The 1977 Song Draft (1 Viewer)

Hov's pick:

Steve Miller Band – “Swingtown”
This song exemplified why 8-tracks sucked. The long intro that builds with each instrument joining in, was cut in two - fading out, click, then fading back in . . .
Exactly. I still have some floating around. Last one I can remember buying was Def Leppard - High and Dry. First one I ever owned was Elton John - Don't Shoot Me.
I'd post a list of some that I had, but don't want to give any ideas away . . .

Junior timed out.

Welp, I've waited on this long enough. My wedding song. Sigh.

Eric Clapton - "Wonderful Tonight"

gotta get some disco i guess:

ABBA - "Take A Chance On Me"

take a chance, take a chance, take a take a take a chance

take a chance, take a chance, take a take a take a chance

take a chance, take a chance, take a take a take a chance

take a chance, take a chance, take a take a take a chance

take a chance, take a chance, take a take a take a chance

take a chance, take a chance, take a take a take a chance

take a chance, take a chance, take a take a take a chance

take a chance, take a chance, take a take a take a chance

This song is actually a better listen when you realize that the song's writer, Lindsay Buckingham, was writing it a "F- You" song to his ex, Stevie Nicks, after he found thta she was sleeping with their drummer, Mick Fleetwood.

I've read quotes from Stevie Nicks explaining how hard it was recording the background vocals to the chorus when she knew that the song's lyrics were full of hate...about her.

Fleetwood Mac- Go Your Own Way

Nice pick and I enjoy your write-ups.

yeah, well ABBA had some pretty complex things going on when working on "take a chance", like they had to pick out platform shoes, and what kind of glitter they were going to wear, it was like, pretty intense.eta, i nearly took this song with my pick. weird, huh?

I heard that Frida and Bjorn had a huge fight over the blowdryer before one of their last gigs. Ugly.

Carly Simon - Nobody Does It Better

The best of the James Bond themes, IMO. I was going to say something about my wife singing this to me at our wedding, but that habenero thread has given us enough laughs for this week.

I still remember CBS's NFL pregame show with Brent Musberger and Irv Cross doing a Walter Peyton video montage with this song in the background.

this was one of the first songs i learned to play on guitar, so i kind of have a soft spot for it:

Pink Floyd - "Pigs On The Wing (Part 1)"

It's Star Wars. It's Disco. And it was the #1 Single the week of my birth!

7.11 Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band - Meco Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk

If you've seen the movie, Zillatitty's song is played during the opening credits and RMoG's song is played in the bar where Han kills Greedo.

One is from the soundtrack, the other is a "disco" remake by another artist that spent 2 weeks at #1.
