Rick's bio:

RICK GOSSELIN

HOMETOWN: Detroit.

EDUCATION/CAREER TRACK: Graduated from Michigan State in 1972, then spent two years working news for United Press International in Detroit, two years working for UPI sports in New York, nine years working as UPI's Midlands sports editor in Kansas City, four years as Chiefs/NFL beat reporter for the Kansas City Star, two years as Cowboys writer for The Dallas Morning News and 12 years as the NFL writer for The News.

MOST UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE ON THE JOB: Sitting at the hotel bar with Jerry Jones that night in Orlando, Fla., in March 1994 when he decided he'd had enough of Jimmy Johnson as coach of the Cowboys.

SOMETHING PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME: I played hockey for a media all-star team in Detroit and once scored a goal against the Detroit Red Wings Old-Timers in a charity game at Olympia. As a high school player, I once scored a hat trick in a game at the Olympia. Love those "Original Six" buildings.

IF I HAD TWO SPARE HOURS, I WOULD: Take a golf lesson and learn how to hit a driver.

MOST MEMORABLE SPORTING EVENT I'VE COVERED: Impossible to pick just one, so I'll give you five, in no particular order:

• 1, My first Super Bowl – X between the Cowboys and Steelers.

• 2, 1983 NCAA basketball championship game between North Carolina State and Houston.

• 3, 1984 Orange Bowl between Miami and Nebraska.

• 4, 1971 baseball All-Star Game in Detroit, where all the future Hall of Famers homered and Reggie Jackson banged one off the light tower.

• 5, Speedskater Bonnie Blair's world-record sprints at 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary.

• Honorable mention: Troy Aikman's first college start as a freshman at Oklahoma against Kansas. (He lost.)

Rick gets more inside information on the draft than anyone except MAYBE - MAYBE Mike Mayock.

enjoy!

Agreed on Goose. He covers the NFL here in Dallas as good as anyone, he has a slight bias to the 'Boys however. I trade emails with him on occasion about the Falcons.

Enjoyed it. I think you guys are growing as interviewers, and I look forward to listening in on many an Audible, but the next time and expert opens with something compelling like "there's seven blue chip prospects in this draft" please follow up. It really isn't obvious who those seven are to me. He gave us the top two QBs, Peterson and Johnson is obvious. Thomas, Willis and Landry? Not Willis but Adams? That's what his mock would suggest. Anyhoo, that seemed like a hot topic he offerred and comments about Hall, Willis, Okoye etc., would have been interesting.

He seemed to be leaking on Chris Henry in the second round. This guy knows things, but there's a huge difference in what Mike Bell did at AZ and Henry. Enjoyed listening to him talk about small schoolers and I just wish he gave you guys more time.

If you care about the draft, put down whatever you're doing and listen to this interview. We were excited and honored to have Goose on in April, a special privilege for draft geeks like us.

Last year he said there were 14 "blue chip" prospects, btw. So even with nice elite talent we are half as good this year? I need to curb my growing enthusiasm and go back to whining about this sucky class. He's right about the RBs being slow, but really has anyone noticed that this class is pretty slow?

Thanks for the feedback CC, it's always appreciated. We had to WORK to just get the 10 minutes with him, he's CRAZY busy now. He's the type of guy we could talk to for days. :(

It's funny Cec and I speculated on who the 7 were as soon as the interview was over. The Henry comment was weird - seems like lots of big names are slotting this guy in the first day, so who am I to argue?Gosselin's rankings definitely have the mark of authencity with the right small school names in the right spots. Barbre is picking up massive buzz - we're excited to be talking to him on Tuesday.

The Wrs and DBs are not slow, but after my post on the Texans and pass rushing DEs from this morning I re-checked the pure pass rushers past the first couple there are not guy many speed rush candidates DE, but many go a good amountstrong side De candidates. The same held true at OLB. My guess is that lack of speed past the top candidates is why the class as a whole is not that highly regraded.
