THE DRAFT (1 Viewer)

The NFL Draft may be the ultimate game of hold ‘em. Agents crank up the smoke machine. They fuel newspapers with info to help entice clubs into selecting their client/s. NFL personnel deploy their smoke screens. The old adage “where there’s smoke there’s fire” is challenged, as sometimes we discover … its just smoke.

It got me wondering … how much, if any, goes on in this forum. Without question, there are a lot of clever, savvy, players in here. And I find it difficult to believe, folks are showing their hands. I suppose some may still be unknown poster to others in their respective leagues, I was at one time.

I have to say, I enjoy drafting and the preparation that goes with, more than anything else pertaining to FF. As more of the owners in my league frequent this forum; the less input I’m willing to share. I intend to keep things a bit closer to the vest, then in years past. I’ll miss being a part of some of the dialogue and plugging in my 2 cents worth … that’s for sure.

Why show your hand? Especially when it comes to the so-called sleepers. I’m

interested as to how others play their cards?

Ah, the game within the game.

I'm sort of obligated to show my hand around here, but it hasn't stopped me from beating up on some posters and lurkers in the forum.

:bye: cartel, DanFouts, phillybatterythrower, myditka, some of my esteemed staff colleagues, etal. :P

I posted a thread a while back called: "Waiver Wire Dynasty Sleepers?" in that thread I listed Al Wilson as a sleeper. I did so in good faith and as it turns out with his recent visits to the Lions it was validated.

However, I did stop short in listing a handful of other sleepers I have in my back pocket until after me league's auction next week.

I wouldn't say I blow smoke as much as I subdue the fire. ;)

I have come over to this forum, I am also an active member on another site, because I don't want to feel like I should hide some info/opinion. I have no intentions on ever joining a FBG league so I'm not tempted to play the smoke and mirrors card over here.

Don't worry, lots of people from other sites come here too.

You dont say ...I withhold some of my sleepers but almost always end up blabbing at some point ...

i post all my targets; i just leave out the man-crush stuff.

that way you won't know who'll i'll be going after hard

when i really like a guy, i'll copy/paste articles like "coaches say...", or "team observers report", instead of saying "i want this guy on my fantasy team at all costs; if i don't draft him i'll go hard to trade for him".

the twist in how the post is phrased is nice middle ground

Some of us change our names though :lmao: And I hold back anything but the obvious

If you take the information from this forum as is, then that's what makes being a shark successful. This forum is great to initiate research of your own into a player and make your own assessment. Why would you take a post for anything more than what it is.......a post.

I'm totally honest here. I'll always get more from this forum than I give back. If everyone shares, we'll all benefit.

Great advice ... Thats what makes this IDP forum so great, the good folks in here don't take a post for anything more than it is. No ego's in here, or at least they don't come across ... nobody claims to be a shark ... everyone is well intune, courteous and respectful.

Great thread.

I've often wondered if other guys in my league venture to this forum. I guess I've held on to that they still might not know it is me and honestly I wouldn't care too much if they did. It wouldn't change how or what I post.

That said, I haven't gone out of my way to mention the forum to any of them. I consider it my home field advantage. ;)
