The Five Toughest Receivers I Ever Covered , by Chris Harris Jr. (2 Viewers)

We need more articles like this. Insight and breakdown of current players, by other current players. Fun read.
Not all CBs/LBs are eloquent enough to write something like this though. They may be football smart and maybe even book smart in certain fields, but they can't write a cogent essay to save their lives. Many of the brightest engineers are terrible writers.

I bet Sherman could write a great analysis of the NFC receivers though. He definitely has the writing acumen.

ETA: For example, Harris definitely knows how to write. That opening salvo is a great 'hook' to draw reader interest. Plus he's keenly aware of his audience and tailors his language to the Everyday Joe rather than someone with in-depth football knowledge. That reference to Madden is a great example of this. The dude knows how to write.

Interesting a common theme with high powered offenses (NE, PIT, IND) is the ability to disguise their tendencies. Contrasted with Carolina, where he writes that as soon as he saw Cam move the RB from the R to the L side he knew exactly which play was coming next in that formation / down & distance.

Really good find, flysack.

Great stuff but the ranking is misleading.  The article reads like the guys above are in no particular order...although he did say Gronk comes to mind first.

It's also guys he has faced, thus the exclusive AFC slant. But great read nonetheless.

Beautiful article.

Against most NFL teams, when a play breaks down and a quarterback is scrambling, that’s a win for your defense. But when you’re playing the Steelers, Brown and Roethlisberger have such good chemistry that those extended plays become a real problem to defend.
I heard TSizzle say something along the same lines like 5 or 6 years ago. The worst/best QB to play was Big Ben. Because he was the only QB that when you/the defense "won" in all the ways you want-to on a play, that Ben could just beat you anyway. And it also caused a taxing emotional and mental hit for an entire defense.

They have a similar article for the NBA on Paul Pierce on the best players that he guarded and my first thought was "Paul Pierce played defense?"

Like Hot Sauce Guy, I think my day has been ruined as I'm stuck on this site.

Okay, I'm going to need him to do a top 10.
I'd love to see his five easiest to defend as well from Harris.  Won't happen, but would be pretty cool.

Just read all of the Richard Sherman content. Good stuff.

Also, that is one well built website - even the search feature is slick. I love how the top menu bar flips while scrollong on a desktop.  Slick.

So is demaryius Thomas not on the list because he is his teammate or because he runs bubble screens every other play?

I love this list. It seems strange that Julio isn't on it (maybe TY or Nuk lose their spot) but I wish there was more intelligent and interesting content from current players. People get mad at Sherman and Bennett for speaking their minds but I love it.

I was expecting OBJ to be on a list like this but he does mention his name.

Tex
Harris has never faced him.

Harris best CB in the league btw

The Broncos have not played the Giants since OBJ came into the league.

Anyway, that was a great read. You can tell Harris has a lot of respect for the talent the guys he covers have.
