The Dodgers vs. The Cubs (1 Viewer)

I think all three remaining NL teams can win the pennant but I probably like the Dodgers more than the others because they have the pitching. I had a dream two months ago that the Phillies would win the World Series and I at that point believed it was a sign from God, so I'll stick with the Phillies but the Dodgers could really win it all and I wouldn't be a bit surprised.

yeah, it's weird, I'm in Hawaii and my feed is way faster than that of L.A. I was talking to a buddy there while watching the game earlier, and we realized I wasn't just a little ahead, but a lot. :shrug:Anyway, :hifive:
:suds:Tried explaining to my gf what a big win this was. Me :pickle: Her

I love that they went out to celebrate with the bleacher creatures. AWESOME.

Holy crap, as I type, Torre goes back on the field to address the crowd that hasn't left. AWESOMER.

Congrats Dodgers.

Sure wish the Cub team I watched all season showed up. Once.

Kind of bummed now, but this was still the best Cubs team I've ever seen. Good luck LA, you've got a really nice club there (not to mention classy fans). I hope to see you guys in October next year!

Cubs sweep. This is a mismatch.
This is a bad match-up for the Cubs.
How so?
Dodgers have the best pitching staff in the NL statistically and they play in a pitcher friendly park. They also have just enough hitting and Manny Ramirez. Cubs would have beat the Mets in 3 and the Phillies in 4, I just don't like this match-up for them at all. I think the Dodgers will win three games 3-1 or 2-1.
Well, the Cubs are right behind the Dodgers in terms of pitching (in a more hitter friendly park) and far superior hitting-wise. The Cubs scored almost a run higher per game than the Dodgers this year. That is huge. If the Dodgers only score 3 runs a game they get swept. Period.
Cubs scored 6 runs in the series, Dodgers scored 3 tonight and won. Color me unsurprised.
I'll give you that you were right. If you really expected a Dodger sweep then you should move to Vegas. Not bagging on the Dodgers - but tonight was the only game they "won" 3-1. The Cubs gave away the first two and Harden was at 90 tonight (read not 100%). The Dodgers still had to take them, and they did. I must give them their due there. The Cubs absolutely sucked this series. Yes it was partially due to the Dodgers pitching but 97 wins tell me they were much better than they showed in this series.Again, not trying to sound like sour grapes - I sincerely wish you guys good luck.

So, you're saying that basically the Dodgers didn't earn this series because the Cubs gave it to them. OK.

Not at all. I think I've been clear about that in all my posts. The Dodgers won the series, deserved to win and have a really good team.I was responding to a single posters comments and my interpretation of those comments. That's all.

I'll take the Dodgers in 5.
Is it too late to change my pick to Dodgers in 3?Congrats to the Dodgers! Their SP were fantastic, and they got key hits when they needed them. Their lineup is so much better with Furcal hitting 1st and Manny hitting 3rd. At the start of the playoffs, I was saying they were my sleeper team to make the World Series. I really think they will make it now, no matter if they play Philly or Milwaukee.

Couldn't happen to a better team.1908 and counting.
Disagree. Any other team but the Dodgers and I'm pulling for the Cubs.
:goodposting:These things have a funny way of turning around. Look at the 2003 versus 2004 Red Sox. I root for teams that have been long-suffering. You can't fault Cubs fans for supporting their team through thick and thin.

Manny's had a huge effect upon that lineup, but Furcal's effect is if anything equivalent believe it or not. He's a catalyst, not only by being a good leadoff hitter, but simply through his personality and by being aggressive. He's a leader. If you want to see what I'm talking about, look at the Dodgers' April 2008 offensive stats (when they had a healthy Furcal) versus May-July (which was pre-Manny and with Furcal on the DL). It was day and night.

By Furcal getting healthy for the playoffs, they've virtually added another Manny in effect.

Dodgers fans felt like you did in the 1990's when the Piazza-led teams couldn't win a playoff game and, in at least one instance, collapsed down the stretch and couldn't even reach the post-season. It was awful.Your team doesn't suddenly lose that talent. If that team continues to build, they'll be fine. I think they're going to break through.

:football:Had no idea how good this Dodger team was.
Neither did most Dodger fans, as this is the first time we've really been able to see Furcal and Manny in the same lineup. Hopefully Kuo can get healthy for the next round - it would be great to have him as an option out of the bullpen.

wow, i spent a small fortune in tix and crap this year. really disheartening having to go through this. ####### CUBS! .

This will leave a sour taste in my mouth for awhile. The fans deserve in the post-season what we saw April-September. Not a bunch of ####### who #### their pants when the pressure hits them. Maybe that's just what they are? Winners just don't lay down and not compete on a big stage..............Until next year. Good luck L.A.

Chicago Cubs........#### YOU!!!!!

BEAR DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick few things before this thread dies like the ####### Cubs in the playoffs.

A) Congratulations to the Dodgers and their fans. For the most part (read, just about 100% of the time), you guys were cool in this thread and it was a fun back and forth.

B) I want to say I cannot believe how hideous the Cubs offense was this series. But I'm conditioned to believe this #### when the postseason comes around.

C) I will not follow the Cubs next season. They have to win a postseason series before I ever really start to get excited again. I've been a Cubs fan for all my 31 years and this one is the toughest to swallow. I am a still a Cubs fan and will not jump ship to another team. But the regular season doesn't mean #### when it comes to this team.

D) I agree with Sweetcan's post, except go Cowboys.

E) I guess I am rooting for the Dodgers.

F) Ugh. Disgusting. :pickle:

I'm beginning to see the genuis that is Limp Ditka, and I'm converting to a White Sox fan. My Cubs shirt was thrown away Saturday night and bought some Sox gear Sunday afternoon. Well, not really. I'll always be a Cubs fan, but this is such a huge disappointment that it's actually painful.

Dodgers whooped our asses, congrats to Dodger fans and good luck.

I'm telling you, outside of quiting tobacco, nothing's been better for my health.I highly recomend it. As a matter of fact, I think I'm going to start a 12 step program for other people that are smart enough to consider following my lead.

Tell me, sweetacn. Can we consider ####odome a disaster yet?Oh, and
It's gonna happen :)
;) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:Trust me sweetcan, I've taken it easy on the decent Cub fans like Wrigley and Boom. They are realistic fans that deep down knew not to get their hopes up too high, because in the end, they're still the Cubs. However, it's the fools like yourself that I'm laughing the hardest at.

??????????####udome is borderline disaster at the plate no doubt. Hopefully he improves against major league pitching with one full year under his belt.......And I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that every other loyal cub fans' (including Wrigley and Boom) hopes were too high due the result. But any baseball educated fan would have classified the Cubs as the one of the best, if not THE Best team in the National league on paper. So how were the hopes (too) high? I believe in high hopes when you're team is good....or even when they aren't that good for the matter. Isn't that #1 criteria for a Loyal fan? Fans can say whatever they want but deep down there are always high hopes. I know quite a few people who have changed sides in Chicago in my lifetime and that's cool, but it's apparent that those people including you Limpy, never really were a loyal fan in the first place.
