I belive the world is going to give a big :finger: to Wall Street and the Fed in 2014.
Well the fed will just quadruple their interest rates. How you like those apples?
By "finger" I mean the Fed will no longer be the issuers of the world's reserve currency. I see the IMF is getting a little to cozy with the BRICS, and I think they may come to a compromise of which the dollar is just one of 8 national currencies that make up a basket of currencies countries will use to conduct international trade.
Why would countries sitting on mountains of dollars do anything sudden to devalue their asset?
Currency wars could possibly cause half a dozen currency failures around the world before the year ends. The BRICS have been pushing to de-Americanize international trade for years now, and the IMF is taking the BRICS seriously now. The IMF is working in the best interests of international trade, and I have seen the US and the IMF butting heads over this. Just this weekend Blackrock's Fink butted heads with IMF's Lagarde on stage at the DAVOS conference. I believe the IMF already has the solution determined. Now it's just a matter of how and when it gets implemented.

Ever hear that old joke of a bunch of prisoners sitting around telling jokes, but they just shout out numbers? heres's a copy and paste job of one version of it:

It is Fred’s first day in prison. After spending the morning being processed, he is taken to the huge mess hall for lunch. He finds a seat at a table full of inmates who look like they have been behind bars for years. Suddenly, an inmate stands in the middle of the room and yells, “41!” As he sits down, the room erupts in laughter.

Then another prisoner stands and yells, “123!” Again, there is laughter throughout the room.

Puzzled, Fred asks the inmate sitting next to him what’s going on. “Well,” the older inmate says, “Most of us have been here so long that we have heard all the jokes. So we just number them and use the number.”

Fred says, “I love to tell jokes! Give me one.”

“Okay,” says the older inmate. “Everybody loves old 72. It always gets a big laugh”

Fred stands up, waits for the laughter to die down from the last joke, and yells, “72!”

There is nothing but silence as hundreds of inmates just turn and stare at him.

Fred sits down and looks at the inmate who gave him the number. “What happened?” he asks.

The older man shrugs and says, “Some people just can’t tell a joke.”
From now on just type #12 every time you want to say the dollar will no longer be the world's reserve currency and #3 for everytime you want to remind us all of looming hyper inflaiton.

Fracking may indeed be dangerous to the environment- the information we have so far is contradictory and inconclusive.

But to suggest that fracking benefits the "1%" at the expense of the public is disingenuous at best. It has provided thousands of new jobs.
Tim, you're the worst of both worlds.

You're too stupid to bother debating and too serious to be a good fisherman.

And yet, I kind of like you, you crazy mofo of all holy xerography. So no offense. I ain't diving in your pool though.
Lots of good middle class jobs in the fracking industry. Environmental issues aside, I don't see how this can be denied.
I know every Dad grows up hoping his daughter will frack for money.

You see, honey, it involves high pressure injection into a crevice . . .

Or at least Legos.

Hitler built concentration camps specially--made for venture capitalists and hedge fund managers. They were much more luxurious than regular concentration camps, featuring swimming pools, five-star dining, and concierge service.
With all electric appliances & heating.

When the rich are rounded up and gassed to death, he will have a point. Until then, he's making himself look like a horrible, insensitive individual.

I agree the dollar will eventually be decommissioned, but think it'll happen over time.
I have no doubt they will do it over time. You can either remove the bandaid by ripping it off quickly, or bit by bit over time. Either way, it's going to be painful.

The fact that they will do it over time is one reason why I believe life is going to suck for the next few decades.... except for the 1% who reap 95% of the little bit of economic growth that exists. For the other 99% there is but only 5% to go around to help them ease the pain.

Have to say, unless people are actually talking about an actual genocide, I never, ever accept a comparison of anything to the Nazis and the Holocaust.

To be clear, the title of this post is:

The 1% are treated like Jews during the Holocaust
And HuffPo states in its headline:

Rich Businessman Compares Treatment Of The Rich To The Holocaust
However the letter writer, basically the equivalent of a poster on a board like this, not a journalist, ie just a guy, says this:

Regarding your editorial "Censors on Campus" (Jan. 18): Writing from the epicenter of progressive thought, San Francisco, I would call attention to the parallels of fascist Nazi Germany to its war on its "one percent," namely its Jews, to the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the "rich."

This is a very dangerous drift in our American thinking. Kristallnacht was unthinkable in 1930; is its descendent "progressive" radicalism unthinkable now?
Now, nowhere does he say the comparison is to the Holocaust.
What exactly do you think these refer to?
Also confused. He starts out with a flat-out comparison to the holocaust when he refers to Germany's persecution of the 1%, namely the Jews. The only thing this comparison is missing is the word holocaust which was likely emitted for purely stylistic reasons to cement the comparison. Maybe he thought coining the phrase "Occucaust" would be a bit much.

I think my point was that Perkins referred to Kristallnacht, which happened in 1938, being unthinkable in 1930.

Kristallnacht was an act of extreme, widespread, designed political violence. I was confused and trying to make sense of it. I thought if the guy had meant Holocaust, he would have said that. He did not.

Also, take a look at his company:

http://www.kpcb.com/

Nest. Acquired by Google, Nest Co-Founders Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers are reinventing the home to be smart, elegant and beautiful. With the #1 best-selling thermostat and their new CO2 and smoke detector Protect, Nest is changing how we live.
Google of course is at the center of this controversy. As are other major high tech companies. This controversy involves .... public, designed acts of political violence.

This is the actual letter writer:

Tom Perkins is one of Silicon Valley’s pioneers, with a career spanning entrepreneurship, the management of major corporate activities and most importantly, venture capital. In 1972 he formed America’s premiere venture capital business with co-founder Eugene Kleiner. The partnership and the follow-on Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers series of partnerships have created some of the most interesting and innovative businesses in the world.

Prior to Kleiner Perkins, he started a company in the mid-1960’s (University Laboratories) to manufacture lasers based upon his original inventions in optics. The company was successful and merged into Spectra-Physics becoming a major part of that firm’s growth. Later he was the first General Manager of the Hewlett Packard Company’s computer divisions and is credited with establishing the foundation for the enormous growth which that business has enjoyed.

Tom Perkins is a graduate of MIT in Electronic Engineering and Harvard University in Business Administration. He is now, or has been, a Director of the following public corporations: Acuson (Chairman), Applied Materials, Compaq Computer, Corning Glass Works, Genentech (Chairman), Hewlett Packard Company, Hybritech, LSI Logic, The News Corporation, Philips Electronics NV, Spectra-Physics, Symantec and Tandem Computers (Chairman).
Look at the people in the company, it's very diverse.

Sorry, he doesn't sound like a reactionary dummy.

Smart, capable people are also capable of completely idiotic, inflammatory, and self-serving comments.

The fact that this guy is accomplished does not mean he was not an idiot to write the letter and consider it something he would want others to know he wrote. This tripe is the equivalent of writing God Hates #### on a bathroom stall.
