The Audible - Ask 5 with Daniel Jeremiah - movethesticks.com (1 Viewer)

I found it fascinating to here Daniel say that most scouting organizations won't move a guy up or down more than a notch depending on what they see at these all-star games and in workouts. I totally believe that's how he, and the groups he's worked with, do it...but I think NFL draft history suggests that a lot of other organizations are far more fluid with their draft boards. Lots of guys come from nowhere to go on Day One and the counter is also true.

One thing I would love to hear him talk about...in all his years of scouting, who are the players that he really felt strongly about but couldn't build consensus with his peers and thus, they missed? And also on the flipside, who did he think were stars in the making, but his bosses/colleagues disagreed, and in retrospect he's glad their counter view won the day?

:thumbup:Good questions Woodrow! DJ will be in Mobile, and I'll get Ask 5 with him LIVE! from the sidelines of the Senior Bowl next week!!

Love DJ. He seriously knows his stuff and does a great job discussing it too. One of my favorite Twitter follows.

RE: teams' draft boards; I think that there are definitely teams out there that get carried away watching bowl games/Senior Bowl, workouts, etc., but I also think that often times the big name media guys like Kiper have their lists and only start to react to information that they are getting concerning draft boards around the league.

So it's more a case of Kiper et al reconciling their crappy draft boards with the more realistic draft boards of teams around the league. So it LOOKS like a player is shooting up the boards around the league, when in reality, teams already had that guy higher on their boards and Kiper is just now figuring it out.

:goodposting: Spot on!

Interesting that Jeremiah doesn't think that the Chan Gailey hire was a bad hire. Even said that Gailey is fairly highly regarded around the league too. Huh.
