I am beginning to think CB is actually the more likely pick. I just don't see Gettleman reaching and there may well be a couple of first round CBs there.

Agreed...but I share your thought on if a WR drops that far...Lee even OB dropping and I'd crap my pants.

Noting the draft is exceptional at wide receiver, he said he wouldn't be "sad'' if a top cornerback fell to No. 28. He also said he wouldn't hesitate to pick up what he called a "blue goose'' pass-rusher or defensive tackle.

"When you have made up your mind you're going to take a position because you need to fill that spot, more often than not you're going to make a mistake,'' Gettleman said.

Pretty sure they will still go BPA, but I do hope they don't go OL. OL is deep, but it seems like 1.28 won't be a sweet spot for BPA at tackle.

I'd love for a solid T to be there at 28 but I just don't see it happening. T is a demand position, with a history of high picks being used on them, a lot of early picks being used on them and we have a lot of teams with T needs this year. I guess that's every year, hence the demand. I think BPA will likely be WR but there's a chance it's CB. I'd like a guy like Fuller at that spot if he's available. He's rising fast, though. To me there are 4 CBs worth a 1st round selection, then a group of about 5 who are worth 2-3 round selections. There are about 6 WRs who are worth 1st and more than I can name worth 2-3.

Agree with all of you guys. Honestly, at 28, we could be looking at all kinds of scenarios. If someone like Star falls that meets a need, that would be great. Let's hope a lot of QBs end up going early and/or teams trade up to get them.

 
If they do want to trade down, #28 is a good spot to be in. There will be teams looking to move into the late 1st to get their QB, and I think both NE and DEN will also want to make such deals with these teams. The 5th year option that is available when drafting in the 1st round, but not the 2nd, makes those late 1sts that much more valuable to teams wanting QBs.

Vibe here is that they'll both play and compete for the starting position. If he can stay healthy, he'll play. Whether it's at nickel or safety is anyone's guess.

Godfrey would make an interesting choice at slot. Physical, has 11 interceptions so he can catch, fast enough to blitz from the position. I'd like to see it personally.

 
Well?? What are the guesses for #1? I'm predicting a trade down to round two....we have to wait til tomorrow to see the plan begin to unfold :coffee:

 
One of Moses or Lee should be there. If Ari takes Carr, we could get quite a haul for Bridgewater.

Duh, I get that. I am saying that thinking Lee probably wouldn't be there that they fell in love with Benjamin more than they would have. They obviously made the choice they wanted, but I agree that I am not sure if it was the correct pick for them. He just seems like he is one of the high potential busts in this talented WR class.

 
I would have preferred Lee, but trust in Gettleman selecting the better potential player.

 
I've been thinking for some time that Benjamin was a likely bust pick until Carolina picked him. He's going to get tons of targets and with Cam it could work. Stock is up for K Benjamin.

 
I'm ok with Benjamin. I always wanted them to get a big WR for Cam. "Experts" didn't seem too high on Kelvin, but I recall them not being too high on Alshon Jeffrey as well.

I was getting ansy when divisional rivals took WR. Hated to see Tampa get Mike Evans and then the Saints grabbing Cooks. But I'm happy with Kelvin.. just hope he develops into a star.

 
I wanted Benjamin but I wanted Lee more. If Lee would have come out last year he would have been one of the first receivers taken. His fall this season wasn't all on him. I just didn't think he'd be there. Well we'll see how this works out I guess.

 
Not sure on Benjamin, but you cannot coach that size. After years of watching Jimmy Graham flat out dominate the division, they went and got a beast of their own.

I thought Lee or an OT was the safer pick, but they seemed very confident in the pick, sending it in quickly.

Did notice two things on twitter that gave me hope (and not digging back to find them specifically):

1) Jonathan Jones - beat writer for the Panthers said he had two seperate evaluators tell him had Benjamin gone back to school, he'd have been a top 5-10 pick in 2015 (one within the organization and one outside the Panthers org).

2) Ricky Proehl reportedly banged the table last year for Keenan Allen in the 2nd round and was overruled. Reportedly he was banging the table again for Benjamin this time... in Proehl I trust - arguably the Panthers best coach at what he does.

As for today, wouldn't be at all opposed to double dipping at WR (Allen Robinson, Jordan Matthews, Cody Latimer, Donte Moncrief). I realize the line is a concern, but there are still capable lineman in free agency if they want to invest that $4MM they saved from Godfrey. Giving Cam two big WRs with Cotchery in the slot and Olsen working the seam would be very, very nice to see.

CB/S and OT are also still targets -- Moses, Bitonio likely go early, but if one slipped. Pierre Desir and Stanley Jean-Baptiste would be great to see at CB.

Funny, but Thomas Davis was talking about Benjamin at 1.28 yesterday on the radio. He was hugely in favor of it.

 
If they add another WR, hopefully it would be Robinson or the kid from Clemson. Perhaps they can figure in Hearst (sp?) from UNC also??

 
I would love for Jordan Matthews to somehow slip down in the second. Not sure if they would take him but I would be "banging the table" for him for sure.

Encouraging that Proehl is high on Benjamin. Here's hoping for the best.

If they go into the fourth or fifth looking for WR...wouldn't mind them snagging Gallon if he's there. Reminds me a lot of Smith in terms of work ethic and chip on his shoulder for being "too small"

 
So the general consensus around FBG community and twitter draft is Benjamin will bust. Cecil seems to hate him. Sigmund doesn't seem too down on him and recognizes the upside.

Can't disagree with any of that really as I did not like him predraft.

Gotta say though, fantasy wise it is hard to ignore the upside and oppurunity

Yeah those groups are not always infallible. If Ricky is sold I am.

I don't care what the FBG community thinks about him. They have been wrong plenty of times.

Yeah an awful lot of bust predictors out there for Cam.

 
hmmmmm......didn't see that coming. I have been wondering for some time what they were going to do with the cap issues at DE. So what does this tell us about Johnson long term with the Panthers? Or is this writing on the wall that Hardy is a one year rental?

My guess is that he will be Hardy's replacement.
