Hello everyone,
I heard from one of the voices on AM 960 in Calgary this morning that RedZone is no longer available in Canada -- it appears that is not exactly the case but it is clearly being phased out for some reason. This appears to be an NFL decision, not a service provider decision. This is from Shaw Communications' website:
"To clarify the removal of NFL RedZone from our lineup was not a Shaw decision. The NFL is removing RedZone, as it’s currently offered, in Canada and as a consequence the service was not extended to Shaw for renewal this season. Based on our understanding, this year will be the last time any provider in Canada will be able to offer the channel.
We've reduced our pricing from last season accordingly and want to note we're the only provider in Canada with the Shaw GO NFL App. Other providers are offering RedZone as a standalone service and it is not included with Sunday Ticket.
We are also disappointed that we are not able to offer RedZone to you this year. Being fans ourselves, we sympathize and understand your frustrations. Our recommendation is to give the Shaw Go NFL Sunday Ticket - Overview app a try and let us know what you think."
If you have Bell Expressvu or another provider, it appears you may be able to have RedZone for one last year. I had to give up NFL Sunday Ticket to keep RedZone, which is obviously much preferred for fantasy purposes.
However, this begs the questions: Why would the NFL do this? What is the NFL's plan for Canada next season? Surely they do not plan to not offer something similar in 2015 in Canada as this is such a popular product.
Does anyone have any other insights?
There is going to be mass hysteria come Sunday when everyone realizes they don't have RedZone and their beloved QuadBox! I would not want to be Ahmed in Shaw or Bell's call center...
