Thanksgiving - How Blessed Are You (1 Viewer)

It would be interesting to hear some feel good stories...some good things happening in your lives.

In early January,  I had my physical...I just turned 58 years old on Friday.  Found out that my cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar were all extremely high.

I started walking four miles each day at lunchtime at work, changed some eating habits.  Now 11 months later, I have lost 35 lbs, have reversed my blood sugar and blood sugar to the point where it gets too low sometimes.

So I am thankful for good health, and as usual being head strong enough to get desired results....pretty much what I would wish for you.

Awesome to hear. What are some of the eating habits you changed to help you?

One thing I did, is eat chips lower in salt.  The chips the sell with less salt helped the blood pressure.  Recently I tried the old chips again and was surprised how bad it tasted because of all the salt.

When eating fast food, I ate El Pollo Loco, which is grilled chicken...no batter.

I cut down on the sweets about 90 percent...example coffee with one teaspoon of sugar.

No eating after 6:00 PM

I never would drink water but have now gotten use to drinking at least four bottles a day...helps eliminate sugar.

Smaller portions of rice with eliminating pasta ...not entirely.

Learned to like oatmeal...fills me up.

My metabolism has changed which lets me cheat sometimes with a cheeseburger etc..

I was also climbing 66 flights of stairs each day for a few months until I switched to walking alone.

Thanks cubd8

really nice, do you have pamphlets?
No, but some of my co-workers have asked me about the weight loss and have since started walking, and have asked to walk with me.  There are six of my co-workers who have lost a significant amount of weight.  Although I didn't set out to get people to walk, it is a blessing that you were able to influence someone for the good.

Four healthy kids that are all really good kids.  Two out of high school, one Sophomore and one starting HS next Fall.  They are respectful and wonderful human beings and while I recognize my wife and I had a hand in it I’m also just super thankful they are healthy and so far given us almost zero trouble.

My 14 year old son finally had a breakthrough in dealing with his parents' divorce in 2017.  Me and my current wife took him and a buddy to see his brother in Montana in August.  He came back from that trip in a far better mood, as though he realized his stepmom isn't a monster after all.  He's far more sociable with his stepfamily and showing interest in his hobbies again.
