***The Dynasty Draft Pick Calculator*** (1 Viewer)

Starting a thread here for the Dynasty Draft Pick Calculator.

The tool and the article are both on the main FBG Page (under Dynasty Tab) and also in my signature.

Looking to help anyone with questions about it.

From another thread:

Anyone tried to use the Dynasty Draft Pick Calculator to gauge their value for your league?
Just threw in a scenario for a 14 team league.Tried moving up from 1.07 to 1.05

Using the calculator, the 1.05 could not be traded for even if I gave all my draft picks for it (1.07, 2.07, 3.07, 4.07, 5.07, and 6.07)

I don't think there is that much difference between the 5 and 7 spot.
This might require a separate thread (not sure if that's warranted or wanted) but what are your league settings as far as roster size and starters?
I used: 14 teams, starting 1Q 2R 3W 1K 1D (though the RB/WR situation better fits flex than set numbers). 21 roster spots
:shock:
For this setup:14 teams

21 roster spots

Start 1-2-3-1-1-1

Dynasty Factor (DF) = 5.199

1.05 = 912

1.07 = 642

Difference = 270.

Pick to make even = 13 (1.13) which is worth 242. (1.07 and 1.13 is 3.09% less than 1.05 value).

Your comment about the rest of your picks "not being enough" is true, mostly because of a high DF (>4 is high) which means value drops off very quickly. 2.07 = 78 points, which means anything in Round 3 and beyond has iffy value at best.

You can also interpret the values to see what a redraft value pick is worth to determine what level of veteran might be a good throw-in to make it even.

For example, the difference is 270. Using Dodd's calculator, that's about player 86 overall.

Last year, that player was Vernon Davis, which feels too high, so in general I think a veteran value should be about equal to 50% of the point difference. In this case, that is 135 points.

That's player #107, or Eli Manning (or Ronald Curry, 108) using last year's ADP.

So bottom line, 1.05 = 1.07 + about the 90th-110th best veteran in your league.

I hope that helps.

Some general thoughts:

DF > 4 is high. DF < 3 is low. 3-4 is pretty typical.

The "Pick to make even" is one of my favorite features. Really comes in handy, and if you want to use it for redraft values you can as well:

Redraft settings:

Defaults (1-2-3-1-1-1, 12 teams)

Set roster size = 93.6

DF will then be = 1.000

I dont think its very good with later picks, I punched in 1.16+2.3 for 1.12 for a IDP league kind of like red dog except smaller and it liked the 1.12 side. The 1.16 and 2.3 are right in the sweet part of an idp draft so dont quite get that.

Is this a new one or the same one from last year? Just asking if I have to download a new one or not?

It's the same one - I opened it up to discussions if people wanted tweaks, but I didn't find much to adjust. :shock:I'm cool by any recommendations. All I recall is a wish for flex.

Red Dog, right?16 teams1-2-3-1 on offense3-4-4 on defense45 man roster Dynasty Factor = 5.656 :bye:"Well, there's your problem...."You have 18 starters and 45 bench spots, so only 1.5 bench spots per starter. That demands more from rookies out of the gate to contribute (which means the DF will be high).This deal:1.12 = 2381.16 = 1242.03 = 78So the two picks are worth 202 combined, still less than 1.12.The problem here is that we're getting down into the weeds as far as the value.Take away the 2.03 pick, and the calculator recommends you give 2.01 instead. Then it's close to even.I would tend to agree that - in a normal year - I'd rather have two picks in the 11th-20th player range than just one.
