The Dark Knight Rises Villains Announced (1 Viewer)

Bane and Catwoman both look awful. What is with that stupid think on Banes head? He wears a mask not some rebreather thing. And I can't tell if Catwoman is wearing goggles or if that's her "mask", if it's her mask again horrible. I trust Nolan, but these two costumes give me pause.
Lets reserve judgement after we've seen the final cut. The first 2 were awesome, so the benefit of the doubt can be given for now.
Well unless they redo their costumes in post production I doubt they will change. The other movies didn't have such outrageous costumes.
Two words: Batsuit. Nipples.
I think he meant the Nolan Batmans not the 90's mess. They ALL had ridiculous outfits.
This. Other than the 2 movies by Nolan they have all been a hot mess.
The original with Nicholson and Keaton was balls-out, and still holds its own.
Watched it a week or 2 ago, it was much much worse than I remembered it. Batman Returns is the best of the pre-Nolan movies, and it isnt all that good either. Its saved by DeVito and Walken.
Batman Returns was awful. At least Jack's joker was entertaining.
Theyre both awful. Big Nicholson fan, but ill take DeVito/Walken over Nicholson in this case.
The original suit with the giant "HERE I AM" yellow bat symbol just screamed cheesy. Time has not been kind to those films. I remember seeing returns in the theater and seeing catwoman's silhouette at the end and getting all pumped up. Then of course she NEVER returned in the sequels.

IMHO THIS is the best Batman has ever looked on film.

The point of the "HERE I AM" symbol was to provide a bulletproof target for criminals to fire at. It as the only bulletproofed part of the suit and Batman figured that criminals would be drawn to shooting at it instead of aiming for the head. Don't know if Bruce Wayne's reasoning is solid on that...but that's the reason from the comic book since the shields inception.

I said it earlier in this thread, but I really think they should have found a way to just bite the bullet and recast the joker. Obviously he was intended for this story.

Bane, catwoman and the batmobile look like a joke.

I don't understand why they didn't keep going with Harvey Dent. The end of The Dark Knight was ambiguous enough to have him in the third one.

They should have just canned the last half hour of Harvey Dent from TDK, leaving the greatest superhero movie ever made. It also would have allowed them to build a whole movie around Two Face instead of something that was rushed and seemed to drag on at the same time.

Not really. I don't think back to back movies with the Joker would be a good thing, especially without Heath Ledger and the way the last one ended. It sounds more like this will concentrate on Gotham's underworld and possibly The League of Shadows, which could be fantastic. I do not like the costumes, but the characters are certainly worthy of carrying the villains role in a movie.

I loved it regardless and love how it setup Batman to "rise" from the ashes to be Gotham's savior once again.

I really don't see how this movie could live up to expectations anyway. TDK was a ridiculously high standard to follow. Its like Return of the Jedi after Empire Strikes Back. Even without the ewoks, there was no way for that movie to live up to its predecessor.

or does the dark knight rise because Bane will break the Bats back

do you mean leaving the greatest supervillain ever made? IMO, wouldve been much better if they cut off the Two Face storyline and just ran with the Joker at the end.Dont mind a new character, but 2 new ones where Two Face couldve continued strikes me as dumb. Especially since Anne Hathaway as Catwoman has me meh at best.

I agree, but Batman Begins might be my favorite film of the 2, so I cant totally get on board. For me, BB has the better storyline. TDK is more of an action movie, with an unbelievable performance from Ledger. That makes them almost equal for me, but also makes me think TDKR can be just as good.

Let's make sure we all hurry up and can this movie now, especially since we've seen pictures of some costumes.

I'm not getting this. Isn't that the same tumbler from the the last movie?

IMO it would be a colossal mistake to attempt the Knightfall story in a movie. It's too long and they would have to introduce another character into this movie. The only way you could do it is with a flash forward type of thing and that would be really crappy.

As far as I know it is, sure looks the same.
Cappy, why the surprise and beef with the old batmobile?I thought it was sort of cool that it looked more like some kind of paramilitary/Hummer type vehicle, and less like the silly things from the prior series of movies

I think people are complaining more about the paint job . . .

That paint job looks familiar. Wasn't it the paint job on one of the models of this thing from the last movie? Or maybe in a drawing from the movie?

Hell it's going to be damn good. Far be it for me to make those dumb complaints earlier. One thing I read:

it's set 8 years after the last movie.

Looks pretty cool to me.

Also, these newer "dark" batman movies are a million times better than the old ones with keaton, nicholson, trent reznor, ac slater, val kilmer, etc.

My favorite was Adam West.

Theres a 7 minute clip from an IMAX preview on the Net and they are going to have to do something about Banes voice because you just cannot understand him. He sounds like a deep throated brit with a rag over his face

This is the second complaint I heard about this today.

Yea, where is this? Every time I see it posted, it is taken down.
Tyler had it up.It was pretty good visually but Banes voice is really bad. I am sure they will re-dub it once they start screening it.

It's up on youtube:

I have no clue what Bane says or what is said when Bruce walks into that tiered room.

Also, who is the man with the cane what we see briefly in the reflection while Alfred is talking?

kind of underwhelming but still pumped. big fan of bane but hate the way he looks still. i really hope he breaks batmans back

so apparently nolan liked his actors in inception, 4 in total in the trailer
