SIMS OUT FOR THE YEARPosted by Mike Florio on September 10, 2008, 10:50 a.m.On Tuesday, KJR radio reported that Seahawks guard Rob Sims has a torn pectoral muscle, which could end his season. We’ve confirmed via a league source that, indeed, Sims is done for the year with a torn pec.The injury occurred during Sunday’s 34-10 drubbing at Buffalo. The team declined to confirm or deny the report on Tuesday.Floyd Womack will replace Sims in the starting lineup. With a receiving corps that has been decimated by injuries, a quarterback with a bulging disk in his back, and a running game that still hasn’t recovered from the departure of Steve Hutchinson, coach Mike Holmgren might be thinking about accelerating his retirement date.
Seattle 2008 = St. Louis 2007

This hurts Julius Jones' value as much as no one for Sea to throw to! I am now very hesitant to start him as my RB #3

I thought Hasselbeck might be worth something this year.
I've been toying with trading for him. I QB sitch is dire. Not sure, now.
First let's keep in mind some MEDIA source is SPECULATING. That's all.Still, I'm toying with cutting him even though just my backup. And it's not like Romo or Brees is exactly sitting on the WW. Granted Engram will be back in a few weeks, but.......

I thought Womack was a decent OL though-? Anyone confirm/deny?

He's pretty decent - he's gotten plenty of starts in the past because of injury - so while this will hurt - it won't be a huge drop off. I still think the O-line will be pretty solid this year. I wouldn't be making any decisions based purely on Simms' injury but rather the overall injury situation of the Seattle skill players - even Hass will be struggling with a bulging disk all year. I would hold onto Hasselback or target him for cheap - they have a BYE in week 4 I think, and after the BYE they SHOULD have Branch, Engram, Morris all healthy and MAYBE they can get clicking. I think it's asking to much for anything before the BYE.

Thx,. PS from what I gather the "bulging disk" sounds a lot uglier/riskier than it really is. Anyone know more on this?

I was able to snag him as a backup and thought he was an absolute steal. Ever since then it's been nothing but bad news after bad news....

reportedly his only treatment to date has been an epidural. So it must have been bothering him, but apparently it responded well to the treatment.

Yeah I am thinking the back isn't such a hot issue. It's really a fence-rider to keep or ditch IMO. He's a quality enough guy he will not be a disaster most weeks, esp when people start returning from injury issues, but I wouldn't want to start him very often.
