1) ) Nice setup. I would find out which 4" lift it is. THere is a difference. Find out what components the lift included. at 4" you're going to want to get adjustable lower control arms (to restore the wheelbase), and adjustable upper control arms (to set caster on the front axle and the pinion angle in the rear). Also at that height you should have a CV rear driveshaft with a Slip Yoke elimnator.... ESPECIALLY with a Tummy Tuck. What you're looking for is a double cardan rear driveshaft that should have two U-joints up near the TCase output. To simplify it should look like this and not like this. This SYE/CV setup should eliminate driveline vibrations. If you feel some vibes when it's taking off then you might be missing this. It's about $500 in parts and a 4 hour install if you need it.Hey [icon]...
I test drove a '01 Wrangler today. Among a bunch of other after market parts, it has about a 4" suspension lift, brand new 33X12.50 mudders, Dana 44 rear, tummy tuck, all professionally installed. When I'm accelerating and going through the gears, the Jeep tends to lunge toward the right when I push in the clutch. Nothing out of control or violent, but definitely noticeable. Any idea what's up with that?

Driver Error... that and sheer stupidity for not having rocker guards on for this run.
It has the adjustable control arms and the SYE/CV setup. I'm not sure how it's geared, but I'm going to find out. I have no idea as to the brand of lift kit. I was wondering if this kind of thing was common to lifted Jeeps or a potential problem. I wish I could have checked the wear on the old tires before they were replaced.They are asking $13,500. Full doors with a soft top, Rhino Lined floor, 4.0L (93K miles) with 5-speed, quick disconnect sway bar, steering box skid plate, drop pitman arm, oversized tire carrier that mounts to a bumper that doubles as a pressurized air can (never saw that before!), K/N air intake, but oddly enough... no oil pan skid plate. I sometimes go with about 2 - 4 other jeeps, but I was the only one with a winch. It operated off the PTO on the Willys. Most often I go it alone, though. There are a lot of great trails around here, but most of them aren't legally open to me, so I have to sneak in and out. That's a lot easier when you're alone.The front bumper is a powder coated peice of channel iron with a couple of rubber stops. Since I bought it I put the new black top on that is in the pictures. I also added 35X12.50X15 Goodyear MTR's and some Jeeperman rock sliders. I got a smoking deal on the top. I bought it from a rich lady who sold her Mercedes CLK to buy a friggin Rubicon. She drove the jeep home from the dealership and decided she didnt like the soft top so she went back to the dealership and bought a two piece targa hard top. She told me she never plans to take it off road she just wanted the "nice one." I wanted to punch her in the face. Her Jeep had the rubicon express lift on it and some nice 33's. I ended up getting the soft top with the tinted windows, factory frame and all the hard ware for $400.I ended up selling my CJ-7 and buying a 2000 TJ. Couldnt pass up the deal.

Honestly the HIgh Pinion Dana 30 adds about 30% in strength. That coupled with hte fact that a regular D30 can run 35s with no problem means I'm now set to run my target tire (35s) with NO problem whatsoever and should be able to run up to 37s if I ever get so inclined (might go for a low COG flatfendered trail-rig 4-5 years down the road).... espeically with alloy shafts. I'll be adding an OX Selectable locker in the 8.8 this summer as well to accompany the Aussie up fronti have a rubi geared low and it doesnt pull. not sure why that would make it pull.Icon, why not get the D44 up front now. you know your gonna want it later.

That's a well set up rig ya got there. You're gonna love the way the TJs handle on hte trail over hte CJs (or was your CJ Sprung over?). Either way a comparably built TJ is definitely a superior trail rig IMHO.It's the 3rd annual Jeep Expo in Hammond on June 8th through 10th I believe. We have a few guys from our club heading down including a libby (KJ) on 33s and beadlocks. Runs pretty well.ICON: Where in Louisisana are oyu going. Cajun Jeep Jamboree is coming up is that it?
Pretty sure it doesn't considering how smooth it takes tight turns. I'm guessing that under acceleration, the rear axle is torqueing slightly to the right, and when I push in the clutch, it's settling back into the proper alignment. I agree. Unfortunately, they are no where close to where I live. Around here, nobody has to settle for book value when they sell their Jeep. I also like buying from this dealer because he has a good reputation. My BIL bought a car from him. When the fuel pump broke 3 days after the sale, this dealer replaced it free of charge. The other thing is, when I add up what a stock Jeep would cost, add in the cost of all the after market stuff and what it would cost to install it, it doesn't seem that far off. I guess I could get some friends to lend me their equipment and hands to install that kind of stuff myself, but then I'd owe them a return favor, and that hasn't worked out well for me in the past. Flying V: Seems a bit high for that TJ, although it sounds like much of the cost is already taken care of in aftermarket parts. Go check out other jeep sites for the rigs in their classifieds to get a good indicator of the pricing. I am looking at a 99 Sahara with under 30K miles on it, Long Arm, Armor, Rear 44, Hardtop, Winch, Tummy tuck, Brand New 35's, for under 10K........
There are better deals out there.

Around here you're looking at $10-12k for a 1999-2001 model with $100K.. and that's for a basic rig with maybe a crappy 3" body lift and some worn out 33s or something. Definitley look into the rig. It's possible it could have the rear swwaybar disconnected as well... if it feels like the rear is torquing more than usual. That said, I'm not sure why they would have pulled it if they were never taking it offroad. I leave mine in (you always want to leave the rear in) and I take mine some pretty crazy places that require significant flex.Keep us posted on the negotiations.... got me curious how this goes![]()

Of course I have heard of the Rubicon model. I have been driving jeeps for over ten years now. The stock Rubicon is a badass rig, you will never hear an argument out of me about that. I am just saying, the Land Rover Defender is by far the most capable trail rig ever built, granted, it is the price of three Rubicons. The Rubicon isnt exactly a "stock jeep" either. It is the ULTIMATE option package, but comparing the stock Jeep sport to a lot of other vehicles makes the Jeep look bad. They are extremely upgradeable but the dana 30/dana 35 combo is junk. The main thing I like about the defender is the optional engines including a diesel motor. You familiar with the Rubicon model?Dual Selectable Lockers, Solid Axles, Disconnectable sway bar, 4:1 Transfer Case : 31" MT Tires. 4:11 gears, class leading approach, departure, and breakover angles. capable of running water almost up to the hood thanks to high-vented Tcase, Diffs, & Tranny. Curious what the land rover model you're talking about was spec'd out as off hte factory floor?I am a jeep guy through and through but a stock Jeep versus a stock land rover is no comparison. The Land Rover is a far more capable vehicle. In my opinion, the land rover with the tire on the hood (not sure the model name) is the baddest 4x4 ever made.

Right on.. I like the Defender.. don't get me wrong.Of course I have heard of the Rubicon model. I have been driving jeeps for over ten years now. The stock Rubicon is a badass rig, you will never hear an argument out of me about that. I am just saying, the Land Rover Defender is by far the most capable trail rig ever built, granted, it is the price of three Rubicons. The Rubicon isnt exactly a "stock jeep" either.
