The Dodgers vs. The Cubs (1 Viewer)

My fault. My concentration lapsed, and caused the loss. I passed out on the couch for a minute going into the 5th, and woke up to a 4-2 deficit, and the Cubs unable to do a thing. Man, it sucks workin for a living in the real world sometimes. :football:

Congrats Dodgers fans on a nice win. Guess I was wrong on my sweep prediction. See you all tomorrow!
These teams are more evenly matched than you seem to realize. I wouldn't have said that sans Manny, but now they have a good offense to go with their good pitching. Game 2 of a series shouldn't be must-win (I hate 5-game series) but this one is for the Cubs. The Dodgers are flat out dominant at home.

Disagree on the must win. I'll like the Cubs chances with Harden against Kuroda, and also with Lilly against tbd or a three day rest Lowe. The Cubs have been pretty dominant at home as well, so that is meaningless at this point.Even with Manny, I really do think the Cubs are that much better. With that said, though, it is possible for them to lose. It is also possible I am wrong. Regardless, if the Cubs lose I'll tip my hat to the Dodgers and wish them luck in the next round. Not worried though. Talk to me tomorrow!

Not really, no. And I realize this goes against everything I've ever experienced as a Cubs fan. This team is just different. Until they are officially eliminated I will think they have a chance to win. They have earned my trust this year. I feel like this is how the Red Sox were when they won.Again, this is not to slight LA. And I might be wrong. But I truly feel it is the Cubs year.

Oh, and I will be at the game again tomorrow. But I'll be back here to take my lumps if the Dodgers win again.

WOOOOOOOOOOOO! God I was 6 years old since the dodgers have been competitive in the playoffs, what a sweet win! Brings a tear to my eye

I'm not taking it as a slight. You seem like a good fan of your team.

I was thinking earlier about this. The Dodgers are winning postseason games, my Redskins actually look like a good, strong team. Is Reagan president? :blackdot:

First time the Dodgers have led a playoff series since 1988 - nice win. Like Tatum, I was #####ing about Loney's approach before he went yard. What a poke. And Manny's shot was freaking ridiculous. Nice to see Lowe settle down and grind out 6 innings. I would give credit to the Dodgers for their patience at the plate, but Dempster was so wild that there was no way for them not to draw a bunch of walks. And props to Cubs fans giving Maddux a little ovation as he took the mound. Nice win for the Dodgers, and thank God the Big Blue Wrecking Crew finally got a clutch hit in the postseason. If LA hadn't scored in that inning, I'm pretty sure I would have had an aneurysm.
I'm loving the Maddux in the 9th move by Torre. Hard not to be a bit pessimistic as a Cub (player or fan) to be down 7-2 in the bottom of the ninth at home and then see God-in-Cleats stroll out to the bump... This Dodger team has a bit of magic surrounding them these days, could be fun!!!

Gonna read this in a bit, but just wanted to chime in to say, YES!! Big win for blue tonight.

I dvr'd the game, and just finished up. Wasn't worth it though, as I was getting texts and stuff that gave away what was happening. Didn't read them, but I could tell by the amount. Won't do that again (dvr the game)...

Anyway, GO BLUE!! :lmao:

Dempster can't expect to win in the playoffs while giving up 7 walks. Cubs looked like crap, but you have to give LA credit for making them look like crap.

Let's hope Z looks good tonight.

Didn't see any of the game, was Dumpster getting squeezed or just flat out missing?

He was all over the place. Actually wiggled off the hook a few times, before the levee broke.

if anything, lowe was getting squeezed early on.

Surprised no one saying anything about Lou's choice to hit ####udome in the 2 hole.......I don't care if 1,2,3 goes R,L,R.......Put The Riot in the damn 2 hole where he's been effective all year and give yourself a better chance to win the Damn ballgame!!

:thumbup:The Dodgers started that game flat on offense. They were getting handed baserunners left and right and couldn't do anything with those opportunities. If Loney gets out rather than hits a slam, I don't know what happens to that game because that HR sure awakened them, and they badly needed it. They looked tentative and jumpy at the plate before that.

I also am not worried. Now, if they lose Game 2, I will definitely have my hand very close to the panic button (you guys should get one of those; comes in very handy).

Dodgers are a good bet tonight. Z has not been consistent and can get rattled. Billingsley is damn good, with not a lot to lose (after winning game 1). Dodgers got the mo and really loosened up last night after the GS. Whereas Wrigley Field was like a funeral last night. Players could easily be pressing in a must-win situation...tough spot.

Yeah, if I was a betting man, I'd be all over the dog.

Billingsley's achilles heel is going too deep into counts, which hurts his ability to get deep into games. It's looking ok right now, but I don't like seeing two full counts at the end of that inning.

Reminds me. I meant to bring up the HR from last night. I still can't believe he hit that pitch out. Amazing. No only that he hit that particular pitch out, but how he hit it out.
I know some will scream about steroids, but I remember Mark McGwire hitting one like that in '98. The ball was literally around his ankles and he nailed it like a golf ball far over the left field wall. That was as ridiculous as the one Ramirez hit last night. Ramirez might be a d-bag, but he sure can hit a baseball.

Game 1: Cub pitchers can't throw strikes

Game 2: Cub fielders can't field

=Manny is a stud..................please sign him, and move Fonzie to Right

Nice series, see you guys next year.

ughhhhhh!!!!

Sorry, man. Losses in the playoffs do suck, for sure.

But don't give up yet. Series' can turn around awfully quickly. All the Cubs gotta do is win Game 3 and they are then a win away from hosting a deciding game. Sounds simple, but you never know.
