The New Starter Thread (1 Viewer)

Hillis and Foster were new starters last season and likely fantasy gold because of it. I looked back at my Draft Dominator file from last year this morning to find Foster ranked as the 28th best running back. Behind several committee guys and such.

So who are the new starters this season heading into September. By new, I mean they've never really had a chance to shine until now. Kolb comes to mind because his chance got derailed by the force of nature that was Vick. Older vets in new places don't really qualify. Let's concentrate more on the up and comer that might finally have his shot to shine.

I'll try to update the thread as it becomes more clear and people add to the list. I'll also place the (?) next to guys we are unsure of.

QBs:

Kevin Kolb

Cam Newton

John Beck?

Andy Dalton

RBs:

Felix Jones

Beanie Wells

Shonn Greene

Tim Hightower

Ryan Mathews

WRs:

Andre Roberts

Dez Briscoe?

Denarius Moore?

Mario Manningham

AJ Green

Julio Jones

Jacoby Ford

Brandon Gibson

Jason Hill

Jerome Simpson

TE:

Lance Kendricks

Ed Dickson

Travis Beckum

Jimmy Graham

K:

Alex Henery

I'd add Felix Jones to the RB's and Manningham to the receivers. Their main competition for time are gone.

Great idea for a thread. Great additions with Felix, Manningham, and Beanie.

I'd take Burress off the list, though. He doesn't truly fit.

I read some rummors that NE is looking to trade a RB since there loaded and Ridley looks like the future back for NE. Talk of a trade to AZ sending the firm to the Cards for a pick. I like the Ridley move as a starter if it happens.

Interesting. Sounds fishy though. Has the Hoodie ever been comfortable with a rookie RB?

If Wells fits the profile (no more than 3 starts?) than Hightower certainly should be there. His value is a few rounds later than Wells (and Foster last year) and he's looking very good.

Taylor Price in NE has to be considered. Very deep sleeper, but he's making camp noise and NE has a collection of old guys starting not he outside.

Sort of. In 2006, Corey Dillon had 199 carries to Maroney's 175. Maroney actually had more carries through the team's first eight games (107-98) but didn't start any of those games, and as the season went on Dillon gained a greater share of the load.

Can you give us any info at all, or are you pulling this out of your ###?

Jacoby Ford certainly fits the bill. He was not a starter last season.

Jason Hill?

Brandon Gibson?

Travis Beckum?

Ed Dickson?

:goodposting: I'd like to know where this is coming from too - pretty interesting news if true.(edit: agree that this is a good idea for a thread, OP)

Not a true fit, but I would consider adding Ryan Matthews.

Also would second the Reggie Bush nomination.
I disagree. If anything, Mathews is in a worse position than he was at the beginning of last year, when he really was the true starter. Now, the Chargers know that they can use Tolbert effectively, and Turner's already said it will be a split backfield.

Finding an Arian Foster (very late round pick) is always my favorite exercise. So far I'm looking at Jacoby Ford, Leon Washington, Rashad Jennings, and Josh Morgan (again).

People may giggle, but I would throw Plax Burress out there. Obviously he is having a hard time with health issues (first ankle, now the back), but if he can stay healthy, I think teams will swarm Holmes and leave Burress in one-on-one with little to no support. I don't see a lot of yards or catches, but I would also be surprised if he left the season with less than 7 TDs...personally, I see him as a 65-800-8TD guy. Plus Rex/Shotty Jr. love showing off their "new toys".

ETA: Whoops! I can swear I did not see Plax there.

Still keeping the post, because I think he will make a nice WR3.

I am not sure whether this would apply, but what about Jerome Simpson (I believe simpson started a few games at the end of the year)?

What if Chris Johnson holds out, which appears to be likely as we get closer to the season?Add Harper/Ringer.
I hate to do that because that opens up a whole new can of worms. I'd like to shy away from speculating. Also, which one? Harper or Ringer? Neither has really emerged yet right? If we can figure out which of those two would be the guy, I'd consider adding that player with an (?).

hmm Ringer ruled out for the 3rd game. At this point, I think it's strongly Harper.

Add to the fact that when Chris Johnson settles the contract dispute ordeal/situation, he will be back and taking over his starting RB gig.
