Is this like a "Mony Mony"/get laid, get ####ed thing?Only you and the Greek system at Mizzou (?) know this part of the song."SALT! GOD #### SALT!"Jimmy Buffett - Margaritaville
There's lots of great classic rock available, there's lost of great disco available, but there's only one Margaritaville. Buffett is one of my favorites, and this is his signature song and biggest hit. The relaxed studio version from 1977 is so much more enjoyable than the revved up version he does in concert.
i agreeIf we start to get into "imports" then it's gonna get crazy with songs with diff release dates around the globe...
I am fine with sticking to the US release date rule...
It is cleaner that way...

I think so. Goes like this:Buffett: "Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt ..."Is this like a "Mony Mony"/get laid, get ####ed thing?Only you and the Greek system at Mizzou (?) know this part of the song."SALT! GOD #### SALT!"Jimmy Buffett - Margaritaville

:crisisaverted:I think commish discretion is called for in situations like this one. Hard to make a blanket rule.

You know my opinion. I only want songs that I personally heard on my radio in 1977 included in the draft. If we start to get into "imports" then it's gonna get crazy with songs with diff release dates around the globe...

I was actually going to rule in your favor, since, in my first post, I see nothing about "American release," but I agree with your last post, in that the waters could get muddy if we're picking off of rare Zappa imports.Just wanted to make sure before passed on songs from it and then others scopped them up...God I'm a music:crisisaverted:I think commish discretion is called for in situations like this one. we have always played in the past where only US releases were acceptable. it used to be listed in the rules, but everybody just knew it after awhile. it gets into too many grey areas when releases from other countries come into play.I was actually going to rule in your favor, since, in my first post, I see nothing about "American release," but I agree with your last post, in that the waters could get muddy if we're picking off of rare Zappa imports.

I just don't think there are that many albums where the US release is much different than the UK release. It's weird that this hasn't come up (that I know of), actually.we have always played in the past where only US releases were acceptable. it used to be listed in the rules, but everybody just knew it after awhile. it gets into too many grey areas when releases from other countries come into play.I was actually going to rule in your favor, since, in my first post, I see nothing about "American release," but I agree with your last post, in that the waters could get muddy if we're picking off of rare Zappa imports.
oh it has come up. you weren't in the first 2 drafts we had. this comes up with a lot of singles. many singles were released in the UK, before the US, and many times this makes the year it was released different. the rule was made after TAN's drafted "Shout" by Tears for Fears. It wasn't released yet in the US in the year we were doing, but it had been released in the UK.I just don't think there are that many albums where the US release is much different than the UK release. I agree. And I hate seeing an old song being picked that has no business in the year we're drafting.I'm not interested in seeing Chattanooga Choo-Choo in a '77 draft just because the ### -damned Andrew Sisters put out a live album that year! You know my opinion. I only want songs that I personally heard on my radio in 1977 included in the draft. If we start to get into "imports" then it's gonna get crazy with songs with diff release dates around the globe...

I've got 1:2 odds that Junior is taking that song.I understand about singles. I was just referring to whole albums. Nevermind.
