Quick question on a new issue to me:2005 Wrangler Unlimited near 80k milesTonight as I am driving into my apartment parking lot I hear a gnarly grinding/squeal from the Jeep's rear end. Sounded sort of on the passenger side, but I can't be 100% on that. It did not sound like a brake caliper stuck and I could not smell anything noticeable from anywhere when I got out. Belts under the hood looked good. Yes, I know that is the front-end, but I have terrible hearing when it comes to direction of source and hearing in general.I had to do some work and it is now dark, so I could not do too much more of a diagnosis.I can say that the sound does not occur while idling and it did not occur when I left the work parking lot (car/gears were cool). I want to say that it occurred when I down shifted and slowed down.Tomorrow I am planning on driving around the parking lot a bit while it is cool to see if the same sound is there. If it is there while cold any ideas? My searches through Google and various Jeep forums leads me to believe it is most likely in need of a deferential fluid change. I had one done at a Jeep shop maybe 10k miles ago. Yeah, I could do it myself, but no garage available all the time for me to borrow. Apparently the sound would be worse when the car/gears are hot.Does this sound right or does anyone have any other ideas? Should I go to the Jeep shop now to avoid serious $$?I know it could be any # of things and this is not a lot of info to go off of. TIA.
