The ensuing disaster: Vick @ Gmen (1 Viewer)

I've been talking about this matchup for 6-7 weeks now. Vick has gotten us all to this point. However, Eagles horrific line + Giants defense = diasater. He's my only QB but if i had any other options i would greatly consider it. Color me worried

Are you going to do one of these threads everyday until Sunday? :goodposting:

Please take a Xanex or something.
i dont know about you but vick played the giants already and had a decent game n vs chicago he threw for 300 so yes its a tuff matchup but studs always find a way to shine through. the best gameplan vs the giants is dump off passes to mccoy and use more the te on short routes and try to hit quick slants n turnaround routs vs giants to limit the pass rush..

disaster=19 fantasy points.

Yeah I guess it depends on what your definition of a disaster is. My definition would be him getting knocked out or Throwing for 150 yds and 2 picks. Others might think a Vick "disaster" is 250yds and a TD.

A defense can do everything right against Vick and—unless they knock him out of the game—he can still put up 20 fantasy points. He shown that. I wouldn't worry.

You mean the same matchup where here threw for 250 yards, and ran for another 35 and a score? Care to make a side bet on Vick being a top 5 qb? Vick's floor (around 16-17 pts) is a good game for most qb's in the league.

Bad weather predicted. I don't know that Vick kills you, but you better not be counting on him for 25 pts plus.
His Redskins game was in the rain. Could you imagine defenders trying to chase down Vick, D.Jax, McCoy, and Maclin on a sloppy field? Dont think the weather matters to much and bad weather may even favor the Eagles.

I admit I'm worried too. I have Vick in 3 leagues but also 3 pretty solid alternatives (Peyton Manning, Ryan, and Brady). At this point I'm REALLY torn. I agree you never bench your studs, but Manning and Brady are studs too.

Until now I thought I was going to get killed by my opponent who has Vick. Thanks for brightening my day! Looking forward to the ensuing disaster.

I wouldn't be here without Vick like a lot of people and there aint no way I'm going into this game sitting him. Worry if you want but his upside is way too high to even think about that imo

Let's not forget the 2-3 touchdown drops in that game.

I love how any game played north of the Mason Dixon line in weeks 13-17 is immediately tagged with the dreaded "OMG WEATHER ALERT" announcement. As if snow falls 100% of the time while the wind howls in at 50mph, creating awful field conditions at every stadium over the entire northern half of the United States.

What's next, the dome pressurization effect?

 Not many qbs can even beat Vick's floor. He could poop his way to 15 points.

I'd have a big gafaw if Vick puts up a stinker in this one. Everyone's so convinced he's impervious.
For the record, I don't think any quarterback is impervious. Could Vick put up a stinker? I guess so. But I'm not going to out-think myself and bench him for Matt Ryan (my next best alternative). If Ryan ends up outscoring Vick and the point difference ends up swinging a win into a loss, oh well. I'll sleep well knowing that the "right" decision doesn't always work out.

I sence an underlying fear of defeat by someone who doesn't own Vick this week!
Haters are funny people! I love how Vick is somehow held to a higher standard. ALL qb's have bad games. Brady didnt crack 20 points from weeks 4 through 9. Rivers, Mannings, and Rodgers have all had games less than 10 pts. Vick puts up 19 in a game with multiple dropped TD's (his lowest scoring full game of the year) and people say he had a bad game and predict the apocalypse the next time they play! I hope all those waiting for Vick's "inevitable" fall have A LOT of patience.

This week I would rank them:Brady>Manning>=Vick>Ryan

I just can't see it... now granted I am an Eagles homer, but Vick has been a top QB in ... what.... every game he played this year? His floor is better than most QB ceilings. How can you even consider benching him in a divisional game where the Eagles and the Gmen both need to win. Call me crazy, but I call high scoring game here.

Benching your studs in the playoffs usually works out well. It is a good idea to do this.
Agreed. Although please tell that to Steve "I got ejected after scoring just 1 point and cost Grove Diesel a Championship in a game decided by less than a point" Smith. But I'm not still bitter about that or anything.

I sense an Eagle fan who's offended by the thought.I'll scream it from the rooftops, I'm probably going to get housed by the Vick owner this week. But I thought the same thing when I went h2h against the A Rodgers owner last week. :goodposting:

Knob slobbers are a real laugher as well.Vick's great, I love watching him play. I wish badly that I owned him, and I'm convinced I'm losing because I'm up against him. He's probably going to be all that this weekend. But for every hater there's the opposite.

I own Vick.

I hate the Eagles.

I am a Giants Homer.

I will be at the game on Sunday.

I will be drinking enough beer not to worry about starting him.

He could struggle and still salvage his game with scrambles and rushing scores. The Giants should be careful not to over-pursue, since Vick stepping up in the pocket and seeing nothing but turf is scary for any defense. Less pressure should give him more time to throw.

Good chance he won't perform well enough to win your week for you like he does sometimes...but if you lose, I don't think it will be because of Vick. A "bad" day for him usually turns out to be average fantasy production and it's his low floor that people appreciate as much as his high ceiling.

NYG let a much less elusive Kitna put up 187 and 2TDs in 3 qtrs, and then 327 and 3TDs in the next meeting. That should be around Vick's floor for this weekend.

High of 35 degrees, 30% chance of snow showers...love the idea of precipitation, more problems for G-Men to catch him.

LOL, I have Vick, opponent has Bradshaw...hopefully a passing shoot-out...G-Men WIN 56-55

LOL, I play a Giants fan and he has McCoy and Maclin while I have Bradshaw and just lost S. SmithGo figure

His floor is lower than that. 258 yards passing, 34 yards rushing, 1 TD earlier this year at home against the Giants. That's probably the floor.

But I thought the same thing when I went h2h against the A Rodgers owner last week. :pickle:
Bold prediction -- I agree, Vick will have the same type of performance Rodgers had if he gets knocked out of the game. Wow, way to go out on a limb.
What the?.............you're going to need to connect the dots for me to show how that became a prediction of mine.I didn't know Philly fans were so sensitive.

Vick, Rivers, Vick, Rivers, Vick, Rivers........that is what has been going through my mind this entire week and I sure hate that I have to decide by Thursday night.

I am leaning toward sitting Vick.

Nah.....you play Vick in that situation. If Rivers has a huge game you still have the potential for an even bigger game from Vick. If Rivers stinks then you have to stew for 3 days before Vick plays and makes you feel even worse. That's why it's always so tempting to start your guys who play on SNF and MNF.

I maybe wrong but the above indicates you think almost ANY QB (in your example it's Rodgers week 14) is capable of a bad game. My point is Rodgers had a bad game ONLY because he got knocked out. Obviously if a QB gets knocked out early enough he'll have a bad game. NOBODY calculates the chance of injury in their projections -- it's nonsense. Citing Rodgers' performance last week is an invalid example of a QBs odds of a bad game. Were talking about a healthy Vick versus the NYGs, now it's more helpful if you tell us what is your prediction if he plays the whole game.

i have the exact same combo and i'm starting vick without hesitation. i guess i'm oldskool, i'd rather go down with the ship starting my studs than get cute and regret it all off-season.
