The herd has thinned, kinda sad (1 Viewer)

I see a lot less excitement over who to start or who to pickup. Most people are pretty sure what they are starting from here on out. I have seen some good people stop posting on this board. I miss them. I miss the excitement of talking about picking up the WW pickup of the year, whether it was Manningham, or MSW, or Miles Austin.

I suppose a lot of folks are done for the year, and they are moving on to another hobby. That's kinda sad. I feel bad for them. I know how they feel. I wish they could have done better or have been as lucky as I have been. 11-2, #1 seed wrapped up. It is not always this way. I read the threads relating to season ending vents, and I feel bad for these folks. You can tell it gets them down. Again, I know how they feel.

It's been a fun FF year, but it all ends for all of us, well most of us in just 3 weeks. Well, I will enjoy it while I can. Good luck to all of you in the playoffs. And those that didn't, better luck next year. Don't be a stranger.

This is my melancholy vent.

I agree it is sad to see the season coming to an end and like you I am 11 and 2 and also locked up 1st seed. This is the first year that I have used the site and have to say I will probably be a lifer from here on out. I can't tell you how many pickups I made this year based on the site and other members getting the info out. I would like to say thank you to all that post topics and help your fellow members out because of you a lot of us are still in it. If u didn't make it good luck in the future.

Again thank you for your tips and tricks.

It is kinda sad. With that being said, I'm almost relieved the season is over. As much as I love it, Sundays are almost too intense for me. I do thank everyone here for sharing their expertise on the forums. I've benefitted greatly from your insight.

And for some of us the best part is almost ready to begin. Ever hear of the afterparty? Winter Leagues will kick off in Jan/Feb iirc...lots of great poster seem to show up in the off season, awesome threads are created, and yeah the multitudes leave but the hardocre fans stick around and a lot of fun ensues.

Also might enjoy the FFA...that place really gets crankin come Jan/Feb...not everyone's cup o tea but a great place to engage in political, religious, educational, and tuna threads.

One and done.

No trades.

Jerome Harrison the best WW RB available.

All thats left is some tissues. :lmao:

I just snuck into the playoffs so I'm like Woohoo!

I don't hate you more than anything in the world. You're a bit higher than nuclear waste and poverty.j/k. :lmao: I like cats.

I actually like it better here when all the redraft players leave. No offense to them, but I just can't get into redraft discussion - it's just sooo different ("I'm thinking of getting Moreno off waivers... what do you guys think?")Another vote for the FFA - one of the best forums on the internet.

No offense taken, I am a redraft player, and my hobby is a borderline addiction. If I allowed myself to go off the deep end and do this year round, I am pretty sure my wife would leave me. Gotta have some balance. The layoff from FF makes the anticipation for next season that much greater.

I like cats, too. The username's namesake was recently put to sleep. So, my username is now a memorial. Sucks.
Off topic, but screw it. A cat I loved for 12 years, full of personality, had to be put down a few years ago and it hurt so damn much. I'm really sorry, man. I feel for you.

 +1After week 13 I actually enjoy the Pool more. Feb/March is the cat's meow around here for dynasty leaguers, when there is a lot less piss floating in the Pool, and even redrafters can get a leg up on potential breakout guys during the slow winter/spring months. I try to keep posting here in season, but I really don't enjoy the forum nearly as much as I do pre and post-draft.

It IS a sickness :goodposting:

It definetly seems more quiet.

I can thank this message board for opening my eyes to Aaron Rodgers and Percy Harvin.... Championship!! :lmao:

being dynasty oriented I think the season just changes gears a little after the FFL playoffs are over. it then becomes time I focus more on watching the college games and players for the NFL draft.

after the NFL season ends all the coaching changes start to happen and bears watching.

I do fear the circumstances around the bargaining agreement issue will make this off season FA player movement almost non-existent.

I kind of consider FA starting and the draft the start of the "new" FFL season and it all starts over again.

thanks to all the posters that bring interesting thoughts and opinions year round, and especially the other dynasty types.

actually, whats sadder, if not the saddest, is people lingering on a FF forum all year long. No offense to the regulars, but nothing sad about moving on from a forum like this once you're done with FF for the year. Sure there's keeper leagues and dynasty leagues and all that, but they don't require quite the attention many people give them TBH...

Not even close. The saddest thing would be a mentally challenged man crying while promising a broken egg that it will still be a chicken someday and they'll play together in a field when it gets better.

Don't flatter yourself. I doubt more than a fraction of a % of people here give any other posters even a second thought after they log off for the day.

the team i took over is so bad it didnt matter who i started lol but somehow a win here and i make the playoffs....

FFA is awesome but can be oh so timeconsuming. As real life is claiming more of my focus I've been forced to choose between FF and FFA.Given that I'm in a league that each year starts up the day after Super Bowl, there was unfortunately only one choice.

Would that I one day have the time to go back (without that bringing financial ruin obviously).

Where's that bad posting smiley when you need it

Did you have to include your record and seed #?
;) :D :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: every other post is like this --- this board is hilarious.
What difference does it make if he post his record and playoff position? Jeez....the guy is proud of his team, let him have his moment. Not hard to tell who had a good season and who's teams sucked based on some of these post.
Those comments derive from the long standing premise that no one cares about your fantasy football team. Even on a message board dedicated to fantasy football, no one cares about your team, they only care about their team.

I know where it came from, but I don't have to agree with it. It's rather childish and extremely selfish. I don't want to read an entire paragraph about someone's team, but the OP tossing that in seems pretty harmless to me. I guess I'm cut from a different cloth.

I dunno, I really want to see his roster.Wish it was in his sig :lmao:

Only if he includes his scoring system.

That IS sad... :goodposting: :lmao: Seriously though, there's a whole big world out there beyond FF and World of Warcraft, people should definitely check it out. Life is too short to obsess over anything, let alone fantasy football...

Did not read entire thread, but I much prefer the thinned out herd of the off season.

Player YTD Pts Bye

Brees, Drew NOS QB 287.14 5

Bell, Mike NOS RB (Q) 84.20 5

Brown, Chris HOU RB 54.30 10

Jacobs, Brandon NYG RB 127.50 10

Akers, David PHI PK 111.00 4

Broncos, Denver DEN Def 173.39 7

Eagles, Philadelphia PHI Def 177.03 4

Saints, New Orleans NOS Def

Only 4 of my original drafted players exist on my roster. Those are Hines Ward, Drew Brees, Antonio Gates, and Philadelphia DST. All others aquired in trades and WW pickups. I have flipped my team over many times.

My scoring system is PPR for WR's, .5 PPR for RBs, 6 points per TD, 1 pt for every 10 yards rushing/receiving, 5 points per TD for QBs, 1 pt for every 25 yards passing.

I go thru major withdrawals when it ends and pathetically look at my league page months after it's over. Fortunately I am still in it with a bye this week.

What is really sad is the other guys in his league who must be looking at his roster thinking "how in the hell is he in first place?"

I do and I don't. The bad thing about the thinned out version, it means the NFL season is either wrapping up or is over, and to me that's never a good thing. I don't mind all the different people on here. With that said, there are some quality NFL discussions that take place in the offseason, things that are brought up and analyzed in depth that could never get done during the regular season.
