The FBG 2014 Magazine App...unbelievable value (2 Viewers)

SYMPHONY X

Footballguy
Just downloaded the FBG 2014 Mag application for my android phone, and believe that it wouldn't be right if I didn't start a thread "pimping" it BIG-TIME. Forgive me if someone has already done so.

I have been trolling the FBG message boards since around 2001, and have been a subscriber a time or three. So I am very familiar with Joe and the staff.

So when I first saw the ad in the FBG daily email about the $4.99 price for the 2014 Mag app, I thought Joe and the boys must have lost their minds! All of this awesome content for $4.99?! Did they mis-place the decimal point? Surely $49.99 sounds more reasonable and fair.

Well, all I can say is take full advantage of this philanthropic gesture my friends. And a HUGE thank you to Joe, Matt, Cecil, Sigmund, and the rest of the staff for giving those of us on a tight budget the gift of all their hard work and fantasy knowledge for pennies on the dollar!

I helped doing some of the beta testing on the Magazine app and agree, it's a great value. It's well organized and easy to find a ton of info and articles. The Magazine app always gives me some great reading material when I'm a passenger in the car or waiting for my wife to try on some clothes at the store. It's much better than going out and buying a magazine as the info and articles are constantly updated and right there on my phone and tablet to access everywhere.

Yes indeed, this application has made, or will make printed fantasy mags pretty much obsolete. I somewhat begrudgingly spent 10 bucks for a mag a couple of weeks ago. Wish I had known about this app sooner!

Surely $49.99 sounds more reasonable and fair.
I don't think that sounds reasonable OR fair, and I write for the thing. ;)

But yeah, $5 is a pretty solid deal. Digital content delivery means it's cheaper than paper mags, and more up-to-date, to boot.
Hey SSOG...ok, so maybe $49.99 is a bit high :P

You have been posting quality stuff (maybe not in some people's opinion!) here on the message boards since I can remember. Thanks for contributing to the magazine!

We are very proud of this project. What makes it the go to magazine in my opinion are these things:

1. It's mobile. You can read this in the bathroom, in a car. Anywhere that your phone or tablet can go.

2. You don't need to be online to access the content. It will download the latest when you are online and then will be there when you are not.

3. It is $4.99 whereas most printed magazines now cost $7.99 or $8.99

4. Whereas your typical printed fantasy magazine might have 6-8 articles, we debuted with hundreds of articles. When August hits, we will likely have 500+ articles in this magazine.

5. It contains content from Footballguys staff and the best free articles from around the web.

6. It's a great place to see news, staff rankings, ADP, depth charts, Top 200 lists, player pages, team writeups, etc

7. It updates every day based on the latest content. Where your printed magazine is STALE in August, ours is updated with the latest information so it's constantly fresh.

I am obviously biased, but I really can't imagine NOT having this app on my phone and tablet. And because we designed it as a universal interface, you can download once and use it for your iPhone/iPad (all iOS devices) or all Android devices.

As for the low price, we see it as an entry way into our subscription services. For people that just want Draft Prep, this is the go to app for you. If you want all season long coverage, a myriad of apps, plus everything we will ever write about football this year, you will want the full subscription.

Does the information given on the magazine app differ than my regular FBG subscription?

The subscription contains all articles written including the 89 features each week during the season.

The magazine contains all of the preseason free articles (through July 15th) and about 25% of the paid preseason articles. It does NOT include any season content.

Clarification: I was under the impression that it does NOT include any in-season content. Was this a typo, or am I mistaken?

With the FPC drafting so many leagues, is there a good place to find or click ADP specific to FPC scoring and league setup?

This seems liike it shod be a select within the draft dominator, no? And it may already be.

Thanks

Sold. Huge first world problem solved.

Do I need to buy the app separately if I am already a footballguys subscriber? Or, is it included in the subscription?

all of the articles, lists, player pages, etc in the app appear on the website so you really do not have to buy if you are a subscriber. You do not get the app free if you are a subscriber.

It appears most of your guys questions have been answered, w/ exception of possibly Grizzlie Now I can tell ya Grizzlie that as stated above, info such as http://subscribers.footballguys.com/apps/article.php?article=14bramel_defensive_back_tiers_postOTA is "included". However its possible that you may want to wait for a response from the IDP Guru's..

Now I also have a quick question.. Is there any prescribed limits on "copy and paste" of info from the magazine for discussion.
Any articles that are aggregated/curated from other sites are fair game- they're all freely available on the internet. Standard message board etiquette suggests you provide a link to the original and credit to the author, but if it's available for free, there's no limits on copying (with attribution).

Any articles that are written by FBGs themselves after July 15th are subscriber content. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to copying subscriber content onto the forums, but a general guideline is that you can selectively quote individual points, but you can't give away the core essence. For example, if someone wrote an article about undervalued tight ends, you could say "so-and-so wrote an article about undervalued TEs and here was what he had to say about one of the guys on his list, do you agree or disagree?", but you couldn't say "so-and-so wrote an article about undervalued TEs, and here is half of the list, what do you think?". Or if someone wrote an article about Robert Griffin III, you could say "here's one point that so-and-so made about RGIII, and I disagree because _________", but you couldn't say "so-and-so made all of these points about RGIII, and I disagree because _________". And in general, paraphrasing tends to be a bit more kosher than straight up copy/pasting ("Staffer X is high on Gronkowski because he feels that ______" is better than "Staffer X said this about Gronkowski: ___________.")

Ultimately, over-sharing subscriber content, much like obscenity, is kind of a "we know it when we see it" thing.

What is the benefit to the magazine as opposed to just logging into the website? Is it the same content subscribers already pay for? I tried the mobile draft dominator but got a refund because I couldn't see myself using it over the DD on a laptop. I'm just so familiar with it on my laptop that I would rather use that, and use my phone for research during drafts.

There's no content in the magazine app that isn't already included in the paid FBG Insider Pro subscription (although the reverse is not also true- there is some Insider Pro content that is not included in the magazine app). The big advantage of the magazine app is format- it's specifically designed to work with the smaller real-estate and touch-friendly navigation of mobile platforms, and it can download content for offline reading when you don't have an internet connection. But if neither of those are that important to you, you can absolutely still get everything just by logging in to the website from your mobile device of choice.

While the in season content might be not be available, it would be wise to keep some weekly updates of some sort going on the app to keep folks using it beyond June and July. I'm sure you all have thought about that.

It's my understanding that the magazine app will continue to get new content pushed to it all the way up until the regular-season kickoff. The goal is to have the industry's best / only all-digital, constantly-updated, always-current fantasy magazine. Basically just like the fantasy magazines of yesterday, except the information doesn't ever become dated after going to printing. It should remain current and useful all preseason long.

How did you get the refund? I ordered the draft dominator by accident instead of the magazine. :bag: Who did you reach out to?

Google play gives you an option. Just click on it in the Play store.

Just got both these apps and think they are great. One thing I would like to see on the did app if possible would be the nfl schedule, maybe with some sos coloring.
