown.

The receivers' official status is unknown because coach Bill Parcells surprisingly cancelled practice Monday after taking the players through their normal walkthrough session.

No reason was given for Parcells' decision, and the players are scheduled to have practice today.

The Cowboys had no comment. Efforts to reach Glenn and his agent, Jim Gould, were unsuccessful.

Owens expressed hope Friday that he would be able to play against the Titans but said he would definitely play Oct. 8 at Philadelphia, his former team. Rookie free agent Sam Hurd is listed behind Owens on the depth chart, and Parcells ruled out Patrick Crayton sliding into Owens' role.

Crayton backs up Glenn, but if the Cowboys were without Glenn and Owens, then Jamaica Rector and Miles Austin would be active.

Rector, who did not play Week 2 vs. Washington because of an ankle injury, led the NFL in preseason catches with 20. The Cowboys also have receiver Damarius Bilbo on the practice squad.

Well so much for the subscriber contest. Gore is hurt. Alexander is out. Simms is out. Now Glenn is hurt. As soon as Manning or FWP have a bye week, I will be putting up goose eggs.

Jones said he MIGHT practice today, so he thinks he'll be available for this week's game...

Not sure about TO though...

Jerry Jones just said on the radio that he'll probably practice today and should play this weekend...

Glenn practiced today and is fine, per Parcells at his daily PC...

Still not sure about TO for this week. Swelling is down...thinks he'll "do something" tomorrow...

Here is the Parcells PC highlights:

Parcells:

Glenn was out with the hand and is ok. He practiced full today with no problem. Witten's wife is having a baby and should be back tomorrow.

I cancelled practice yesterday because I felt I could get more done today, that's all. I wanted to look at the Miami film more closely.

Glenn was trying to cut some tape off his uniform. He had his hand down his pants and he missed. Fortunately he just cut his hand. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I don't know if TO will play on Sunday. The swelling is down in his hand and he has caught a few balls in practice.

Another reason I wanted to practice today is because I didn't want a day off in the middle of the week. We practice hard today and I will probably run them hard tomorrow.

On Hurd? starting Sunday: There is only one rookie WR starting in the NFL. One. It is a position that I think that the difference in the game is not great between the college and pro game, but the stamina and the strength is different. There are alot of intangibles at the postion. You have to be really good if you are going to be a starter at that position for any length of time.

I don't know why it would be hard to get our team focused (for the Titans). We haven't done anything. They have lost two close games and I think it will be a tough game. I think Collins had a pretty good game last week and they have a young guy that might play. Like any young QB he will have a transition to make it in this game, and it isn't an easy one. You have to be fair to all of the players on the team. The older players deserve a chance to win. Just throwing a guy in there is not the right thing to do for the team. Now I started a rookie at QB once, but he gave us the best chance to win. It's OK if that is the case. I don't think a young QB learns anything by getting killed in there.

I think Romo is different. He wouldn't have done well had I thrown him in early. He wasn't ready. He is ready now and I think would do well if he is needed to play.

no one-liner can be funnier than this...

What the hell are my fantasy players doing? It's like someone sent out a secret memo to all of my players asking that they act as if they were in a 3 stooges episode! It's a joke!

And people are praising Simms for playing through his pain! Witten's wife must be tough as nails!
