Heard wind/rain may be a factor affecting NYJ/Buff, NE/Tenn, & KC/Wash. Any info on these conditions or other games that may be of concern?

Hmm - maybe I should be thinking a lot more about starting Sammy Morris. Sounds like a lot of running plays in this game.

Channel 7 news Boston is saying temp in 40's, washout, and increasing winds into the afternoon gusting to 50 mph.

If accurate, this should screw with the passing game considerably.

Looks like the Pats, Jets and Skins' games will be played in the rain.
Do you downgrade the passing for Brady and Moss?
Titans secondary is decimated. Starting 2 rookie cbs.
So? The question is about whether this downgrades Brady and Moss. The fact that the Titans suck at pass defense this year was accounted for when FBGs did their rankings/projections (you'd have to believe). The weather is a new element, and IMO, it most definitely downgrades Brady and Moss. If the weather is as bad as is being predicted, it's going to be hard for Brady to hit any long passes to Moss (not that they've been that common this year). Furthermore, the weather will allow Tennessee to pay less attention to longer pass plays (not ignore, but maybe they won't have to roll double coverage to the posts, corner, and fly routes), and allow them to focus more on the intermediate and shorter passes.

NE - The wind will be around 21 mph, with higher gusts. Yeah we've gotten a lot of rain this week, but more like soaking, not downpours.

As NoCheese said, 'Rain is one thing, wind is entirely different'.

Wet balls are not a big deal; everyone adjusts to weight once the balls have been in play. They're really only slippery when it first starts raining, before the water has been absorbed.

15 mph wind or less, most QBs can still control the ball flight. Above 15 and certainly over 20, its more of a crap shoot.

Steady wind is an easier adjustment; gusting winds mess up everyone (skill players and kickers).

NY and NE are late starts and the weather looks to get better as the day goes on, i wouldnt go overboard benching Brady/Moss/Welker/Bedwards for clearly lesser options.

Seems like we have these threads every year, and it becomes an overanalysis exercise. Unless the weather resembles hurricane/tornado conditions, don't overthink it - just play your best players.

Kickers may be a different story, however.

Sigmund, where did you hear that the weather looks to get better? After 4pm, weather.com shows that the rain will drop from 100% to 60-70%, so that's not really much of an improvement. The winds are supposed to still be around the 21-22 mph range.

Says the guy in Texas...I don't know where you got your info from, but you are factually incorrect. It will not be improving in the next six hours according to local forecasts.

Pouring rain here in SE Mass.

I'm starting Welker. Was listening to talk radio and old pat Christian Fauria talking about how the pats never changed their gameplan due to weather conditions. That said, I think it will hurt Moss a bit. I'm thinking Welker could actually benefit -- NE will want to exploit the TN secondary but maybe they do so at less risk with Welker on shorter routes. It's not like they're going to run against TN that well. They'll still throw.

Thats exactly where I saw it, weather.com, chances of rain going down as the day goes on - against TEN secondary only takes one or two quarters of decent weather.

Rain stopped a few hours ago around DC. Wind is not bad. The field was covered during all the rain. Playing conditions should not be bad.

But that's not really "better," it's just "less bad." 70% chance of rain is still a good chance, and the field is already going to be sloppy, balls will still be wet. Plus, wind is not going to die out. So virtually all of the same negative conditions will still be involved.

What kind of impact should this weather have on the NE RB's? Does anyone think NE leans more towards shorter routes, which means Faulk gets an expanded role?

I saw on NFL Network that Seattle is expected to get showers during their game I believe.
Yes. Shouldn't be a problem. High winds and heavy rain came through last night. Lost DirecTV signal 3 times yesterday. Today it is calm and cloudy.Should be good conditions for the game.

I've found that weather.com is not very accurate. I use the local National Weather Service. Here is a detailed account of today's weather for Foxboro:http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?C...tType=graphical

Winds will be around 25 mph, rain amounts of about 1/2 inch during the game.
