The 'N'-word: A Conundrum (1 Viewer)

In these days of privilege and cultural appropriation, I'm trying to get a feel for how my fellow FFAers are handling this sticky societal situation. In high school I was a huge fan of Public Enemy and when breakin' in down in the car would fly along with Chuck D and all the n bombs we could drop.

Things are a bit different today but those songs remain. I discovered that when at my buddy's Mardi Gras party when everyone was karaoke-ing. I launched into an epic version of 'Thong Song' with my wife as special guest rapper/dancer. Very soon I realized that our buddy Sisqo had quite the potty mouth. I had a few drinks in me so I incoherently mumbled the offending parts, but then I got to thinking. Did I ruin Sisqo's artistic vision by not staying true? Should I have said Ninja or instead gone the full Tarantino? 

I really want to get a read on what folks are doing nowadays....whether it be on stage or in the privacy of their own car. Thanks!

I like it, but sing along with this classic PE tune and you'll be winded by the 3 minute mark saying gentleman.

In private, when I am alone, I say it.  When I am with others, I don't.  I'm comfortable enough with my stance on racism to know I am just singing a song lyric, but I wouldn't do it in front of others.

i also wouldn't sing F....the Police in front of kids, but in my own home, F-bombs are flying...

Of course, I believe the whole idea of words being profane is silly to begin with, but I am in a small minority with that one, and therefore try to live by the rules of society.
