The Audible at The NFL Combine (1 Viewer)

Cecil Lammey

Footballguy
Big Sean Baca will be checking in every day on the show from the combine at the end of this week (Thu-Mon). Sean is working for Next Level Scouting (John Murphy's company) and we are very happy to get some of his time. Any questions from the shark pool?

How to I get download these podcasts, I've never done this before.
There's a couple of different ways to catch the audible. First is the rss feed:

http://rss.footballguys.com/theaudiblebeta.rss

Another way (the best way IMHO)

go to Apple.com and download Itunes (it's free)

Then click on this link

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore...st?id=178083008

Subscribe to the Audible (it's free) and the latest episode will be automatically downloaded to your Itunes/Ipod.

Enjoy!

is the "slippery noodle" still there?? been 15 years... man i am old...

all about Booker and Jackson, and the 2nd tier WRs, Meachem and down, steve smith USC, everyone is already talking Jacoby Jone, is he invited?

The Audible on a road trip starts again Wednesday night! :lmao:

In the meantime be sure to look out for our interview with Alex Russian (top 50 hs prospect from texas - committed to LSU) and Pasquino checks in from the FSTA conference in Chicago!

Here's Big Sean's scouting report on Alex Russian:

Alex has incredible blocking technique and strength, that could only come from extensive conditioning and practice with the o-line. He stays true to the block, staying within his frame and utilizing his upper body strength to control the defender. His greatest attribute is definitely his leg drive after contact. It is his leg drive that allows him turn defenders or simply run over them at the point of contact.

Alex has tremendous eye hand coordination thru the catch, great concentration in traffic, and thru the second and third levels of the defense and body control both in the air and going to the ground to make the catch. The release from the line, however, is his best asset as a receiver as his punishing blocking style combined with an excellent swim move allows for an "earned" free release.

Slowness of foot and inability to turn up field or overall athleticism after the catch will have to improve, there is little doubt it will as Alex shows great footwork and quickness on traps and counters along the line of scrimmage and will certainly apply it to his route running. Size, technique, soft, sure hands and leg drive combined with an obvious tenacity will make him as asset to the tigers run game and eventually the "security blanket" big T.E.. quarterbacks love so much.

:lmao:

Any more questions for our NFL Combine coverage?
In general I like to hear about the lesser-known RBs that come out of nowhere to post impressive numbers...this may be more of a "Pro-Day" topic since most players at the combine are fairly well known, but nonetheless I do like to focus on trying to find the next FWP.

I`d be interested to hear how some of the players that were injured or had down years look , Trent Edwards and Isaiah Stanback come to mind on the qb end of things.

The Noodle has been here for over a hundred years. It isn't going anywhere. Same with St. Elmo's shrimp cocktail. Staples of 'Naptown, both.

I want to know more about Anthony Gonzalez. The more I hear about him the more I like him. I was hoping he would fall into the early second, but now I wonder if he has a rising stock. I want to know how he performs this week.

That shrimp cocktail at St. Elmo's is good. I will tell you that if you go there you have to get it and be prepared. Make sure you get a big ol'scoop of cocktail sauce on your shrimp.

I'm sure someone has asked this already, but I thought it may still be good to hear from Cecil on this. Can Footballguys.com get an official copy of all the finalized results from the combine? Just out of curiousity I called the combine and was told the results are all private and owned by the NFL. What the NFL chooses to publish on NFL Network and NFL.com is pretty much their business.

Well no wonder I can't find anything!

We will be posting all the official results at NFLdraftguys! :lmao: That's odd that they told you that when all results are posted on NFL Network.

I was under the impression that all the results are not posted on NFL Network. I checked the combine page at NFL.com and it doesn't list all the results, only the top 5 or so in each catagory. Is there another link you could provide that has all the results from every athlete? Thanks as always!

Hey Cecil, Bloom and I discussed the explanation of various times and measures posted all over the place last year and NFL Draft Scout had a great explanation as a disclaimer (footnoted) to their 40 times. The simple truth is there are no official times. I think you would be more credible to report accordingly and post the variety.

Do you know which time the NFL references here.

Those are just the times someone or group decided to post. I'm sure you see the discrepancies if you looked around. NFL.com has Henry's 4.33 as a 4.40. They have Peterson at 4.40 instead of 4.38, etc. Nothing official. Last year Gil Brandt openly disputed times posted at NFL.com differing with the times he opted to post in his NFL.com Combine blog. :bye:
