The Chargers will DESTROY the Bears opening day (1 Viewer)

I was going to post this today before logging on, but since the other thread was supposed to be reg season predictions, I'll put this here.

The Chargers will punish and embarass the Bears in front of a national audience (4pm game) on openening weekend.

Double digit win, Merriman sacks Rexy at least twice, while the team gets at least 7 sacks and 4 turnovers. This starts the frauds from the midway to an 8-8 season if they are lucky

Oh and the Eagles also beat them at the Linc later in the year

The chargers have an excellent front 7 on their defense. If they can get pressure on Grossman than sure, they probably will get a double digit win. However, the Chargers secondary is suspect and if the Bears O-line can do a half decent job of giving Grossman time, then they (the Bears) could certainly come out of there with a win.

The Bears defense has a good chance of shutting down the Chargers offense as well. And they have a better secondary.

Bears D vs Chargers O - close, but Chargers O wins

Chargers D vz Bears O - no contest, Chargers D rocks them. Although secondary is suspect, front 7 can put pressure. And we know pressure + Grossman = :excited:

Chargers win 17 - 7

Destroy is a big word.....I do think that the Chargers will win this game, but I expect it to be a good game, something like 24-17 SD. I think that the Bears defense will be geared up to stop the run amd if they can put some pressure on Rivers it could be a real tight game. Special teams play may be the big difference in the game.

SD wins, but they will not "destroy" the Bears.

whoopdie doo
 Another year of this on the way. I just hope the Bears do enough to keep them coming.
me too. It's funny to see Charger fans still pissed about the fact that their team simply can't win when it counts: the playoffs. Enjoy your regular season Bolts. We'll remember you when hosting the Lombardi.
:fishing: Let's try to keep conversation focused on anytime in the relatively near future (5 or so years).

:moneybag: They'll be dealing with the A.J. Feeley era by thenBack on topic, it wouldn't surprise me to see the Chargers win - I think they are the most talented team in the NFL.

LOL, good luck with that. It could go either way, but I think it will be a close game. Forget about the Chargers. If I were you pal, I would worry about how your Iggles will do on 10/21.

Well I guess when you have realized through years of continued failure that your team has no hope of ever going anywhere in the playoffs, you have to focus on the regular season. Here's to hoping you get that small pittance

:goodposting: Eagles can't beat the Bears with Feely?I think they could do it with Jeff George.
:banned: Delusional much?
I heard the same thing last year when the "experts" were picking the Skins to win the division and the Eagles to finish last.I can tell you're a football expert.

Worry about what the most overrated team in the NFL will do at the Linc this year champ. Ohhhh maybe win a SB some time in the next 50 years...

The question I want to know is will LT be able to run on Chicago?

Didn't they play within the last two years and LT got stopped?

He last played them in '03 and went for 16-61-1 but to me that means almost nothing since it was 3 years ago and a lot has changed since then. Chicago was good against the run last year (#7 in yards and tied with 3 for 11th on a ypc basis) but the Chargers were obviously good running the ball as well. Should be a good matchup and while I wouldn't expect LT to run wild, he'll get his yards/td(s).

They played in 03.16/61/14 catches for 21 yardsThe only time LT was really "stopped" was against the Eagles. :irony:
I was at that game, held LT to under 20yds rushing I think. Funny b/c the eagles historically struggle against the run and then hold LT down. Chargers still should have won, but lost on a blocked FG returned for a TD. The Linc was rocking.

For the record...the Steelers held LT to 36 yds on 13 rushes earlier in the year...on the road.

I will take the Bears +10 and wager anything you want.Chances are I won't hear back from you though. Just a prediction.

Look, this thread is pointless. Everyone knows the Chargers will be lucky to get 7 wins this year, especially after the Bears break LT's legs in that first game en route to a 47-3 win.

I bet Charger fans won't find it funny when LT leaves the field on a stretcher. Look, we separated our own running back's shoulder in a practice: what do you think we're gonna do to yours?

chances are they like LT alot better than they Benson so they'll probably take it easier on him. Plus Benson is about as elusive as a garbage can.

You won't be saying that when LT is IN a garbage can after the bears defense comes to his place and kills him the day before the game.

Bears Defense - tank - Briggs = Chief Defense......

That wasn't a serious post was it? :bag:

I'm sorry. I thought they played a lot earlier than that.

I was thinking of the Eagles. I remember watching that game in shock. He was in the negative rushing total in the third quarter. Seemed like every run the Eagles tripped him up in the backfield.

genius spelling  if you start a post this ######ed you shouldn't expect intelligent responses

It should be a great game.

It was an absolute joke last year when the Chargers were favored by only one point over the Raiders on opening day. One of the worst spreads I've ever seen, and I did say it ahead of time (although I am an idiot for not putting money on it).

I don't know who should be favored in the SD-CHI game. I'm just looking forward to watching it.

If Tommy Harris plays the Bears win. If not, Chargers win....... simple as that.
Jamal Williams > Tommy Harris as far as interior lineman go
Really??? I am pretty sure Tommie Harris was getting Defensive Player of the Year considerations the first half of the year last year.Williams.....never heard him mentioned?
Nose tackles in a 3-4 don't get the glory, but Williams is big key to the d. You always here the announcers bring up WilliamsThe Pro football Weekly preview does their rankings of best players at each position. They have Jamal Williams #2 at DT (Kevin Williams #1) Harris is #4...so someone agrees with me :coffee:

Shawne Merriman gets most of the press, but Jamal Williams might be the best player on the Chargers' defense. I'd probably favor Merriman by a nose, but it's close.
