"The Big Old Stone" - Ronnie Brown (1 Viewer)

Look, I'm not looking to cause any trouble here, but you guys do realize that Eric Dickerson and Marshall Faulk also went #2 overall in their draft years, right?
So did Ryan Leaf.I 'm just sayin...

Let me clairify. I am not saying he will be a bust, I have high hopes for him next year.I am just saying that draft postition does not directly corolate to NFL success.

Pop quiz:

Where was Terell Davis selected?

Guy, trust me when I tell you I understand this, but please don't kill the mood around here. If you want to crash the party you are welcome but leave the sour stuff outside.

TIA

Go Ronnie Brown! He will rush for 3000+ yards and score 49 TD's!He is going to cure cancer and end world hunger in his bye week!

edit: is that better?

Welcome aboard Good Buddy!! :welcome:

Being a fin fan and a Brown owner in my dynasty league i sure hope he can bring something to the offense. Houck needs to work his magic with that oline, and Gus needs to do something/anything. At least Wannstedt isnt there to make sure it would fail...Wanny is proving not only wasnt he an NFL head coach, hes not even good enough to be a college head coach.

:football: :football: :boxing: :football: :football: Here he comes!!!My best friend is a HUGE Auburn fan, and thanks to him I watched every Auburn game I could last year. If you want to know what he can do, I suggest you take a look at last year's games vs. LSU and Georgia.1. 1st round draft pick Marcus Spears of LSU was THROWN TO THE GROUND (with one arm) trying to tackle Ronnie. :o 2. 1st round draft pick Thomas Davis of Georgia was ABUSED... MULTIPLE TIMES by Ronnie both as a runner AND a blocker. Ronnie's blocking may be just as good as his running (and catching). Davis was engaged, and driven more than 10 yards backwards by Ronnie on a Cadillac run. This just after he was driven 10 yards backwards and discarded trying to tackle Ronnie. BTW, Davis had the help of a couple teammates at the time of the humiliation. Think "Jamal Lewis" with better hands, better blocking, better personality/team attitude.Or, a larger (but not quite as quick) Bo Jackson, with much better hands. Do I think he'll be a fantasy monster this year? No.Is he the best dynasty prospect this year? Probably not. This is not due to HIS talent level, but the level of those around him. Will he ever be able to produce stats and FF points equal of his talent level? God help the rest of the league if he does. :banned: Start drinking it now.

Afterthought...Nick Saban was on the sideline of the LSU/Auburn game, and I'm sure he saw the play and the video of the Ronnie/Spears :bag: play... over and over and over...

The truth of the matter is that like it or not, Ronnie "The Big 'Ol Stone" Brown is the future of the Miami Dolphins backfield and will be offered every opportunity to grab that role and "run" with it.What about Ricky Williams? No chance. I'm as big a Ricky fan as the next Fin Fan (hell, I named my dog after him! Poor dog! LOL) but Ricky's worn out his welcome in Miami and maybe even in the NFL. And to those who say he's commited to coming back and playing well, I disagree. He's here because he has to be. Read the last few quotes from him lately and that should be abundantly clear. This bandwagon may take a year to get up to speed, but I'm lookin' to get on!Ronnie Brown is our new "Rollin' Stone"!

:goodposting: I think concerns over Brown are absolutely valid if you're in redraft. Saban needs to rebuild the Dolphins much like Denny Green is having the rebuild the Cards - piece by piece. Does anyone doubt he can do it? IMHO, keeper and dynasty league owners should have jumped all over Brown. Because, he'll be a decent RB3/RB4 this year, but a MONSTER RB1 in years to come. The perfect blend of power, speed, and elusiveness - which is why he was picked over Cadillac, Benson, or Arrington.

Ronnie Brown is our new "Rollin' Stone"!
Totally agree here. I don't know what everyone is afraid of with RB (ronnie brown). Heck there is room enough in the NFL for TWO Rookie Stud RB's. The bottom line is that Ricky is the past for the fins and Ronnie is the future. Even if Ronnie does poorly in this opening part of a difficult schedule, it won't matter much. Brown and Saban will be together for a long time. He is not trying to build a championship team in one seaon either so it will take a couple of years. RB will be ok this week and have some ups and downs. As the season starts drawing to a close, look for Ronnie to really start hitting his stride which will be the same time many of us are hitting ff playoff weekends. I actually like what Miami has done already in one offseason to get better since Wanny left and I really like RB's chances next season. All the people down on this guy are shortsighted and don't see that he is going to be one of the few NFL RB's that will get 20-25 carries every game, catch passes out of the backfield and not have to leave the game because he doesn't know how to block. Get on now while tickets are still cheap because at some point this season, the train will have left the station at full capacity! :)

I alredy have a window seat.

I am already on the Matt Jones bandwagon, although I didn't get him in my draft. I did manage to steal Brown at 6.09 in a 14 teamer. I am looking forward to watching him perform. He will show why Miami selected him at #2.

One more quick point. Brandon Jacobs, who is getting rave reviews in N.Y. as being everything they had hoped Dayne would be, transferred FROM Auburn because he couldn't get on the field. Now he is just a Tiki sprained ankle from putting up 1000 yards and 10 TDs in the NFL.

I'm onboard. Just hoping I can get a few good games out of him and then use him as trade bait. Here's my stable of "stallions": Rudi, Kevin Jones, Chris Brown, Ronnie Brown, and Mewelde. GO RONNIE!

Unless a suitable supporting cast is found/assembled, may never be a FF top 5.That said, he is one, maybe two years removed from being the best RB in the NFL.I've said many times... "J.Lewis with better hands and attitude." "a larger (but not as quick) Bo Jackson with better hands and blocking ability."

CONGRATS TO THE PEOPLE ALREADY ON BOARD.To the rest of you, sorry, there just may not be enough room.

In the world of FF, I can see Brown being better than Caddy. Better receiver with a bigger & stronger body (which could make him more durable). Give Ronnie Brown & Miami some time. Both of them are going to be REALLY good, IMO.

Caddy is a more polished runner, but I believe Brown will likely catch up. I can't decide who I like better yet, but I'm on both bandwagons. :)

FYI, this is acceptable. Many of us were so enamored with both guys in dynasty leagues this year that we sold off our teams to get them and rebuild.

:bye:

By picking up both Brown and Matt Jones in my keeper league, I believe I'm on both busses. Is that allowed? :crossesfingers:

I've missed out on this thread, but I took Ronnie w/ the first pick in the rookie draft, so I guess count me in on the bandwagon. :D (actually, I have him in both of the leagues that matter to me :excited: )

Just for posterity I watched the Ronnie Brown video before leaving for work today. I had a little extra skip in my step as I walked to the subway.

Buffalo is giving up 172 yards per game on the ground AND Ricky is coming back next week.If there was ever a time for Ronnie Brown to bust out THIS is the game.145 yards and 2 TD's.GAS IT UP Otis. The bus to Buffalo is leaving NOW.
