Texas lawyers (1 Viewer)

Hey was wondering if anyone could help me out a bit. One of my employees at work recently walked out on her abusive boyfriend, they have a 2 year old daughter that was born in Missouri, however have lived here since early July. She just left one day when he was out with there child. A few weeks have gone by, and she won't allow her to see the kid. The boyfriend lives with his parents, and I guess the help take car of the kid. The ex boyfriend says he has contacted a lawyer and feeds her a bunch of garbage, I know she contacted a woman's center for abused woman, and goes to counseling. The boyfriend is also listed on the Missouri birth certificate. Was wondering what does she need to do? I'm sure child abandonment will be pushed, but being he beat the snot out of her, she was scared and didn't know what to do. Thank you for any info you can give.

Sorry for the blunt, obvious question. Why would she leave without the kid?
I'm assuming, since he beats her, that he figured she would leave if she was ever alone with their child?
Well, unless that was omitted from the story, I have to assume there were times where she was alone with the kid. I just don't see a scenario where its smart to leave your child with someone like that.

I honestly have no truthful answer to that,

She def ####ed up big time... Has she contacted law enforcement or a lawyer? Usually the woman gets favorable treatment in this situation...

per her, she didn't have a stable place to go, and the boyfriend refused to give her to me. She says the cop also says that was best.

She needs to contact a TX lawyer who specializes in child custody issues. They're not married so this sounds like she needs custody hammered out and also a restraining order for her against the boyfriend. Too much is at stake for her to try to figure this out on her own (not that she sounds tremendously bright anyway).
