The Audible interview with Tom Kowalski (1 Viewer)

everyone-

we have secured an interview with Tom Kowalski, the Lions beat writer from MLive.com

What questions would the Shark Pool like to ask Kowalski?

From Wikipedia:

Tom Kowalski, nicknamed The Killer, has been the Detroit Lions beat writer for the better part of two decades. In addition to writing for Booth Newspapers, Kowalski also contributes to MLive.com and updates his blog, the Lions Bulletin. As part of his role on the site, Kowalski answers questions from Lions fans and attempts to be a voice of reason in the Lions chat room. He often takes a controversial analysis, such as when he stated that 90 percent of the Lions offensive ineptitude in 2005 was attributed to Joey Harrington, and also that the Lions were talking about cutting Harrington before anyone else had reported it.

He can be heard on his weekly radio show on Monday nights on WDFN during the season and seen on FOX2's pregame show.

We are recording later this week!

I would like to know his take on the "Fire Millen" movement. Does he ever see the Lions being successful with Millen as GM?

I would like to hear some comparison between Kevin Jones' injury and Teddy Lehman's, or if there are others who have had this, especially if any are RB's.

Are there any free agent pass rushers that interest the Lions?

Regarding the LB's, is Teddy Lehman done? Have they given up on Boss Bailey?

The safeties to me always seem to be a step slow...wondering what the prevailing opinion is about the secondary in general.

Is it a foregone conclusion that Damien Woody is going to be cut? If so, What are the Lions looking to do regarding the line?

The good questions I had were already asked above, but a few more are....

- Does he see Barry very often, and what is he doing with his time these days

- Where did he get his nickname "Killer"

- What are his thoughts about Marinelli and Martz

- Will Lions trade up to get an extra 1st round pick (like they did in 2004), and who will they target with both #1 and #2 picks.

- How good a chance do they have of signing WR K.Curtis, if not Curtis, who else are they high on?

- Mike Williams role? Why don't they move him to TE

- Will Martz take the Chargers' HC gig?

Ask him what he thinks about Dan O's chances on becoming the starting QB.Thanks
In line with this can the question be posed about McCown as well. If either can be considered the Lions QB of the future or if either has a legit chance at unseating Kitna. If they draft a QB who is more likely to be let go :Orlovsky or McCown?

I think TK has covered this many times. Mike Williams not only won'tmove to TE, but most are in agreement that he would be terrible at it.

Are the Lions even considering QB, Peterson or C. Johnson at pick 1.02 or is it a given the team addresses DL or OL with that pick?

Where is Calhoun in recovery?

How is J. Scott coming along?

Mike Williams actually played and caught a TD in his last game against the Cowboys. Was that fact or fiction, meaning has the kid turned a corner or did he just end up in the right place/right time against the right coverage in that game.

I'd like to hear about Bly - Where he might end up, what sort of return (if anything) he might bring.

Also, has he heard anything about any preliminary talks with any teams wanting to trade up to the #2 pick? What sort of package could the Lions possibly get to trade down from that spot, and from whom? Etc...

I agree, and remember the reports, but that was over a year ago. People/attitudes change over time, and I think it's a win-win situation using MW at TE. I don't know how terrible anyone could be at throwing a chip-block and then sprinting down the seam? Perhaps the question should have been worded, "Is there any more talk about moving Big Mike to TE?" and Does Killer think it would be a good move?

What's the scoop with Shaun Rogers? Is he with the Marinelli program or is he on the trading block?

What free agents are the Lions likely to be in the running for?

Who does he see as potential suitors for Bly, James Hall and Marcus Bell?

How is Woody progressing with the weight loss/control program?

What (i.e. money, player, etc.) to get a quality middle linebacker?

Done and done.

Kowalski is good people.

We talked about:

- the #2 overall pick and the lions the plans

- the future of their QB position, including Kitna and Orlovsky specifically

- Kevin Jones foot

- Brian Calhoun's knee and future

- Mike Furrey's future

- Kevin Curtis as an FA target

- the future of the MLB position in Detroit

and more...

That was a good listen. I hope he's wrong about Calhoun.

I know you didn't ask him specifically about Millen, but his comments about players they have drafted says a lot about that score.

Kowalski has been updating his Lions Bulletin weblog all day with interviews and insights from the combines. Today's posts include a one-on-one interview with Mike Martz, a take on the whispers of a Josh McCown trade and a lengthy recap of Joe Thomas' interview.
