The Dodgers vs. The Cubs (1 Viewer)

Team OBP%Dodgers - .333Cubs - .354In a series that involves tough pitching, this will be the x-factor.....Cubs in 4
Sorry, recurring theme here, but what is it since oh, say August... :blackdot:
since I'm boredDodgers - .360Cubs - .349But the Cubs have outscored the Dodgers 275 - 250 over that same stretch.
Interesting, thanks!I swear, if the Limp Ditkaless Wonders aren't my favorite posters, I don't know who is...

For me I think it boils down to which Zambrano and Harden will show up? Will it be the Zambrano down the stretch where he was struggling and the Harden who was down in velocity for a little bit, or will it be the guys with filthy stuff? If the Cubs get both of those guys dealing, then I think they win the series in no more than 4. If not, I think the Dodgers take them in 5. I hope it will be a good series and that the Dodgers don't throw away a game by messing up on the basepaths (flashback to the Mets series a few years ago).

Night Hawks, it was just a question, relax down bro, I know they're not afraid, they're pros. It's just that somebody, earlier in the thread, brought it up and I was wondering if there was some truth to it (that the Cubs weren't keen on playing LA).No player will ever admit it, but I don't believe them, because there are certainly instances where a team would prefer to play one team, over another...like the Mets over the Dodgers, for example.
:)I'm relaxed and looking forward to tomorrow. Whether players admit it or not, I really think that competitive juices get flowing once they're in the game so it's not like they're tanking at bats.Either way, though, it's the Dodgers. Let's go get 'em!

Bad M/U for the Cubs. The Dodger's pitching is going to be tough and the Manny factor could have a huge impact. However- the Cubs seem to have a lot of the x factors going their way this year and can pour on the runs. Good luck to all and especially to Cub fans if the team blows another post season AGAIN!

I knew you were a windsock. Would a real midwest baseball fan say something like this about a midwest baseball team and their fans?I think not.

I think not- that is about the most accurate thing that you have ever said. It would not phase me one bit to see the Cubs and the Twins (if they get there) take a beating in the post season. Sorry trader I just do not like any of the midwest teams this year aside from the Sox.

:sadbanana: "Windsock", I love it.If there was any doubt as to the quality of this matchup, and dare I say, this thread as well. Well, that has certainly been dispelled with the entrance of...

Yup that's right. Learn some lessons

Cubs take Game 1 today 8 - 3. Soriano & A-ram will each dong, Theriot will be 3-4 with 3 runs scored.

Can't stop the Cubs. Cubs take the series in 4.

Why should Cubs fans be worried about a team that finished 6 games above .500 in the regular season and just 40 - 32 in the West against Arizona, Colorado, San Fran, and San Diego. Easily the worst division in baseball.

Dodgers are 36 - 45 on the road, while the Cubs are 55 - 26 at home. You ain't winning 1 in Chicago.

You had a good September? 9 vs San Diego in Sep, 6 vs San Fran. You also played Colorado, Pittsburgh, and Arizona in Sep. No one else. Good job!

You have Manny now? Wow, you also did in your 2 - 11 stretch in August.

You have no chance in this series!

Me too. But let's see if he'll put his money where his mouth is.Wanna bet, TheWalkmen? 2 - 1 on the series. Neither one of us will pay juice (that's the approximate odds). We'll have a trusty FBG keep the cash, and then distribute it after the series. Money up front. You in?

I'll bet. I don't want in for more than $50 though.ETA: only $50 because I don't normally bet on sports.....

That would mean that if the Dodgers beat the Cubs, you would owe me a $100, more than you want. Since you're not into betting, let's shine it. All that matters is that you were indeed willing to. Good enough... :moneybag:

Good luck with the Cubs.

Fair enough. I was aware that I'd be paying $100 if I lost. I'm not really a sports better, so I'd rather not bet, but definitely willing to put my money where my mouth is on this one.In all honesty, I'm so nervous about the series I'm about to soil my pants sitting in my office. The Cubs should win, but they also should've won either game 6 or 7 of the 2003 NLCS.

Good luck to your team.

Furcal looked rusty on that base hit by Dempster.

I can't make sense of this ump's strike zone either, especially on the low side. He's not been consistent with either pitcher.

:lmao:

I was just telling my wife during that at bat, when it had gone 0-2, how bad he'd looked to me at the plate tonight. Real defensive and not in control.

If it's possible in real life to use the :lmao: smiley, my wife just did.

He did look really bad up to that point. It was really bothering me, as Dempster could barely even sniff the strikezone at that point.

Lowe bailed himself out of the 6th inning nicely, but his stuff is declining and I don't want to see him in the 7th, even if they don't get to him in the order.

Glad to see Joe thinking like I was and putting Wade out there this inning. Wade's turning into what Guillermo Mota was.

When I said it was okay to walk Manny, I didn't mean it was okay to walk the rest of the lineup.

Unbelievable.

First time the Dodgers have led a playoff series since 1988 - nice win. Like Tatum, I was #####ing about Loney's approach before he went yard. What a poke. And Manny's shot was freaking ridiculous. Nice to see Lowe settle down and grind out 6 innings. I would give credit to the Dodgers for their patience at the plate, but Dempster was so wild that there was no way for them not to draw a bunch of walks. And props to Cubs fans giving Maddux a little ovation as he took the mound. Nice win for the Dodgers, and thank God the Big Blue Wrecking Crew finally got a clutch hit in the postseason. If LA hadn't scored in that inning, I'm pretty sure I would have had an aneurysm.

It was a breaking ball that was a full, I don't know, four inches below the bottom of the zone. It was a good pitch. I have no idea how Manny hit it hard or could lift it so that it would leave the yard, much less leave the yard by 50 feet. That was an insane home run.
