The mind of a drug addict (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
As promised I will give an example of an artists mind under the influence of narcotics. I understand my prose is sloppy. I have not written an academically geared essay in 15 years. This will be an example of how I am accustomed to writing.

This was written roughly 18 months ago under heavy opiate sedation as well as alcohol and the downswing of a crack high. I have beared my soul to you and I now leave you with this final peek in to my madness.

I hope it completes the puzzle.

This poem is dedicated to Philip Seymour Hoffman

In hollow musty edifice

Where tiny voices mute

Essense of the children spill

And chokes on poison root

Sentence the flesh to mock justice

The black magician seeking

A vessel of the purest blood

Victim for indulgent reaping

Breath echoes from little lungs

They are the lords, the hounds of god

As brittle rib and spine convulse

The kings approve, the lords applaud

Clouds sing down to go on

The babe is ripe to recieve her

With femenine wisdoms spiteful spells

The seeds of darkness stir

For this immaculate visage

Awaits a shallow bitter fate

Enthralled in fledgling age

Bearing the pledge of an ancient hate

The ripper strokes his prey

Incantations from a dusty tome

The innocent in throes of pain

Crying for its home

The blade is dull, its ancient name

Muttered in gratitude

Virgin slaves bring offerings

Capering in the nude

Splitting skin and prodding gut

Gibes atrocious egress

For the fractured blighted ones

Will accept no gift of less

Vital fluids sipped in prayer

Agony incites a roar

As the rays entwine the infant

Butchers revere the gore

For this immaculate visage

Awaits a shallow bitter fate

Enthralled in fledgling age

Bearing the pledge of an ancient hate

Potent ravages of a minute frame

Where within the stars are shining

Carnage of wrathful eidolon

In to the heart undying

Coffer hovers in calamity

Power raging through its bones

Merging grace and shade deformed

Expulsing glory upon the stones

Among indebted congregation

Virulent eyes go white

Nostrils assaulted by insense

The radiance pilfers sight

As consumptive shakes lie calm

Loathsome serenade goes silent

The murky vile stand aside

To welcome empress of the violent

I ate a whole bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos and hulleuva good buffalo wing dip when I was super stoned on weed.

If you want to get the girls,

the ones which are hot and dirty,

you need to quit writing whiny poems.

For ####'s sake man you're thirty!

I don't have too much problem with the slant rhyme, but your meter is all over the place. Take no half measures. If you want to go without meter, go full Bukowski. If you want rhyme and rhythm, pick a consistent one.

The meter isnt off. Im a master of syllables. This song fits perfectly with the instrumentals. You will be able to hear the recording soon

Then it's a song, and not a poem. That's different. Good luck.

I've decided I have no problem with you using that title, but I want your album liner notes to thank Henry Ford. It'll be a weird bit of trivia for your album.

There is really no difference between them

You can make any syllables fit by extending or speeding up certain notes. Music is a math game. Trust me this fits the timings perfectly

Oh, but there usually is. With the exception of bands like Counting Crows and Iron and Wine. And maybe the occasional song like Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand.

I am currently writing flagellating onanist. You will get credit
No, not me. Actual Henry Ford. Make up something about "any color you want, as long as it's black."
I will give credit to henry ford 2.0
You're missing out on a tremendous opportunity to create mystery and have people think you're deep and interesting.

What would be the difference?

I dont need a liner note for that. I am the most misunderstood musician in the local scene. Somewhat of a legend

The underground NYC black/death metal scene

The meter of the written words, often.Performance of a poem should add to the artistry, but should never be used to cover up inadequacies of the verse in written form.

you don't see too many african americans doing death metal.

good on you, man.

I am deep btw. Interesting is subjective. I know my audience though
I'm telling you, the concept of thanking the popularizer of the assembly line while using distorted and mechanized sound to further dehumanize the musical experience is gold.

Im not covering up anything. This song is specifically tailored to describe a story and fit the instrumental

You posted. It invites commentary. I think it's fine and all that, but it could be better with a touch of editing now that you are sober.

This is a more accurate description

We dont use any electronic sounds
Acoustic Death Metal?
My band is black/thrash. Very light deathmetal influence. We are currently working on an acoustic but flagellating onanist wouldnt work for it

I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that you are a Hyper-Rational personality type. You like math, are misunderstood , and have strong view of self.

That's kind of my point. The fact that there's an amplifier, cords, speakers, and all kinds of other stuff between the music and the listener effectively creates a barrier of artificiality between the music and the audience. Much like the assembly line separated the worker from the actual product. You're just a part of the finished product.

No one wants to hear Flagellating Onanist Unplugged.

Im an INFP. I dont like math per se but im good at it, especially in musical form. I can break it down instinctually. For example, I can pick up many drum parts quickly and play them by ear. I can instantly create vocal parts with improvisation.

I dont consider amplification to be electronic sounds. To me thats a synthesizer

You've been coopted into your own oppression.
