The "I started Kirk Cousins vs the Giants" support group (1 Viewer)

I figured last night would have been a shoot out. At least with the Redskins putting up a good amount of points...so I rolled with Niles Paul AND Garcon. With Bye-weeks, I feel this week is gonna sting. :topcat:

The definition of chasing points
Not really.
Actually it is text book. An average player who had a career week the game before so everyone jumps on and expects him to do it again. Read the thread. People benched Cutler, who has been great this week. People benched Romo and he has a great match up this weekend.
I'll respond since I benched Cutler. I didn't consider Cousins performance from last week a guarantee he was getting 400+ and multiple TDs this week. He did have some good FF performances at the end of the year last year too so it's not like we only had one game to look at. Cousins had the better match-up going into the game than Cutler. GB shut down Stafford @ DET last week. I also have Forte and wanted to diversify my lineup this week because my opponent isn't very good - and CHI might lean on Forte because GB hasn't been good against the run. All the projections I saw before the game had Cousins and Cutler very close. The home teams in Thursday night games have been dominant so far this year. Given all this, I decided to go with Cousins in what I thought was a close call. So yeah, that's not really chasing points.

In hindsight, it was wrong obviously. But who saw the 5 turnovers by Cousins coming? That's what really killed his performance in my scoring system. 250, 1 TD and 1 INT would have been good enough for me given all the stuff I mentioned above. Instead we got this #### punch performance.

:pokey:
I'd love to know what kind of punch "####" is...

I started him over Geno Smith in a two qb league. Don't feel bad about I either...everyone would have done the same thing. ##### happens. Did hurt that it is a -3 for int league. He got me a solid 3.3.

i used my league manager powers to cut him from my team tonight so i wouldnt have to wait until Tuesday... 5.5 points... oh and my opp. had larry donnell... f me
Now isn't that abuse of power? You should be forced to stare at his boxscore in your lineup until Tuesday like any other owner...take the mental cruelty like the rest of the league!

Yeah, if I saw a person do that in any league I am in, I would not be back. Shady move.

please... explain how it is shady? I'm not going to fill the roster spot with someone else, i have to live with his 5.5 points.... i guess some people cant laugh about anything

He looked great in the first half. A couple of missed opportunities, and the strip/fumble in the redzone after the catch was a killer. He was on his way to 300+ yards (big in our league) and at least 2 TD's. And then he turned into Rex Grossman 2.0 in the 2nd half. It's like he never saw a Giants jersey - just stared at his receiver. Horrible decisions. Concerning.

Guy in my league started Cousins over Rodgers this week, lol.

Since I have Brady I sent him a trade offer for Rodgers a few days ago when I saw he was starting Cousins.

Something tells me he won't be accepting the offer now....

The league where I started him is just a total disaster. AP, Martin, Marshall, VJax. Those are my top guys from the draft. And Romo. AP actually fell to me at 1.09, just to get an idea of the competition... My team was way better than the others coming out of the draft. So frustrating. It's amazing that I'm even 1-2, but it's looking like I'm gonna go 1-3

Started Cousins over Romo in two leagues. In one of those leagues, I also started Garcon and DJax. Essentially lost my matchup before Sunday.

It was the Giants, on a short week.... on primetime. Kid never had a chance, especially with that gameplan.

And dammit if the Giants appear to have reinvented themselves and are starting to click.
A guy who dislikes Griffin making excuses for Cousins; not surprising. Dislike of Griffin doesn't mean Cousins is any good.

The "kid" is older than Griffin. He's had a chance every game he played.

Newsflash: fantasy football doesn't always go as planned. Suck it up.
Part of this board is the communal disappointment.
Good point. We should probably have a catch-all thread where people can vent.

Maybe it could even be pinned!

Being a consistently good QB in the NFL is VERY hard. Cousins has looked very good at times......Last night he looked TURRIBLE.

Is it an outlier? Or will he be inconsistent? I dunno, but he's got some pretty good offensive weapons. And its not like the NFC East has juggeraut D's.

Definitely flirted with starting him over Kaepernick in a two QB league. If Cousins wasn't playing on a Thursday night it might've been a closer call. Thursday is my default tiebreaker against starting anyone if I'm on the fence.

I'm screwed up the Thursday thing. I need to pay more attention it.

My opponent started him over Ben Roethlisberger, at home, vs Tampa Bay

Good thing I benched Brady and started Eli.

It is early, people who started Cousins learned he is not cut out to be started on fantasy teams. Too risky since we have seen when it rains it will pour for him. Better to learn now then later, shake it off, dont play this bum again and appreciate the Bradys and Elis of the world. I was doubting Eli earlier in another thread, I think he may actually be a good play on more then a few weeks. Eli sure look like he had command of that offense, maybe this system is good for him. Eli has the Cowboys twice, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Philly and Washington again. Ten, Wash and St. Louis in the playoffs. Brady may not light it up, but his one or two TDs and few turnovers has proven its worth after that debacle from Cousins. Cousins single handily gave many people a loss this week, that is the definition of a unrosterable player.

Appreciate the Bradys?

I don't know about your leagues, but in my leagues (pretty standard scoring) Brady scored all of ~1 point more in weeks 1 and 2 than Cousins scored last night. And ~3 points more last week than Cousins did last night.

Might as well start Cousins over Brady just in case he actually gets a second TD in there somewhere, he'll outscore Tom

You will also have a better shot at 5 turnovers than Brady ever will. -10 or in some leagues -15. Cousins threw the same amount of INTs last night that Brady had in one year. Brady does not turn the ball over, and after watching last night that is a value that gores under appreciated.

Not at all? Why would you think that thought is shtick? I started Cousins in one league this week and have Brady as a back up in that league. (Should of taken a QB earlier) and the above is how I came a way feeling. Cousins had me wishing I started Eli, something people who owned Cousins coming into this week would never of thought before hand.
