THE FBG Fashion Thread :style: (2 Viewers)

Wearing a tie is out, so that is in. Unfortunately, skinny and wide ties seem to be acceptable today. Bow ties, too. The only thing that seems to be out is wearing a tie that matches the color of your shirt, so that is acceptable. White tie / white shirt, or black tie / black shirt. Wide collars with skinny ties seem to be in, so go with skinny collar / skinny tie, matching the color of the shirt.

I need help completing THIS. :excited:

What kind of pants, shirt shoes? Tie??? Hat for sure (racetrack). All black would be dope, but it's almost getting away from the obnoxiousness. What about some green pants?

White pants white belt...smmooooooooooooooove
Like it, white is tight. These work? I know you'll link a higher priced white pant that isn't Perry Ellis, lol, so be it. They were on sale...Black shirt (like in the pic)? I have some old school, white pleather slip-ons already. That should work, no?

And what color hat will go with all this ####? White with black band maybe?

ZARA MAN NEVER DISAPPOINTSUNQLO essentially a Japanese Gap. Excellent pricing. Excellent fitted cuts.

These two websites are the easiest answers to most questions. Always ahead of the curve. Best of both worlds. Spanish Euro Style plus Japanese Basics.

By the way, basic never goes out of style.
 Big fan of Uniqlo. Their stores are better than the US website. on Zara - cheap crap.

That's my buddies company. He wore a jacket like that yellow big bird pants and a green shirt to our 20 year. Great stuff
Ha, good stuff. Curious how it's doing. Their inventory is not good and they have to do a lot of custom orders (like this one) which takes well over a month.

Green visor.
LOL, I actually have a classic one. It has a see-through green shield and says "NEWFOUNDLAND" (where I got it) on the band. :lmao: Great idea. I can switch it up.

I'm happy to be fashion less after reading some of this thread. I'd have to be paid big bucks to wear most of these atrocities being linked to.

Thats the issue for me living in Los Angeles. UNQLO can only be found in NYC.

$565. :lmao: :lmao:
I think I'm pretty numb to high end pricing, but this... is making me rethink that. I'm sure they're some mean shorts. They better be impeccably made. $565 however. Holy crap. How is that not a joke? Also you guys can sway me (or not) on getting this dress (I'm female, lest that be any point of confusion). I would definetely :style: (getting the hang of this) it differently than pictured...more congruently. LOVE that dress, it's just hard to drop $122.
Dope dress. Can be used in many ways. Follow this chick. She knows what she is doing her name is Rumi Neely And she is hot
I'm familiar with Fashion Toast through being in the polyvore community. Her shoots often inspire sets there. My favorite blogger is Keiko Lynn though, because her range of taste and what suits her look naturally is closer to mine. She can teeter on being a little too schticky at times, but generally she's my girl.
Thanks for the link. Ste-lo. I will track her. Had a friend tell me the same thing a few years back. However, she linked me to a couple tmblrs more appropriate to her style.

Only time I shop at Zara is during their their bi-yearly sale. Grabbing fitted long sleeve button ups at 13.99 or 16.99 and maybe a couple more close to $25.00. I am not complaining. Pants at 12.99 or 19.99 is a great deal. Everything from fitted suits or jackets to. Trick is to wait it out. Every 2/3 weeks they slash the prices. By the time the 3 and 4th slashes come. I start to linger. 2nd trick is to find a zara store out in the cuts with plenty of stock. At times I do question the quality and the regular price.

i was interested in uniqlo when jil sander was doing some of their line.zara didn't used to be this way. about 5-6 years ago they went for the youth, eurotrash market. like somewhere between french connection and club monaco. they've been terrible ever since.

fwiw- Zara was always like that... in Europe. But yeah, ever since that time you mentioned the US stuff has been useless. Too bad- used to be an easy standby for me to pick cheaper stuff up that wasn't going to dissolve in the air the way H&M does.

There used to be a great store called Country Road from an Aussie clothier. they had a store on the UES and one down by South Street Seaport, as I recall. Well designed and well made clothes that were a kind of amalgam of Zara, BR, and Club Monaco. They opened right before 9/11 and closed their US stores a year or two later. I loved their stuff. Bought a lot of things from the Seaport location. Zara, over by Union Square, was a fallback for a time. I tell you the thing about cheaply made clothes is not just the durability of them but also the fit. H & M and Zara just don't fit well. Zara, for the price, is especially disappointing in that regard.

Yep...in NYC, you have so many options - there's really no excuse for men to shop at Zara unless you're lazy, have no clue or just don't care.

or Century 21.

Century 21 is generally the correct answer when in NYC. The Barney's sales always sound like a good idea but rarely ever worked for me. They were always good discounts but still largely out of my budget.

I don't really mess with Century 21 - too much stuff and not enough quality for me. Great for socks and underwear though. I'm on email lists for Varvatos, J.Lind, Paul Smith, Rogan etc so when they're selling their stuff at 75% off or more (generally at season's end), I'll stop in.

Online shopping, especially those sites with grand return policies like Zappos, sort of negate any advantage most B & m stores like C21 have these days.

There are 2 reasons not to go to Century 21:

- Don't have the energy to sort through the stuff

- As the fashion designer wife likes to say... there's a reason stuff ends up there. Ill-fitting/constructed/designed/whatever.

That said... every single piece of clothing I have on my body right now was purchased there- down to my undergarments (magic).

Considering I am newb to the thread. New discussion to me. Thanks for your opinions. Zara not talking quality. Fits my shape well. Where else can I find easy access to essentially custom long sleeve button ups with pleats along left center right center of my back? Nowhere. Cuffs do tend to suck. And at times the collar is tight. But the trade off for cut, shoulder length, arm length and back pleatsYes, shopping at the mall isn't edgy. But does have a function in my life. And a lesser of 3 evils(zara, H&M and Century 21) here in Los Angeles. HM and Century 21 shirts(not accounting for quality) do not fit my body well. So I don't buy from there. If it did. I would. Expensive vs cheap. Name brand vs name brand doesn't sway my decisions heavily. If it fits well. If it looks good. I will buy it. My closet has no prejudice. $200 dress shirts hang next to $15 zara shirts $5 thrift store shirts. $300 suits hang next to $2000 suits. They all go to the same drycleaner. However, I do not buy cheap shoes. Usually not good for you feet. Zara shoes can look good. But they are 1000% terribly uncomfortable. Whats your opinion on Top Man?

Different for those guys who have never worn suit in their life. They see this. Now wear this for the sole purpose of tucking. We have all done this(while eating). And occasionally forget to untuck it. Form & Function lead to fashion. Remember when rolling up one of your pant legs was cool. Was it because prisoners wore shackles on their ankles. Or for those people with house arrest monitors on their ankle. Also cyclists didn't want to get their pants caught in the sprocket and chain. Or to prevent grease from staining their pants. However, the super arm pit roll up sleeve is interesting. Now I just need to go out and get my arms tatted up.

Top Shop- I remember liking it when travelling... whenever I've gone into the newish shop here in NYC, it makes me feel old and annoyed. Styles are far too trendy/young for my liking- as are the fits.Is there a Century 21 in LA? Thought it was only NYC area. And no way they have their own label... I'm thinking you mean Forever 21?And re: Zara... I've not had a problem with quality: stitching, fabrics and colors hold well, IME. My problem has been that the styles available in US shops- me no likey for the last 6 or 7 years.

I remember rolling the tie up and tucking it in my shirt pocket- but only when doing work that required it (architect, so- model-making or hand-drafting).

Sorry my man, not really my :style: here. But if you held a gun to my head and forced me to wear that jacket, everything else on my body would be black. For what you're going for here to be loud...white pants and shoes with black shirt and black hat are probably the direction you want to go.

ETA: please tell me you didn't pay $350 for that jacket.

So I made the transition from crew neck to v-neck t-shirts a year or so ago. One of the best decisions ever. However, I am not sure what to do when I am wearing polo shirts casually in the summer. It seems the necks are too open and you can see part of the v-neck, which looks horrible. However, I feel like the front can open up too much for me not to wear a t-shirt.What should I do?
Don't wear a shirt. Own it.

Dude, this is racetrack shtick and that thing is perfect for it. It's one big party and there will be people wearing #### way worse than this. $350 sucks but what else am I gonna do? No way anybody else makes that eyesore.Okay, so are those crappy white pants I linked good enough? Is there a certain material I should look to get (summer/beach)? And do you know any good sites/deals on hats?
