One of these things is not like the others,

One of these things just doesn't belong,

Can you tell which thing is not like the others

By the time I finish my song?

Diaz was terribly miscast in Gangs of New York, as well. Although I admit she did the best she could.

Michael Fassbender is becoming one of those actors that elevates so-so movies and fits right in when he's in good movies.

This looks like a can't-miss. Too much elite talent involved.

Saw the movie last night. Very, very good. Cormac McCarthy is a poet. Now, while I don't think Cameron Diaz is on par with the writing in this movie, there's still plenty to like here. Much like No Country For Old Men, you aren't going to see a typical thriller here. Great movie if you like script-driven films.

Interesting. I saw a lot of "meh" reviews and stayed away from this one. Have you read any of those reviews?

I'm going to warn everyone that the movie has problems both in plot and in the ending. I just appreciate a movie that begins with a good script.

Problems in that they aren't conventional? Or that they don't exist/suck?

This movie has a lot of parallels with No Country For Old Men. And like that movie, The Counselor will have two main camps: the side that loves it and reveres the intelligence behind the script and the side that hates the movie and thinks it's pretentious.

and then they went and put Cameron Diaz in it...
Yep. I was really excited about this movie. Incredible cast minus Diaz. Award-winning director & writer. Great settings.

Just got back. While not a total waste of time, it was meh.

BTW, so let me get this straight Mr. McCarthy. Are you (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) trying to say this is a cautionary tale? Jesus, just beat us over the head with it, why don't ya.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Wanted to shut if off halfway through, wish I did. Can't miss, every time I hear things like that, they miss.
I wouldn't go that far but it was not great or anything. But not bad either. You can def tell that McCarthy penned the script.

Kind of feel similar about Out of the Furnace. A great cast and a so so screenplay.

I'd be more stoked if this was old school Outer Dark McCarthy and someone other than Ridley Scott were directing, but the cast looks incredible and current day McCarthy is still a force.

Will wait for Netflix.

Speaking of which, I wish some edgy director would adapt Outer Dark. That would make one sick horror movie.
