The fall of Disney. Self destruction of a sterling brand. (3 Viewers)

Since Disney is against the Parental Rights in Education Bill and is also doing business in countries that have strict anti-gay laws, shouldn't everyone be boycotting them.

The country is not divided into red states and blue states. To the extent we're divided geographically at all, it's urban/suburban vs exurban/rural.
That's why talk about civil war is ridiculous. They won't be marching from Texas to fight in California they'll be blowing up their neighbors house while hoping their neighbor isn't blowing up their house.

I don't think the focus is sex ed - it's not wanting videos/books/info in the classrooms either.   There have been several examples of what people are talking about too.

I stopped going to businesses in my town based on their covid policies, so I can see people boycotting Disney over their policies.
Then what is the problem that is being trying to fix. Just read through this thread looking for examples.

Honestly, the only time this topic would come is when kids talking about families. We live in the 21st century and some kids might have 3 dads or 2 moms. When else would this come up?  Are people objecting to telling a child that there is nothing wrong with their family when they have 2 dads?

Why don’t people just home school if they don’t like reality being taught at school?

Not that simple there tiger.....most parents need two incomes to make ends meet.

So to be clear, you think parents should accept whatever is taught to their children without question, correct?  So 100% across the board public schools are dealing in "reality" and us parents who are involved and maybe have questions or concerns are just backwards idiots?  Is that what u are saying?

That is happening increasingly too according to figures I’ve seen recently. Some states are making renewed efforts to divert money to this.
I think parents should be able to divert their tax dollars to fund home schooling, or private schooling if they so choose.

Agreed.  Of course, none of that would be necessary if the left hadn't hijacked our education system to push their agenda instead of, y'know, teaching students the things they actually need in life.

I'm assuming this isn't rhetorical, so if it is apologies.  My list would include:

1.  Early childhood education.
2.  Support for parentless children.
3.  Staffing at the border to process immigrants.
4.  Opportunity for Healthcare
5.  Tax Reform

Those are the top things that pop into mind immediately.
I'm guessing that for conservatives the problems you have in these areas are features, not bugs.

I'll ask again- what exactly is the issue here? Do you think companies should not allow their content to be streamed in countries that oppress homosexuals? What would that accomplish?

I don't understand why Disney would take any political position.  They should be in the business of making money, not cow-towing to extreme political activists.  But since they've taken a position don't go against that position in another country because you're making money.  Remove your brand from those countries, if you really feel strongly about your position and aren't just virtue signaling.

Between the two parties or sides or however you want to characterize it, which one would you say has passed more legislation, adopted more regulations, conditioned more funds or otherwise used the tools of government to tell educators what they can and cannot discuss with students?

Can we all start making decisions on where are tax dollars are spent. There's a lot of things I do and don't want my tax money used for.
Yeah. Certainly would make it easier to reduce the military.  Just like the goal of those that support diverting funds from public schools is to make them smaller and worse

Disney takes positions because in order to make money they need quality employees, and in order to attract and retain quality employees they have to listen to their demands and make them feel safe and happy in the states in which Disney wants them to work and live.

But even if that were not the motivation, if they were doing this entirely because the CEO or board or shareholders or whoever opposed the bill themselves- how is that position inconsistent with a decision to stream your content to the normal human beings who just happen to live in oppressive countries? Wouldn't you want those people to be able to enjoy your content, especially if it teaches tolerance and diversity?

I’m perfectly fine with conservatives cancelling Disney. Should make the parks less crowded, lines shorter and maybe even lower prices. Go for it!
I truly truly truly hope this happens. The parks are so overstuffed right now.

Meh...Lucas did more to screw up that franchise than Disney IMO.  And now what Disney is doing with the Mandalorian, Boba Fett, and upcoming with Obi Wan...its fantastic.
Yup, all the tv series are so good. I liked the movies too but I know there are some who don’t.

You are aware that the employee protest was only a minority of the employees who work at Disney.  What the company should have done was fire the employees who walked out due to violations of their union contracts.  But your reply is just shows that you don't really understand the bill much like many of the people who labeled it "don't say gay".  Kinda like the "return to Jim Crow" remarks made about the GA voting laws.  Just a bunch of people getting upset over something because Republicans support it.

Per your second statement, I'm sure what some homosexually oppressed person in another country needs to survive is to have access to season 2, episode 6 of the Mandolorian.

I DID notice my comment went unaddressed.  I suspect you're right.

Why does it matter that it was only a minority of employees?  Doesn't change the fact that Disney taking the position it did was entirely consistent with them being "in the business of making money<' although you suggested it wasn't.

Per your second statement, I'm not the one who suggested that Disney streaming season 2, episode 6 of the Mandalorian to people who live in Algeria was somehow "going against their position" on the Florida legislation. That was you.

Answer here is two fold:

1.  The state legislature dragged them into this whole ####show via another bill around what companies can/can't do on these same topics by calling Disney's diversity training as an example of why the law was needed.

2.  Disney has a great many cast members that are in the LGBTQ demographic that demanded they do/say something.

ETA:  I'll add a third....corporations are people too.  At least that's what "conservatives" were telling me just a few short years ago.

Yeah, not congruent with the position "it doesn't matter its a minority of teachers pushing sex / trans --the law was needed"

Not at all what I said.  Are you saying if there is even one single incident of a teacher teaching something a parent doesn't feel is “their truth” we should revamp the entire department of education?

The law says this as well.

Republicans can invent a problem for any solution.  It’s merely virtue signaling so their hateful base knows the are hateful enough.
Probably should tone down on this.  We have great, kind Republicans around these parts.  We need to stop acting like the extremes of the parties represent a of the parties.

There’s something so funny about this base of people just twisting themselves up in anger in regards to whatever the grievance is of the day. Just constantly mad, no days off baby.

NFL gone, Disney gone, NBA gone, major studio movies gone, soon all that will be left for them to do is watch Ben Shapiro and post on Trump’s fake Twitter app about how they cut out meat because cows are woke now.

Yeah, it's the right that's marching in the streets and burning things down.

I suggest you go visit the "Libs of Tiktok" and then come back here and talk to me about who is twisting themselves and making issues out of stuff.

Revisionist and gaslighting is a thing with you guys.  Oy vey.

I think if we had an honest press that reported both sides, most suburban moms would be appalled about the details of the Littlejohn lawsuit.

Woke cows…Devin Nunes will not be happy.

You guys literally rioted in the Capitol.

There are certainly a lot of dumb liberals too. I’ll never have tiktok though.

Don't forget reruns of Hee Haw and Gomer Pyle.

Wouldn't the "Parental Rights in Education Bill" potentially forbid Disney content from being sold to schools - one way or another?   Because it openly portrayed gay or lesbian or transexual characters even if there was nothing sexual at all in the content?

If so-

Isn't it just capitalism to defend these markets?  Isn't it just capitalism to expand into markets?

I'm saying the left is trying to tear down our white supremacist system, which includes the the education system.....I mean that's how you effect change, right?  Get the kids programmed.  Try to keep up man.
