The 2nd tier of WRs (1 Viewer)

Apologies if there is a thread for this already, I searched but couldn't see one.

How do you rank the WRs after Lamb and Hill are widely regarded to as 1 A/B?

  • Chase
  • St. Brown
  • Jefferson
  • And to a further extent AJ Brown and Garrett Wilson
There doesn't seem to be much of a consensus for this second tier of WRs.

St. Brown
Jefferson
Chase
Brown
Wilson

But I have Chase closer to Brown and Wilson than to St. Brown and Jefferson. Due to his contract situation and the Bengals' tendency to start slow.

Personally, for me:

Lamb, Hill

St Brown, Jefferson, Chase, Wilson

AJB, London

Kupp, Puka, MHJ, Nico, Waddle, Evans

Flowers, Dell, Deebo, Aiyuk, Metcalf, Adams, Olave, Moore, Nabers, Cooper, Smith, Rice

Diontae, Pittman, Tee, JSN, Diggs, Odunze, Kirk, McConkey, McLaruin

Reed, Hopkins, Godwin, BJT, Cooks, Worthy, Watson, Pickens, Jamo, Marquise, Shaheed, Palmer

Sutton, Myers, Coleman, Shakir, Samuel, Allen

St Brown is as safe as safe gets.

If you want a higher ceiling, Chase then JJ for me.

As someone who owned St. Brown in multiple leagues last year I just don't see the value this year. I prefer Hill, Lamb, Jefferson, and Chase for sure and then would consider St. Brown.

I’ve had St Brown, Lamb and Chase and Chase was the only one that had given me the most doubt

All y’all sleepin on AJB. I have him in that 2nd tier.
You may be right about that considering the offense Moore is installing. The only hesitation I have is when Moore had two good WRs in Dallas, two seasons with Amari & CeeDee, the target distribution was 130:111 (2020 with 105 to Gallup as well) & 120:104 (2021, Schultz also had 104). In 2022 when Lamb had 156 targets there really wasn't a true #2 WR on the Cowboys. I am not sure we can pencil AJB in for 150+ targets when Devonta Smith is such a good WR opposite him. Throw in Barkley who is probably a better receiver out of the backfield than either Zeke or Pollard and Goedert and the completely unknown factor of Jahan and I am a little hesitant to push AJB into the 150 target tier along with ARSB, Chase, CeeDee, Hill, JJ etc.

I'm not worried about Dotson's impact on AJB. IMO he's the alpha, and anything Dotson takes (which I expect to be a small slice of the pie) will come at Goedert & Smith's expense.

I'm also a bit concerned about the # of receptions for Barkley as a Barkley shareholder - I agree with you he's a good receiver. But Hurts doesn't seem to check down to the RBs as much as say, Danny Dimes did.

Time will tell what this offense does, but I have AJB as a top 6 WR.

Dotson wasn't the primary point of my post.

Devonta is the primary concern for AJB's utilization. They both apparently had great camps.

I personally think he finishes a top 3-4 wr this season and I’d give him a 15% chance to finish as the WR1. I totally agree that he’s being slept on
Not possible his is being slept on when his ADP is 5.
Last I saw it was closer to 9-10 than 5.

Where are you seeing 5? He's currently 1.09 on NFFC, and FF calc PPR ADP has him 11.

WR5 or 5th overall?

Shocking if the latter.

Fifth overall. I was surprised too.

Love this thread. Ranking WRs is a great exercise for me even if I'm wrong. LOL

#1 Hill - has done it several years in a row. And has a solid #2 guy on the other side plus run game preventing too much double team coverage. But no mistake he IS the man.

#2 - Lamb - was groomed for this and last year stepped up and proved them right. Has little competition for targets and a gunner for a QB. In his prime. Only flaw is the hold out. How will it impact early games?

#3 - ARSB - plays in a fast paced O has a track record now and is probably the safest floor of the bunch. DET looks stacked.

#4-5 Chase and JJ - Chase question is how his hold out impacts him and the fact he never has had a year like the guys above. JJ has a new QB and not an exciting name to be sure. No question of their talent but other factors drop them below the top 3 for me. Of course this is the tier I will probably be choosing in as 1.06.

#6 - Wilson - Assuming Rogers doesn't stub his toe early on I think Wilson ascends. Could end up in the top 3 WRs in fantasy FB.

#7 - AJB - love the talent but the eggles have a lot of options including Smith and Barkley to move the chains. I could be wrong here (or everywhere really) but I think they want to keep AJ in one piece for the playoffs and won't ring that bell like an alpha reciever on a team with fewer options.

Wife is calling so gotta stop there. For now.

How about 0.5 PPR formats specifically? How would you rank this tier?
I don’t think I change it much. I’m more likely to bump the RBs ahead of them than change the order of receivers.

Maybe ARSB drops behind JJ, AJB or Chase, but depending how I feel that day I might do that anyway. Depends if I’m looking for ceiling or floor.

I also question his TD upside. Jalen's career high is 23 TD passes.

How big is the drop off from say St Brown or Jefferson to AJ Brown or Wilson? Is it worth moving down 2-4 spots in a snake draft and landing one of the latter, or would you stay put take one of the original two?

Lamb & Hill are league of their own but can Hill continue this Pace for 1 more yr?
After that its a pick em between St. Brown & AJB. St Brown is just more fun while AJB is safe
Then Chase
And I think due to the QB situation I much rather Wilson over JJ,.. Donald at QB all yr is rough

ARSB is as safe as it gets.
