charles tyrwhitt?Sorry if this was covered in the first 50 pages...
Looking for "slim fit" dress shirts for work, will be worn without a tie or jacket.
Like the Brooks Brothers shirts but not many color options and can't stomach $80 x ? of shirts.
Any suggestions for a place to get slim fit dress shirts for less, sale or no?

Check out Express in the mall. They have some decent dress shirts that are slim fit (I believe the style is called 1MX if I remember right). All kinds of colors and patterns and good fit. Still gonna cost you about $60 per shirt, but sometimes have sale of buy 1, get 2nd 50% off or whatever.Sorry if this was covered in the first 50 pages...Looking for "slim fit" dress shirts for work, will be worn without a tie or jacket.Like the Brooks Brothers shirts but not many color options and can't stomach $80 x ? of shirts.Any suggestions for a place to get slim fit dress shirts for less, sale or no?

I agree it's not top of the line. But, if looking for a slim cut dress shirt, quickly without much hassle in a number of colors this is a decent option.Tip, don't get Express...

XThanks for the suggestion though.Cost will be comparable to Brooks Brothers
Do you wear it once a year?Or there is the option to get a classic, well fitting shirt that will still be on your hangar in 5 years.
Express is cheap crap. Once you experience a well fitting, well made shirt you could never go back in my opinion
I'd tend to agree with this. While I've never tried Express, I know they're the same company called Structure that go rebranded b/c they were teh suck. I remember going to a Structure store back in high school and thinking it had to be the worst store known to man. Moderately priced clothing made on the cheap. You're better off with Merona in Target. Easily the best made 'cheap' clothing brand.Or there is the option to get a classic, well fitting shirt that will still be on your hangar in 5 years.

I'd go with the Kohl's brands...Axis, Apt 9, whatever...if you're talking cheap. About the same price as Merona.I'd tend to agree with this. No, to the 3 buttons.
Yep...that's why it's so discounted....3 buttons are still fine to wear if they're in your closet but if you're purchasing new, always two button, small lapels.
Why?So I guess 4 is even worse?
No, 4 is just fine. Why?So I guess 4 is even worse?
I think they give a discount if you sign up for their emails... or maybe it's just that you'll get a weekly email with their discount specials. prices are really good after the discount, IIRC.doing some damage at tyrwhitt![]()
Wow, thanks a lot Wilked for the http://www.deoveritas.com/ link. That looks great.Tip, don't get Express...
You should consider a custom tailored shirt... I have ordered from two companies
http://www.deoveritas.com/
and
http://biasedcut.com/offers/
As you can see, both have promos right now. Cost will be comparable to Brooks Brothers, but you get a nicer shirt in my opinion, and it is custom fit. If I had to choose one only I like my Deo Veritas slightly more.
Digging that company wilked. Young guy started it up it looks like. Their blog is good too. Recap of owner checking out shirts being made in Hong Kong. http://www.deoveritas.com/blog/deo-veritas...design-process/I always root for companies like this. They're the Footballguys of the world while Brooks Brothers is ESPN.Wow, thanks a lot Wilked for the http://www.deoveritas.com/ link. That looks great.Tip, don't get Express...

Even in the slim cut from Brooks Brothers, they figure a 17 1/2 - 35 guy has a 50 inch waist I think. I'll give this a shot.
Any likes / dislikes with them to know about?

Not necessarily. It depends on the jacket size. If you wear a 40, then yes, a 40L would be better. If you wear a 48, you would probably be fine with a 48R. As with everything, you should try to get a jacket that fits well off the rack and then have it tailored to fit you very well. There are some good videos and websites on how to know if a suit "fits".ETA: Generally speaking a 6' to 6'1" guy should order "long" right?
BTW, I think that suit is terrible. The lapels are too wide and the buttons up too high. It's a cut from about 7 years ago (or more). Two Button Version for $159? agreed...you're better off getting a 50% off suit at Banana or J.Crew. If you care about quality you can't do much better than Black Fleece by Thom Browne. BB was smart to hire him. Great sale. See I'm 6'5" and I think a two button suit would look awful on me.That guys four buttons take up the entire suit, so I would agree, but with someone of my stature it does not.offdee said:Yes, way worse.http://www.macshawmenswear.com/Black%204%2...uit%20-%20L.jpgOrange&Blue said:Why?So I guess 4 is even worse?offdee said:No, to the 3 buttons.urbanhack said:
Uber wrong. A three button suit would look awful on you -- and everyone else -- because it's dated by about a decade.I'm 6'4" and the right two button suit looks fantastic. It has nothing to do with height -- it's all proportional.See I'm 6'5" and I think a two button suit would look awful on me.offdee said:Yes, way worse.http://www.macshawmenswear.com/Black%204%2...uit%20-%20L.jpgOrange&Blue said:Why?So I guess 4 is even worse?offdee said:No, to the 3 buttons.urbanhack said:

JTG, Those are nice, but if you're gonna spend that kind of scratch, just go all out and get some Brunos. My wife probably spent 7 bills on these for me for Christmas, but they're beautiful shoes. I love the color, the leather is awesome, the burnished toe is nice, and I love the classic wingtip with the slightly elongated, modern style. Two giant Otis thumbs up.I'm sure there are plenty out there with leather soles. Good luck."Man-made sole"looking for leather soles.Nothing against Browne but you can get a similar look for a lot less here http://www.zappos.com/product/7737411/color/72JYou should get these instead. Remember brown shoes are so 5 years ago.

SLB> sorry GBPlease return those sneakershoes at once. If wife objects, tell her she's next.
at 6" or 6'1" you don't likely need Long. Get regular. At 6'4" I'm a goon and just barely need long. Not necessarily. It depends on the jacket size. If you wear a 40, then yes, a 40L would be better. For suits, Gilt man is awesome.I picked up two Hilfiger suits off there last week at about $200-$250 a pop. They fit pretty good off the rack, but my tailor worked some magic with the pants and now they are arguably my best fitting, favorite suits. And yet the cheapest?agreed...you're better off getting a 50% off suit at Banana or J.Crew. If you care about quality you can't do much better than Black Fleece by Thom Browne. it's really all about the cut of the suit. i'm 6'4 and know what you mean. it's a fallacy.See I'm 6'5" and I think a two button suit would look awful on me.That guys four buttons take up the entire suit, so I would agree, but with someone of my stature it does not.
