The Audible interview with Matt Waldman (1 Viewer)

Looking forward to it. I always love reading Matt's work on FFToday.com. Just waiting/hoping/praying for the day that FBG hires him as a staff member. He's very innovative (check out his CRANK scores) and thoughtful. I hope this is the start of long relationship with Matt.

Thanks fellas, I like what Cecil, Sigmund, and the rest of the crew are doing over at NFLDraftGuys and I enjoyed talking with them earlier this week.

Matt is a great interview. Excellent speaking voice for radio and long detailed responses. This was a good listen. I absolutely share his concerns for Meachem, but I think like many others he's underestimating the best receivers a little. I think the second tier he likes so much really is very very good, and a couple sure could prove better than the top tier studs in the right situation. So, his comments have a built in safety valve even though he seems out on a limb.

In a moch around here Ginn goes to Dallas, and Dallas expert Ridgelake complains about the wimpy track guy and asks for Meachem. Ginns game film and even his highlights are always loaded with him going over the middle. He is fearless and incredibly dangerous after the catch with grass in both directions. He was a GREAT defensive player in HS and he still loves to hit. This is no wimp. He's just light. Meachem truly has looked fearful of the middle. I have written at length about toughness in wrs. Something Matt and I agree on very strongly, btw, and Meach is the best candidate to bust. I know Sig thinks he's done the most to move way up, but the real story isn't January to April. It's football games. I concur with Matt and wanted put a little effort into explaining. Meach is the Troy Williamson of this draft, and I probably would prefer a second tier WR (or two) to him. It's Ginn, Jarrett, Bowe, who I think will all be fine (and probably dandy).

We also line up on the QBs this year. Some may remember I have called this the year of the QB. I did expect a few more good ones to declare (Colt and Brian), but the second tier QBs are better than last years, and they are very good. The Trent Edwards comments made me feel like Matt has access to my thoughts. I like Edwards better than Quinn.

Great stuff Matt. Nice to "hear" from you.

Nice to hear from you as well Commish...good call on MJD last year. Hope all's well with you.

Ginn is definitely no wimp. You can't be a good open field runner or kick return specialist if you aren't willing to sacrifice your body. I'm just not sold on his hands. I feel his lack of technique catching the football with his hands will make him inconsistent over the middle or in tight coverage which will limit him out of the gate.

I love Bowe's potential and think Jarrett will be "what you see is what you get--both good and bad (hands, size, toughness, but some immaturity and not a burner), but I guess I'm just very enamored with Smith and Hill...two players that I just think were being underestimated until they measured well at the combine...

They guys that strike me as the "Troy Williamson's" are Meachem, Rice, and possibly Allison. Of course, if Williamson can improve his hand/eye coordination as he's working on this offseason, we'll have to find a better comparison...

I really can't wait to see more of Mike Walker. His QB situation was not good and I look forward to seeing how he does with better quality passers.

We'll have to catch up sometimes soon, Commish...
