Great show guys

Can you talk a bit about some rookies who seem to be tearing up mini camps...I'm wondering whether or not that changes their role in their offense and your guys outlook for them this season. LeSean McCoy and James Davis seem to be killing it so far? More touches for McCoy? Will Davis take over at some point?

Also now that Derrick Mason is back do you expect him to put up numbers like last year (80-1000-5) or do you see a decrease (or increase with the maturation of Flacco)?

Love the new additions to the FBG's podcast page lately, everytime I check you guys seem to be putting up new shows!!!

Thanks

Hey Bloom and Lammey,

Can you have some discussion around the QB battles that are taking place in training camp? Who do you think we see as the week 1 starter and more importantly who ends up the starter as the year wears on?

Vikings - I think it will be Rosenfels after hearing Jackson might be have been 3rd on the depth chart pre-injury

49ers - Seems like the Niner brass want Smith but I see Hill as the best option

Lions - This battle seems neck and neck (Kowalski is really high on Stafford so far)

Bucs - This is a big week for Freeman but I think we see Leftwich or McCown to start the year.

Raiders - Is this really a battle? I think it's Russell's job to lose.

Browns - I like Quinn to win out here but not sure

Jets - Recent reports are showing this battle as a dead heat, who is going to win out?

To a lesser extent, the Broncos. Is there a battle here?

Thanks,

Daddyfatsacks

Gentleman-

Can you tell us what type of impact the injury to Maake Kemoeatu will mean to the Panthers as well as how the NFC South itself will be impacted? What type of FF numbers will now be adjusted upwards in terms of the running games within the div for the Saints, Falcons and the Bucs?

What's the deal with Braylon Edwards? Any word as to what his mystery injury is? Will his 09 season look closer to 07 or 08 stats?

Cecil & Sig,

I've tried out a dozen other fantasy football podcasts and couldn't get through a single one of them, so I've been listening to the Audible twice each week instead. Is that wrong? It's just nice to hear people talk who know their stuff.

Question: Joining a league where QB completions are worth a whopping 1 point each. Obviously guys like Brady, Brees, Manning, and Warner will be gone by pick #4 as it is a ridiculously heavy QB league. I know you aren't high on Matt Cassel this year, but would you consider QB's like Matt Cassel, who will be playing catchup all season, later in the draft, in a league that gives 1 pt. per completion, or should I go after a upper echelon guy and nab McNabb in the early rounds, and is also in pass heavy offense?

Disclaimer: I know it's a terrible scoring system, but I just can't turn down any fantasy league offers knowing that I have access to the best info in fantasy land at footballguys.com. Easy money!

Great show, clearly the best football show (not just fantasy football) on itunes.

Question:

I was offered a trade in a keeper auction league. I have J. Stewart RB for $28 and the D. Williams owner has offered P.Rivers $4 in a trade.

I am weak at QB and Strong at RB but I am afraid to make the other team too strong as he will have both Car RBs for less than $60 (250 cap)

I see Stewart is much more highly rated on the dynasty list but the deal sounds good to me as it frees up cap room for me and settles my QB problems. Rivers will be a starter for me and Steward won't unless D.Williams gets hurt.

Standard scoring that leans a little TDs

What do you think?

J. Stewart for P.Rivers?

Thanks for your advice!

Last week, you guys talked about the value of "upside" versus quality depth. My thought is that the greatest overlooked opportunity to find upside (redreft) is with veterans in good siutations to have career type years or to get turned around. Everyone is looking for the hot rookie, but talk about some guys with situational upside to become this year's Thomas Jones, Antonio Bryant and Kurt Warner.

If you don't mind talk about what should FFers look for when evaluating this type of upside versus just knowing a player is young and physically talented, which is the conventional idea of upside.

Great job with the show boys!

What are your expectations for Steve Smith this year. I have the 5th pick in the 2nd round and I am targeting Smith over Reggie Wayne.

I also feel LT is going to have a MONSTER year, but a lot of the experts are very down on him, what are your thoughts? Thanks for the info! Keep up the good work!

Whats up guys -- Love the show, and look forward to Thursday each week just to listen.

I asked a question last week about my #2 overall pick in my PPR 12 Team Redraft, start 2 RB/3WR. Appreciated the advice, and decided due to my indecisiveness over who to take that I wanted to try and move the pick. Luckily found a buyer and made this trade:

My 1.02 & 8.11 for his 1.10 & 3.10

So now with 4 picks in the top 34, I've been trying out a few different strategies in mocks. If RBs go hard in the first round, I'll take my top available WR (Moss, Andre Johnson), and if for some reason Fitz, Moss, and Johnson go in the 1st, I should have Chris Johnson falling to me. The bottom of round 2 typically looks the same, with a great cluster of #1 WRs falling to me, with me usually taking some combo of Steve Smith, Roddy White, Anquan Boldin, and Wes Welker at the turn.

With those WRs typically making it down to the 2/3 turn, would it smart of me to go ahead and target Chris Johnson (or Steve Slaton?) at that 1.10 pick? The wildcard here is that 3.10 pick that I picked up. I've routinely been seeing at the very worst Ryan Grant or Pierre Thomas staring me in the face. So I'm not ruling out taking 3 WRs with my first 3 picks, and then making Grant or Thomas my #1 back, and going with strong middle guys in rounds 4-7 (Ray Rice, Derrick Ward hopefully, and some of the aging vet names). The idea of starting Randy Moss, Anquan Boldin, and Steve Smith as my 3 WR crew all year may be too tempting to pass up, as I've got those guys ranked 2, 3, and 4 in my rankings.

First off, nice to see that Draftguys Alum Nader Abdallah was signed by the Ravens today; I wish that class act the best of luck!

Brad Childress has shown not to be the most effective head coach in the league. Other than Adrian Peterson, how can we as owners feel good about the chances that having Berrian, Rice, Harvin, etc. on our rosters will be rewarded? Most of the talk coming out of Vikings camp has centered on the QB's, the Williams' and Harvin. What information do you all have regarding the skill players and their development so far this off-season? If Rice stays healthy, could he out-perform the one trick pony Bernard Berrian?

A twelve hour Audible eh, looks like a lot of us will have to clean up our I-Pods; time to delete those Glen Campbell remixes:)

Couple quick hits fo' yo' a@#$#:

A: In your opinion, who would be more valuable in a non-PPR scoring system:

1. Marion Barber at his current ADP(late 2nd)

2. Felix Jones at his current ADP(late 6th)

Does your opnion change for PPR formats?

B: When drafting in a PPR league, using a 3RR, what is your feeling on drafting a WR in the early third if you've already selected two wideouts in rounds 1 and 2? I'd expect that another top 12-15 WR will be available in a lot of leagues at that point and I'm trying to gauge what RBs that I expect will be available there, if any, are more valuable than those types of WRs. So far, my list of RBs for that scenario is basically empty(Obviously, someone could free fall that shouldn't. I'm just generalizing). Am I totally off the reservation here, or is it clearly a choice of taking the potential top 12-15 WR and not thinking twice about it?

Or, to put it another way, what RBs would have to fall to the early third for you to consider drafting them over a top 12 WR in a similar scenario?

Always appreciate the insight.

Great show fellas

I read a report that RB Jackie Battle is getting first team snaps with the Chiefs. Any chance he'll take over Charles for the #2 spot or even LJ for the #1 role?

Thanks

Helloooooooooo Cecil and Sigmund!

1) Sigmund you have been talking Darren Mcfadden up in PPR leagues. Give us non ppr analysis. 4th round reach?

2) Green Bay backup rb news?

***hugely important***

3) Rules proposal question(not many of these):

1 Keeper

Converting into an Auction League $200 Budget($1.00 increments)

12 teamer nonppr

Any suggestions for keeper inflation at seasons end. Looking to prevent owners from abusing extremely low salaries. Pretend Adrian Petereson was $8.00 last season. How do we prevent the owner from keeping ADP at a 25% increase at $10 for 2010 and so forth.

1 - Flat rate charges

2 - % increase

3 - combination of flat rate & %'s. This may be best.

4 - suggestions?

Graded flat rate inflation

Players at or less than $10 (Player A $4.00) + $15 = Player A's new salary will be $19 going into 2010

Players at or less than $11-20 (Player B $19.00) + $10 = .......B's.....$29.00......

................................. $21-30 (Player C $24.00) + $7 = ......C's......$31.00.......

..................................$31-40 (Player D $35.00) + $5 +......D's........$40.00......

..................................$41-50 plus 10% increase

..................................$50+ plus 7% increase

$5 increments instead of $10 may be necessary.

Owners would be able to enjoy the advantage of their saviness for a few seasons. Super deals would raise to normalcy sooner. Their average value picks would rise at a decent rate. High end players would rise as well.

I would greatly appreciate some advice on this important and difficult issue. thanks.

Does all this talk about Reggie Bush being banged up require me to draft Pierre Thomas in Rd.2 instead of Rd 3?

What should we expect from Josh Morgan this year? Is he a legit WR2 even if Crabtree is a go starting week 1?

Yo guys,

In any start 3 WR league, especially 12 teamers, under what circumstances would you not take WR-WR at the 11 or 12 hole? Lets take out AP, MT, MJD, Forte, Gore, Slaton and DWill from falling to you. Would you take LT over any of the big 4 WR's (AJ, Moss, Megatron or Fitz)? How about SJax or CJ3? Would you pass on one of them anyway to get 2 of the big 4? Most mocks I've done from the 11/12 have very slim pickings at WR and with starting 3, you're really playing against the numbers as once the top 15-18 WR's go, the drop is very big in my opinion. If it is a 6 pt TD league do Brees or Brady enter in the mix? I really think you have to get one (maybe 2?) of the top 4 at that turn or you'll never catch up. I also think you exert some influence on the draft by going WR/WR, possibly drawing some guys into taking WR a little earlier and leaving more options at RB. Thoughts?

Second part: If you do go WR/WR or WR/QB, which RB's do you then target in 3/4 or 5/6? I kind of like McFadden and I think you can bookend Addai and Brown or Parker and get Mendenhall later. I like Moreno too, but the longer he holds out, the more sour I get on him.

Thanks!!!!

Hey Guys,

One of my favorite insights you offered during last season's podcasts was when you observed that fantasy players' values were affected by the rationality (more particularly the irrationality) of their coaching staffs... such as the Jets refusing to run against the league-worst KC defense.

With that in mind, what players do you see as having an oppourtunity in 2009 for a vast increase in their fantasy value based on (1) if they were used more rationally by their coaches or more importantly (2) that they will be used more rationally by their coaches? Basically, which players fantasy production is being held down by stupidity? And do you see any of those situations reversing in 2009?

Thanks!

Thank you for the quality work that you guys do.

I'm in an 8 keeper league (14 teamer) that is 0.5 PPR, top-tier WR's are very difficult to acquire via trade and rarely get cut. Due to this trend, over the past few years it has gotten increasingly more difficult to land the next star at WR. For instance Calvin Johnson was taken #2 overall 2 years ago. Even with the chance that these high draft pick WR's will take 1-3 years to develop owners are content drafting and then waiting.

With that being said, is Michael Crabtree the WR that is most likely to be the #1 star of this WR class down the road? I understand that his situation with holding out, lack of a star QB, diva-esq attitude is making him less than desirable in re-draft leagues. But if an owner is willing to invest in the time to wait...is he the WR to target? If not than who?

Mucho respecto! :D

wow, you can tell it's draft season: it's 10:30 here in boulder and my question is already on the bottom of a pile.

gents!

1. where is our auction podcast?! it's august 6th already. chop chop, por favor!

2. 12 team PPR dynasty. my WRs are both steve smiths, colston, hester, mike walker, laurent robinson, bryant johnson. i am curious who you think would be worthy of a 5% cap investment in free agency: chris henry, JL higgins, toomer, jacoby jones, kevin curtis, pierre garcon.

3. in general, any thoughts on matt jones? (you can ignore this question if you already played it. k-k-k-k-yeeeea-ahhhhh!)

you guys are DYN-O-MIIIIIIIITE!!!!!

Hey Guys,

I know Cecil is at Broncos camp so I wanted his impressions/insight into Brandon Marshall's situation regarding A) the rash of injuries he's dealing with - how is it affecting his grasp of the offense, does he seem to know his routes when on the field and etc. and also B). How's his attitude when on the field - has his contractual squabble with the team taken some of his "desire" away in your opinion?

Thx,

Mark W.

Great show, guys!

In a TD-heavy dynasty league draft, I would think that Jeremy Maclin, Percy Harvin, and Hakeem Nicks will all be available in the early-to-mid part of the first round, but I am struggling to settle on how I would rank them. I am being influenced by the daily news that I hear about each of the players. At this point, I just don't know who of the three to draft. Each has their own positive and negative issues.

Although it is hard to predict how each will acclimate to and perform in the NFL and a pro-style offense, how do you think the three will compare with a few years of experience? Do you have a sense whether any or all of them will really excel at the pro level? Do you think that any of them may be a superior pro compared to the others? Please consider this with regard to TD's.

Also, what are your thoughts about Josh Freeman and his potential in a TD-heavy dynasty league? I just get the feeling that he will not be that good at the pro level. Just looking at his last 6 college games, he completed 53% of his passes for 8 TD's and 6 Int's and he led his team to a 1-5 record. His team still averaged 26.5 points per game during those last 6 games, so he didn't seem very productive. Unfortunately, I am not sure how good were his receivers and offensive line, which certainly would have impacted his production.

Hey guys, got a Keeper Question for you.

I get to keep 2 players but they have to be at different positions - can't keep 2 RB's.

Scoring is 6pts for all TD's, 1/2ppr, 5pt bonuses at 100yds rush/rec & 300yds pass. Rest is standard

Here are my options:

Peyton Manning

Adrian Peterson

DeAngelo Williams

Steven Jackson

Dwayne Bowe

Marques Colston

I pick 3rd in the draft. Thinking about AD & Bowe as my keepers, targeting one of the other backs I'm dropping or Calvin Johnson (who should be there at 3). What do you think?

Keep up the good work. Thanks!

Todd

General IDP Draft question (since I think you said you like general questions in the last podcast!)

I'm in a 24 round IDP draft where we start 2 LB, 2 DL and 2 DB. I'm wondering when its is reasonable to start looking at drafting IDP guys, and in what order? I'm thinking about diving in at about the 10th round, and generally thinking of going DL1, LB1, DL2, LB2, then waiting for DB1 and DB2 due to the incredible depth at the position.

Just FYI, we are a 12 team, start 3WR league, modified PPR (.5 for WR/TE and .25 for RB), and can flex a QB.

Any input would be great. Thanks guys, its my 3rd year as a regular podcast listener and it's provided great entertainment and information the whole time.

Great show guys...

1. Does the news about Harry Douglas being out for the season and Roddy White not being in camp cause concern for Matt Ryan? Does he get upgraded/downgraded at all? Does it upgrade/downgrade Turner? What about Gonzalez?

2. Brandon Marshall seemed to WOW! the crowd the one day he was in camp, but does his slow camp start, ailing injuries, upcoming court date, etc. all make you think he is a DND player? Do you think he still exceeds 1,000 yards and say, 7 or 8 TDs in 2009? He is definitely one of the top 40 FF players who carry HUGE amounts of risk, but if you can snag him a little later than ADP is it a risk worth taking?

3. I'm curious about today's starting RB's who very likely WON'T be the starter on their team going into 2010 due to contracts, age, etc. Could you name them all (based on your opinions) and who you think will be the starter on those same teams going into next season? Granted, of course, we don't know what upperclassmen will be rookies on which teams next season so just leave that out of the equation for now.

Thanks again and keep it coming... Us FF Junkies love it...

Hey guys,

I just wanted to get your thoughts on a couple of IDP prospects for this season:

CB Tracy Porter (Saints)

DT Kyle Williams (Bills)

DT Jason Jones (Titans)

Are there any players on the IDP side of things that are flying hugely under the radar at the moment? Any that would be available in most leagues' waiver wires?

The Audible rocks, guys. Keep up the great work.

Hey Guys,

Looking for opinions on a 12 man PPR league all td's 6 points across the board all normal scoring except you get 1 point per 25 yards on Kick/Punt return yardage , Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2WR, 1 Flex, 1 TE, K, DEf.

My workl eague has added return yardage this year and I am having a hard time figuring out how much more value do guys like Leon Washington, D. Sporles, Norwood,Cribbs, ETC. have. Does this type of scoring move Sporles and Leon Washington into the 6 or 7 round or higher ?

Thanks guys,

Hi guys,

Great show as always. I just listened to the IDP podcast from the legendary Jene, John and Sig and as always there is great information in it.

I am in a 16 team dynasty league and our auction is coming up soon and I am trying to put together a list of good IDP options that may be available later in the auction (other than the suggested players in the podcasts and Jene, John and Sig's IDP articles) that I could pick up on the cheap.

Scoring: 1pt tkl (.5 ast), 1pt FF 2pt FR, 4pt Int, 2pt Sack, 6 pt TD

Any dl,lb,db suggestions that may be available late that I can keep an eye on.

Thanks, you guys rock!

I would like to hear some thoughts on guys that were prospects in the last few years, but aren't current rookies. How have they progressed?

Mostly guys from Draftguys TV, but some others as well:

Jason Shirley, Demetrius Bell, Dexter Jackson, Antwaun Molden, Josh Johnson, Thaddeus Coleman, Frank Okam, Jaymar Johnson, Kerry Brown, Derek Landri, Charles Spencer, Dusty Dvoracek, Winston Justice, Erasmus James, Odell Thurman... Who have you given up on and who do you still have high hopes for?

Any info or updated scouting notes you have on them is appreciated. Any updates on Taurean Charles and where he is now?

It seems like this year we are seeing more RBBC situations around the NFL. I've generally always tried to target 2 RBs in the first 3 rounds of my fantasy drafts. Do you think it's perhaps time to rethink this strategy?

I'm considering grabbing a feature back and then loading up on QB and WR talent before looking for a committee back as my RB2. Thoughts?

Who do you think will be the biggest beneficiary of Harry Douglas' injury? Does Michael Jenkins get those targets as a possession receiver, or will Tony Gonzalez become an even bigger part of the passing game? We know Roddy White won't be the answer, he's a playmaker who needs to be fed the ball, not a safety valve.

How about some KR/PR love... Footballguys is a little light on converage regarding returners. You guys playing in any leagues that reward the returners? Who are you keeping your eye for a sleeper returner pick?

I can keep 5 players in my keeper league. It's a .5 PPR league with QB, 2 RB, RB/WR, 2 WR, WR/TE, TE and OP as the starting postions. You can start a QB at the OP spot so QBs have a little more value in this league.

I have 5 keeper quality players: Kurt Warner, Steve Slaton, Michael Turner, Ronnie Brown, Randy Moss, Roddy White and Brandon Marshall

Who do you think I should keep? And with the 2 left over players what could I get from them in return? Could I get a draft pick back in return?

Scoring:

Passing

TD Pass 4 Every 25 passing yards 1

50+ yard TD pass bonus 3 400+ yard passing game 5

2pt Passing Conversion 2 Interceptions Thrown -2

Thanks for the help

Hey fellas.

First time question writer, long time listener. love the show.

i'm in a 10 team league and we each can keep 1 player from our squad or we can throw them all back and take any available player. the only players i have worth considering are Calvin Johnson and Clinton Portis. If we keep a player, we lose a first round pick regardless of where the player was selected last year.

We start 1 QB / 2 RB / 3 WR / 1 TE...no flex :wall:

scoring system is RB/WR 1/20 and QBs 1/50. 6pts all TDs.

It's weighted, imo at least, toward TDs.

I pick 7th in the first (keeper) round, then 7th again in the second (or, first) round, and then it is a serpintine draft. That being the case, here is a list of the available players, and those being kept:

Available players: MJD, Forte, Turner, Brees, Rodgers, Moss, Fitzgerald, etc.

Kept players: AP, Steven Jackson, Marion Barber, DeAngelo Williams, Chris Johnson, Joseph Addai, Tom Brady, Westbrook, Manning.

So, where should I go with my selection? I'm the only one not keeping a player, as crazy as that sounds. And don't worry, it's a money league so I'm not wasting your time.

I'm getting a lot of Forte suggestions from my friends, but really like MJD this year...so far.

So what say you?

Thanks, and keep up the great work.

Holla amigos!

Love the show. Here's my first ever question.

I'm in a 16 team IDP dynasty league. Start 4 DBs, 4 DL/LBs and 2 Flex. Big play league.

Tackles - 3

Tackle asst -1

Sack- 10

Int- 15

FF- 15

Fumble recovery- 10

D TD- 20

Safety-20

Pass Defended- 2

Block kick-20

I own Cedric Griffin, Dan Bullocks,Brandon Carr,Chinedum Ndukwe, Quntin Mikell, Terrence McGee,William Moore, Patrick Chung at DB. And Omar Gaither, James Farrior, Antonio Pierce, Kawika Mithchell, Lawrence Timmons, Ben Leber, Rey Rey Maualuga.

I know i could just play matchups all season long, but i have to cut some guys. Who would you keep considering the big play scoring and future potential.

Thanks

Todd, thanks for the question!I certainly agree with you that ADP and Bowe should be your keepers here. ADP will get his, and Bowe could get a ton of garbage time points because KC is going to be playing from behind a lot this year. The addition of Amani Toomer will help attract some attention away from Bowe, not a lot but some. He could lead the NFL in targets this year if he can stay healthy.

I'd go Calvin Johnson with the #3 pick, so you can punish other owners each week with 2 of the best receivers in the game. You've got ADP, so you can wait to get your 2nd RB.

Thanks for listening!

since you only start 2 DL, 2 LB, 2 DB I would probably target DL1 and DL2 with your first two IDP picks because it has by far the shallowest player pool of the three positions. I really like Jared Allen and Mario Williams this year, and I think the 11th or 12th sounds like good place to pull the trigger than the 10th. With 3 WR and a flex, youll prolly want to devote at least 16 spots to offense, and have two swing spots to use to bridge bye weeks/injuries to your IDPs. With the QB flex option, that makes getting a quality QB2 more important - 10th round is a great place to do that. If you can't get Allen/Williams because someone pulls the trigger earlier than you, you can still land Peppers/Tuck or Suggs/Osi. no problem. I would both LB next, the position is pretty strong at least 15-20 deep. worst case scenario youll get timmons/durant or laurinaitis/farrior, even if you're patient. save DB for last, its the deepest position.sounds like the WW will be very active in this league. sounds like a fun set up, but i would go 1 DT 2 DE 3 LB 2 CB 2 S with 30 roster spots to get into more subtle IDP strategy.

Porter an underrated IDP property because his rookie breakout was cut short by a broken wrist. He's a good pick as a starting CB that you can get outside of the top 10-15 in most cases.Williams is more of a grinder, not a great talent, but a hustler. Maybe he could do something with a healthy Schobel and the addition of Maybin to distract offensive lines, but im not targeting him.Jones seems like he should be a pass rushing force, and he is a top tier DT1 and nice commodity in sack heavy DT required leagues.there will be a few safeties that comes from the WW to top 10-15 this year. three good candidates are James Butler (Spags brought him over from NY), Michael Johnson (taking Butler's place in NY), Abram Elam (Mangini brought him over from NY)

Hi guys,Great show as always. I just listened to the IDP podcast from the legendary Jene, John and Sig and as always there is great information in it.I am in a 16 team dynasty league and our auction is coming up soon and I am trying to put together a list of good IDP options that may be available later in the auction (other than the suggested players in the podcasts and Jene, John and Sig's IDP articles) that I could pick up on the cheap.Scoring: 1pt tkl (.5 ast), 1pt FF 2pt FR, 4pt Int, 2pt Sack, 6 pt TDAny dl,lb,db suggestions that may be available late that I can keep an eye on.Thanks, you guys rock!
16 team will really stretch it. Seems like big plays are emphasized, particularly INTs. I like Deon Grant and LaRon Landry as late safeties. Kawika Mitchell and Takeo Spikes as late LBs. For DL, I would aim for Derrick Harvey (who isnt getting the same respect as Avril in drafts) and Trevor Scott (who should start now that Burgess is gone).

Great show guys...1. Does the news about Harry Douglas being out for the season and Roddy White not being in camp cause concern for Matt Ryan? Does he get upgraded/downgraded at all? Does it upgrade/downgrade Turner? What about Gonzalez?2. He is definitely one of the top 40 FF players who carry HUGE amounts of risk, but if you can snag him a little later than ADP is it a risk worth taking?3. Us FF Junkies love it...
gpthatsme, thanks for the question!Matt Ryan is getting some crazy love in fantasy circles and it's been a little baffling to me. Even with a full complement of weapons I just don't see Ryan as ever being an elite fantasy quarterback. It's his second year, and I LOVED what I saw from Ryan his rookie season. To be clear, I am a fan of Ryan - I just don't expect an explosion in his production during his sophomore year. At Boston College he was known to force the ball quite a bit which led to interceptions. NOW, with White's holdout getting uglier. D. Orlando Ledbetter, from the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported yesterday that the Douglas injury won't force the Falcons hand. Tony Gonzalez is going to be great for Ryan. His favorite target in college was his TE Ryan Purvis. He'll be the hot read (it was White last year), and even when White returns to the team it will be Tony G that stays the hot read in 2009.Turner could see more carries, even though the team wants to reduce his carries to somewhere around 300 on the season. His carries may be more productive this year because he could stay fresh and the addition of Tony G means defense just can't load the box to stop the run and worry about White deep. On to Brandon Marshall...We'll see how that hamstring/hip does later in the preseason. He's not going to play the first week, and as we get closer to the regular season we'll see how he looks. Marshall will no longer be the centerpiece in the offense because Eddie Royal is going to be the most targeted receiver on this team. Orton loves to stay safe and checkdown so we can't expect a lot of deep catches for Marshall this year. His current ADP is WR14, which seems about right if he's healthy. With all this negative news around Marshall he may fall in your draft, but the upside is nice (as you said 1,000 yards 6-8TDs). Don't rush out and get him, but if you can wait and get him as a value I say pull the trigger and get him because of the upside, because of the potential for big performances, PLUS the Broncos D is a work in progress and the Broncos may be passing more than they want to in 2009.As for your final question here's a couple:San Diego, if Tomlinson is gone watch out for Gartrell Johnson who has been getting very good press in training camp. When we talked about him back in January at the Shrine Game there were some who thought he would be a fullback in the NFL - and probably go undrafted. It was a blood bath for RBs this year (Peerman, Jennings - 7th rounders, really?) yet A.J. Smith chose to select GarJo in the 4th round. He's also a better receiver than people expect.Cleveland, if Lewis is gone watch out for James Davis. We spent quite a bit of time talking about him on the show and he's looking more like he did in 2007 than he did in 2008. Kansas City, if Johnson is gone (and I believe he will be) the Chiefs don't have a back on the current roster that could carry the load for the full season. Jamaal Charles is versatile, speedy, and a decent receiver but I feel he would break down if given 15-20 carries a game for a full season.Seattle, Julius Jones may be the worst starting RB in the league, but it's going to be RBBC with Duckett. I like Forsett for the future. He's smaller, but runs with surprising toughness between the tackles. Like Charles he could wear down with an increased workload. But he's more instinctive than Charles, and I like him as the lead back in a committee. The 'Hawks could replace Jones with Forsett and be GTG.Washington, the Redskins would be smart to draft a top RB next year. thanks for listening!

I would like to hear some thoughts on guys that were prospects in the last few years, but aren't current rookies. How have they progressed?Mostly guys from Draftguys TV, but some others as well: Jason Shirley, Demetrius Bell, Dexter Jackson, Antwaun Molden, Josh Johnson, Thaddeus Coleman, Frank Okam, Jaymar Johnson, Kerry Brown, Derek Landri, Charles Spencer, Dusty Dvoracek, Winston Justice, Erasmus James, Odell Thurman... Who have you given up on and who do you still have high hopes for?Any info or updated scouting notes you have on them is appreciated. Any updates on Taurean Charles and where he is now?
Shirley is a backup and doing okBell is a backup, could be on the spot if a starting tackle goes down or struggles.Jackson had a rough rookie year, but is looking a lot better now.Molden is banged up, but with Reeves injury and Robinson holdout, hell get reps with the ones when he returns in 2 weeksJohnson will likely get cut and be someone else's 3rd QB or PS QB - doubt TB carries 4 now that Gruden is gone.Coleman went to CanadaOkam is doing ok, and just got some reps with the ones.Johnson got huge praise from Carter (he can be a starter) and his development likely caused the release of Aundrae Allison.Brown i havent heard much about, lost track of him, maybe IRed last year, but not on roster on redskins.comOf the others you like I think its premature to give up on Justice and Dvoracek. Justice could be starting at RT if Andrews back doesnt get better. Spencer had a gnarly injury, and Thurman has been through too much.i have no update on charles.

Holla amigos!Love the show. Here's my first ever question.I'm in a 16 team IDP dynasty league. Start 4 DBs, 4 DL/LBs and 2 Flex. Big play league.Tackles - 3Tackle asst -1Sack- 10Int- 15FF- 15Fumble recovery- 10D TD- 20Safety-20Pass Defended- 2Block kick-20I own Cedric Griffin, Dan Bullocks,Brandon Carr,Chinedum Ndukwe, Quntin Mikell, Terrence McGee,William Moore, Patrick Chung at DB. And Omar Gaither, James Farrior, Antonio Pierce, Kawika Mithchell, Lawrence Timmons, Ben Leber, Rey Rey Maualuga.I know i could just play matchups all season long, but i have to cut some guys. Who would you keep considering the big play scoring and future potential.Thanks-BREHH
griffin, ndukwe, mikell, timmons, maualuga, farrior would be at the top of the list. moore and chung are great dev prospects for a 16 teamer with that system. Bullocks is fighting for a job, and Carr is more of tackler/physical CB than ballhawk big play guy. McGee is solid, but unexciting upside. Gaither I think will still be a backup behind Mays, and only in on the nickel. I actually like Mitchell as an LB5 in big play leagues, they are going to blitz him more. Leber isn't bad in a big play league, rosterable, but still a sporadic producer. Pierce should be interesting, Garafolo said he wasnt as bad as we think last year, but he's an LB4 at best in a 16 teamer.PS nice anchower shoutout

Hey Guys,Looking for opinions on a 12 man PPR league all td's 6 points across the board all normal scoring except you get 1 point per 25 yards on Kick/Punt return yardage , Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2WR, 1 Flex, 1 TE, K, DEf.My workl eague has added return yardage this year and I am having a hard time figuring out how much more value do guys like Leon Washington, D. Sporles, Norwood,Cribbs, ETC. have. Does this type of scoring move Sporles and Leon Washington into the 6 or 7 round or higher ?Thanks guys,
lowman2, thanks for your question! We love Darren Sproles on the show dating back to his days at Kansas State. This change to your work league pushes him up into that 7th round. An injury to LT doesn't have to happen to make Sproles a productive player in your league/scoring format. Leon Washington could get pushed up into that 6th round because he'll get more opportunity than Sproles. Washington is the best receiver out of the backfield, the team will use him in the Wildcat, and he may get more carries (but not near the goalline of course). The team sees Shonn Greene as a 4th quarter weapon, and the rookie will take touches/plays from Thomas Jones - and not Leon Washington. Norwood's ADP right now in standard leagues (RB49) is way too low. Use that to wait for him, although he could score around what Sproles does for the Chargers. He's got the speed to score anytime he touches the ball. Cribbs I don't anticipate having a Hester-like breakout as a receiver. He's my least favorite out of the players you listed, and the struggling QBs in Cleveland doesn't help. Thanks for listening!

It seems like this year we are seeing more RBBC situations around the NFL. I've generally always tried to target 2 RBs in the first 3 rounds of my fantasy drafts. Do you think it's perhaps time to rethink this strategy?I'm considering grabbing a feature back and then loading up on QB and WR talent before looking for a committee back as my RB2. Thoughts?
Thanks for the question Tenacious! This is the way savvy fantasy owners will win their leagues this year. If you have a chance to get one of the top feature backs ADP, MJD - then you grab them at the top of your draft. However, if you're sitting at the end of the first go back to back WRs, and if your scoring is slanted for QBs then consider Brady/Brees with that second-round pick. This is the year to wait for RBs. You can pick up guys like Ray Rice, Pierre Thomas later in your draft. Even guys like Earnest Graham, Willie Parker can be had later on. Grab those elite WRs and corner the market of that upper tier of talent. Fantasy owners need to watch this 2 and 3 headed RBBC trend and adjust their draft strategies accordingly. If you're near the bottom of the first round I'd go WR/WR then RB in the 3rd. Thanks for listening!

As we heard from D. Orlando Ledbetter when we had him on the show, the new HOT read for reacting to the blitz is Tony Gonzalez. Last year it was Roddy White. If White doesn't miss anytime in the regular season - and can stay healthy - he should have a good year, but will see a drop in production because of Tony G.I don't think Jenkins sees that much of an increase or decline in his production because his role is already the 3rd or 4th target on most plays. He'll probably finish the year as a top 50 WR, but won't break the top 40.Tony G will continue to produce and should become Matt Ryan's most trusted target. Jerious Norwood should catch 30-40 passes this year.

Cecil and Sigmund putting in the OT; nice job guys!!!!
we love you guys, and are very appreciative of everyone that listens to our show!Sooo many questions that we couldn't fit it all in, so we'll answer them here.I'm headed to Dove Valley for practice, but will be back to finish answering these great questions this afternoon!

I'll toss one in. 12 team, 4 man keeper league, start 2 RB and 3 WR. 1/10 scoring rushing/receiving, 1/20 scoring passing, 6pts all TDs. This year the league added 0.5 PPR (I have never played in a PPR league). I was planning on keeping LT, MJD, Fitz and Calvin Johnson. I have been concerned about LT and how he will do this year. Also, since it is a keeper, I am trying to plan ahead for his eventually demise. After listening to the last few weeks and hearing Bloom talk about he likes to getting top WRs in PPR leagues, I was wondering if it made sense to try to deal LT (and maybe picks) to get a great 3rd WR. The league likes QBs and hoards RBs as well. I was hoping to stay ahead of the herd in the switch to PPR and grab a WR before everyone figures out the value change. I do think I can pick up a solid #2 RB in the mid rounds (like Ray Rice).

So, *if* I could pry away a Steve Smith or Andre Johnson with LT/picks (say 5th or 6th, keepers count towards picks 1-4), would it be better to have MJD, Fitz, Calvin, and 3rd WRs vs. the original lineup? Or how low on the WR list would it make sense to go (say Colston?) and still be better off keeping 3 WR?
